On The Move

Now that Carlos Tevez has packed his little suitcase and decided to head for the Old Trafford hills the race is on to pay him as much money as possible.

Calos was a bit miffed at not getting much playing time with United, so he could well be heading to Eastlands to join the likes of Robinho at Manchester City. Well, they are offering £100,000-a-week and no European football. That's in the Daily Mirror, which states the total cost of the deal in fee and wages will be £47.5m.

However, the Daily Mail thinks Chelsea could beat City to the deal, but still believes he will sign for City though they quote £130,000-a-week.

With Carlos on his way, Sir Alex Ferguson will need to find a replacement. The favourite appears to be prolific Lyon marksman Karim Benzema. The Daily Mirror suggests the fee for the Frenchman will be £30m. The Daily Mail ups it to £35m.

The Sun, though, is not so sure about the deal going through. In fact, that very paper has the player's agent stating that Benzema wants to stay with Lyon.

Chelsea and new boss Carlo Ancelotti may have a bit of encouragement for signing Andrea Pirlo from the San Siro. The Sun quotes Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi as saying: "If there's an offer, it should be considered."

You will also be able to read on this very website how Hull City could make an audacious bid to lure Mickey Owen to the club. Out of contract and in search of a club, could Owen move to East Yorkshire? Check out The Sun.

Hull could be gazumped by Sunderland for one of United's starlets. Frazier Campbell, currently starring at the European Under-21 Championships, was thought to be heading to the KC Stadium but, so says the Daily Mail, Steve Bruce is now in for him too.

But Hull boss Phil Brown could do some gazumping of his own by nicking the legendary Quinton Fortune out of the hands of Ipswich boss Roy Keane. It's in the Daily Star.

And finally... remember Fernando Morientes? Yes, once a great striker who fluffed his lines at Liverpool, the Spaniard is without a club and if you believe the Independent could he heading for Fulham!

Chelsea needs to lossen their bank account if they want to get Tevez, who by the way is a fantastic player. Chelsea has had the bad luck of losing out on big transfers the ;ast transfer seasons. If they want to win more than the FA Cup they have to get a big name to add to their roster. -rbp
