On The Move

Tuesday brings fresh reports of the unexplained phenomenon known as the Tottenham Boomerang Effect raising its head.

It has been suggested in The Guardian that Liverpool’s Robbie Keane is being lured back to Spurs, just six months after joining Liverpool.

This development follows less than 24 hours after Pascal Chimbonda felt compelled to pack his gloves and return to Spurs just six months after moving to Sunderland and in the same month that Jermain Defoe was returned to sender.

The Telegraph reckon that Manchester City are also interested in Keane, but surely even all the tea in china combined with all the oil money in Abu Dhabi would be unable to withstand the seemingly extraordinary cosmic power of the Tottenham Boomerang Effect.

Reports of a return for Jimmy Greaves, Pat Jennings and Ricky Villa are, as yet, unfounded.

Back to Man City and it appears the Eastlands outfit might finally get their wicked way with Shay Given after a month-long courtship; The Guardian claim the keeper will be left out of the Newcastle squad to face City on Wednesday ahead of a deal.

The Independent report that Real Madrid misfit Javier ‘the Little Rabbit’ Saviola will be spending the rest of the season wondering what on Earth he did to deserve a loan move to Portsmouth.

However, The Sun report that Mr Rabbit will snub Pompey in favour of PSV’s offer of more carrots, or something.

Cardiff City have slapped a £6m asking price on Joe Ledley as speculation mounts that the Welsh midfielder is Premier League-bound.

The Mirror report that Wigan boss Steve Bruce is keen as mustard on Ledley and is hoping to barter down the asking price by chucking in Jason Koumas and Henri Camara as part of a potential deal. Understandably, Dave Jones is less keen.

Juventus might not be interested in Carlton Cole, but according to The Mirror they are interested in taking Chelsea winger Florent Malouda on loan until the end of the season ahead of a £10m deal in the summer.

And finally, confusion and tedium continue to surround the Andrei Arshavin transfer saga. The Sun believe the whole laborious situation could fall apart because of the baby-faced 27-year-old’s “excessive” wage demands. He apparently wants £3.5m a year after tax. Don’t we all.

It’s all very frustrating given that the Gunners have actually agreed a transfer fee with Zenit for the player.

Robbie is by far my favorite player. He plays with heart and determination and he is a team player, not a "me" player. If he goes back to Tottenham, he will give them that "little extra" to get back on track and be ready for next season. This season is far from over, yes, but Tottenham can't be too focused on the present.

I thought players were not allowed to return to their initial clubs within 12 months. Can someone clarify?

Defoe already came back within 12 months. I thought that was the rule as well, but between Defoe and Chimbonda, we seem to have shattered that myth.

Man, Tottenham are just like Real Madrid. They want everyone, finally they get some of them and underperformance continues. Its same story every season.

Robbie was sold for 20m, what they Liverpool are going to sell them back at half his price. They have Defoe,Pavlyuchenko, Bent, Modric, Lennon, Bentley... Man how much more talent u need !!! Stop Cribbing start performing
