On The Move

Jimmy Bullard: One time England favourite, fishing fanatic and now a certified money-grabber of the highest proportion after his £5m club-record move to Hull City went through.

The reason? Not that Bullard has been impressed by the Tigers' form this season, or that he thinks Phil Brown can develop his career so that he can eventually supplant Steven Gerrard in Fabio Capello's England side; but that Hull are willing to offer him a whopping contract, while Fulham just weren't.

With all the talk over whether one of the world's best players, Kaka, would be tempted by City's cash, it's funny that Bullard should cop the flak for ditching Fulham's push for Europe in favour of £££.

Still, Hull have been on a bit of a spending spree recently and we reckon that Bullard will be a pretty decent signing for them, as long as his weighty pockets don't hinder his forays up the pitch.

The Guardian say that Wigan's Emile Heskey has agreed a fee of £3.5m with Aston Villa to leave his club in the lurch this January. The influence of Martin O'Neill cannot be played down in this move and with Heskey set to partner John Carew at some point, Premier League centre-backs are already getting sweaty palms.

Having lost the Hesk, Wigan have replaced him with a man nearly as big, Boro's Mido, but only on loan. If he can be as good as the Latics' other on-loan Egyptian they'll have done well, but it's more likely that he'll just throw a strop when he's subbed for Henri Camara. The Daily Mail say he's an ''illusionist'' don't ya know.

Elsewhere, Ben Watson, say Sky Sports, would be mad to miss out on a chance to join the JJB outfit. Especially when the Riverside is his other choice. Just ask Mido.

Micah Richards has joined the plethora of stars to give out quotes on their personal website/myspace/facebook/twitter page (it's evidently the cool thing to do), claiming that reports linking him with a £5m move to Bolton or Wigan is ''ludicrous''. Which, quite frankly, it is.

City are certainly trying to keep their best players, while also trying to sign everyone else's. Roque Santa Cruz speculation won't go away, even though now Christmas is over there's no chance to use puns involving his comedy name and Sky Sports claim Mark Hughes is still keen. But then again, he's keen on everyone. While Big Sam has had some harsh words to say himself and doesn't want to sell.

Finally, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger may have had his say about the fixture list, but is certainly not going to tell us anything about his pursuit of Andrei Arshavin. The Daily Telegraph join thousands of other journalists and fans alike just wishing that, one way or the other, this one was put to bed.

Jimmy; I thought that you wanted to return to London to play? What we all heard at the time you joined Fulham the team that paid your salary for the fourteen months that you did not play for them. So you have joined the competition for dollars per week while the rest of us suffer through the recession. Shame on you. Bring on the salary cap before this great league disapears up its own. And Jimmy... Go to Hull!
