On The Move

How stubborn are West Ham? The Upton Park club have now turned down fresh bids from both Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur for club-collecting Welsh striker Craig Bellamy.

Inter Milan face a challenge from Chelsea according to the Daily Star who report that the Blues are keen to offer Carlos Tevez a loving new home, seeing Carlito as Didier Drogba's heir.

Oh, and in case you’ve been living under a stone, Kaka has been given permission to talk to Man City about a £107m move.

With West Ham’s owner skinted after the collapse of the Icelandic economy it seems only a matter of time before Gianfranco Zola is forced to admit defeat and let his top players go.

The Guardian claim West Ham rejected a £12m bid for Bellamy. Could it be they are holding out for more from the Middle East money-bags at City?

Earlier this week that cheeky prankster Jose Mourinho hinted that he’d be prepared to give Tevez a chance at Inter as the Argentine grows increasingly unhappy with his uncertain future at Old Trafford. Nothing to do with stirring the pot ahead of the forthcoming Inter v United Champions League tie, oh no.

Not to be out down in the unsettling stakes, now Chelsea have piped up. The Daily Star claims Chelsea will offload the increasingly petulant Drogba in the summer and replace him with a tasty combination of Seville’s Luis Fabiano and Tevez.

And so to the latest in the Kaka saga. The Guardian suggest that Mark Hughes has already devised a 4-1-4-1 formation in which to accommodate the Brazilian and believe he could make his debut against Newcastle United on 28 January.

Despite Kaka’s suggestion that he wanted to ''grow old'' at AC Milan and one day take over as captain, the Italian giants dismissed such dewy eyed sentiment when shown the colour of City's money and duly granted permission for their playmaker to begin personal talks.

If it comes off it will be the most extraordinary transfer in history, not just because of the money involved - The Telegraph put a value of £243m on the deal, including transfer fees, wages and signing fees - but also as it will see one of the top three players in the world leave a Serie A title challenge in favour of a Premier League relegation battle.

Whether you see it as obscene, which it is, or remarkable, which it also is, you have to admit it’s all rather exciting.

Part of the Kaka windfall money could be spent by Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti on Arsenal’s misfiring Emmanuel Adebayor, according to The Sun. Despite having been garbage all season, Ancelotti remains keen.

Also in the Currant Bun it is reported that Jermaine Pennant" target="_blank"> is to snub Real Madrid (yep, snub) and has agreed to join Portsmouth. However, the Daily Mirror claim he will join Madrid, but only on loan until the summer when he’ll be replaced by shiny Cristiano Ronaldo.

Adding credence to the Madrid move is The Sun's report that Javier Saviola could be set for a loan move to Pompey until the end of the season.

Arsene Wenger is prepared to shock football and admit he was wrong by tabling a £12m bid for West Ham Matthew Upson, a player he once sold. The Mirror expect Wenger to chuck Nicklas Bendtner in to sweeten the deal.

And finally, Rangers striker Kris Boyd will not be going to Italy to join Lazio, if for no other reason than the Serie A club’s chairman, Claudio Lotito, has never heard of him. “Who is Kris Boyd?” asked Lotito, perhaps suggesting a possible title for a future autobiography.
