Och aye the noo! Welcome to a Burns Night special of our round-up of the transfer tittle tattle filling the pages of the sassenachs' newspapers. Barry!
We could start with a Scottish rumour. It's a good 'un too. Wee Gordon Strachan has attempted a raid on League 1 side Peterborough. Their prolific strike force of Craig Mackail-Smith, George Boyd and Aaron McLean were on Celtic's radar until Posh's director of football Barry Fry revealed to the Daily Record that the asking price for a triple swoop would be £15million. Good old Barry Fry. With a bit of Darren Ferguson thrown in for good measure. Gordy never did get on with his auld man.
Back south of the border: When writing this blog it is very difficult to avoid two words; Manchester and City. In many ways the Blues are the only show in town in this transfer window as other clubs try to hold on to what they have or flog their crown jewels.
All roads lead to Eastlands in the Sunday papers' flagrant speculation. First stop is a goalkeeper. Shay Given looks set to join City as Newcastle further alienate their fans by considering selling the man who has been their best player since Alan Shearer quit football. Both the Sunday Express and the Daily Star - who share a newsroom of course - think that deal is happening.
The twist is that David James will be heading to Toon if the deal is complete. The Express meanwhile say a Toon target is former Liverpool midfielder Luis Garcia, currently at Atletico Madrid. Mike Ashley's cash worries make this one a loan deal.
Back to City now, and it's a departure this time. Micah Richards' star has been falling for some time. Yet Arsene Wenger thinks he could be the solution to the Gunners' defensive worries. The News of the World say a mere £7m is the cash on the table, which looks a bargain to these eyes.
Last season we were all talking about City's youth system. Now it seems that they're willing to sell those young stars. Following Richards out of the door are Michael Johnson and Daniel Sturridge say the Sunday Express. Martin O'Neill is willing to be a new father figure to them.
Can't get Kaka via an elaborate laptop presentation? How about a cheaper version? Diego at Werder Bremen has the added benefit of being Robinho's mate from their time together at Santos. News of the World take that flier while Sun journalist Ian McGarry, while tucking into an orange juice and a plastic croissant, just said he believes Robinho will be going to Chelsea on Sky Sports' Sunday Supplement. (It's on in the background and Ian Ridley of the Mail, just said Feyenoord want Tony Adams as manager! Are those two back on the sauce?)
Kenwyne Jones, as reported last night in these very pages, is Harry Redknapp's latest target. Darren 'leaps like a salmon, heads like one' Bent is heading the other way plus £6m says the NOTW. The same organ are sticking to Tony Adams' move to land Javier Saviola, who could be a decent Defoe doppleganger if he gets a decent Sandbanks gaffe and Johnny Metgod's Spanish is holding up. A Diarra replacement in AC Milan reserve Emerson, not the soul glow one, the one who missed winning the World Cup because he bust his hand playing in goals, is a further loan deal, say the Screws who also say Carlo Cudicini will sign for Spurs.
Tedious saga time now. The Arshavin deal is off if a fee is not agreed by the end of Sunday, say our friends at the Express. Which would be a blessed relief. Though Arsene Wenger could be washing down his haggis with a healthy slug of whisky if that proves to be the case.
Here's a bottle and an honest friend!
What wad ye wish for mair, man?
Anyway, happy 250th birthday, Burnsy.

Why doesn't Chelsea sell Ivanovic to City for the ridiculous sum of 22 million pounds, and then buy Richards for the bargain, maybe a swap and change deal? Is anyone even paying attention at the Bridge or are all of them getting older and poorer.
