Completely disregard my last article as it is now ancient history. The past few months I've been engulfed in a dark, ominous hole known as the Milan transfer campaign. A campaign so depressing our 'premier' acquisition was Sokratis Papastatopujdnjgnakjn & the mercurial Prince Boateng.

Galliani & co. just redeemed themselves by acquiring one of the world's premier strikers in Zlatan Ibrahimovic. How did this happen, Mr. Galliani? Only a month ago in an 'exclusive' video interview you said Milan would only buy a 'big' if they sold a 'big'. Selling Huntelaar to buy Ibrahimovic is like selling a pickle to purchase a filet mignon. The funds don't add up, but whose counting anyways? Milan now have one of the world's most feared attacking tridents.

Ibrahimovic, Pato & Ronaldinho paired up form a dynamic threesome of skill, technique, and plenty of flair. The inconsistent & overwhelmed Borriello can stop worrying about carrying Milan on his back. He had a fine display last year, but I always had my doubts if a team with Champions League trophy aspirations could really win any silverware with him leading the frontlines.

Moving on, the official deal for Ibrahimovic is as follows: He will make slightly less by earning €8 million for four years. Milan will pay a total of €24 million to Barcelona over three years, paid in various installments. I wasn't sure you could do that in soccer -- only at Best Buy when you're purchasing a brand new television. Oh well.

Ibra is Switching His Stripes ©AP

I used to loathe Ibrahimovic when he played for Inter. Him and Maicon singlehandedly gifted Inter the scudetto a few years ago. And for all his remarkable talent in the Serie A, he always came up short in the Champions League. Some said he couldn't deliver in big games. I thoroughly believed it. As soon as Zlatan left the nerazzurri because he wanted more than just Serie A titles, they won the famed treble. At Barcelona, Ibra was yanked at half time during important Champions League fixtures, and often looked out of place, despite scoring a very respectable 16 goals in La Liga. In the end, the thought of Messi & Ibra paired together looked a whole lot better on paper than in real life.

Fast forward to today: He is now undoubtedly the most HATED player among Intergentina fans. Inter president Massimo Moratti even came out publicly today to voice his displeasure with Ibra joining their bitter rivals. A bit of an exaggeration perhaps, considering the big Swede was the metaphorical foundation that led to Inter's glory.

Random Notes:

- Ibrahimovic wasn't the best business maneuver by the blaugrana. Purchased a year ago from Inter, the Spanish side coughed up a cool €46 million + Eto'o. Unfortunately for them, Zlatan depreciated faster than a Kia.

- Ibrahimovic becomes one of the few players to ever suit up for Juventus, Inter AND Milan. Not to mention Ajax, Barcelona, and Malmo. It's a shame a player with his talent could never stick with a team and become their so called bandiera. - which is a term used for the iconic figure of a team. (ex: Totti, Del Piero, Zeljko Kalac).

- With Ibra's arrival back in the Serie A, one of the best forward/defender rivalries will be renewed when he faces Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini. For more, search youtube "Ibrahimovic Chiellini". There are dozens of video highlighting all of their encounters. Enthralling material to say the least.

- Milan's team compared to last year has much more depth, skill, and youth. The signings of Sokratis (whose last name I won't dare to pronounce), Boateng, and Ibra carve the way for a new generation of Milan. Think of it as a time travel back to the days when we bought everyone & anyone. Ibra is now 28, he has peaked as a player and still has about 3 or 4 years where he can play at the top of his game.

The trio of ibra-pato-dinho must strike fear into the defences of serie a. The best line up we have presented for some years.

Posted by Chris on 08/28/2010

IBRAHIMOVIC!!! I jumped with joy when i heard the news. I'm salivating now on how this next seasons gonna be. SOOO Excited!!!

Posted by horo2 on 08/28/2010

Finally Galliani keep his promise that there are a bigsigning on this transfer windows, some said this is a transfer panic or just issues spining to muffle Milanisti anger to Berlusconi, some said Dzeko is waay better than Ibra..but who cares?Ibra came and Milan have new big light of hope this season..hope this transfer saga will wake up the devil inside Milan..

Posted by bren2k on 08/29/2010

Zlatan has never been on a team that didn't finish first in Serie A...let the trend continue

Posted by Maldini is god on 08/29/2010

His medical is on Monday......lets hope there is nothing wrong wit his teeth!

Posted by J86-Wedge on 08/29/2010

Fantastic addition to Milan. Great "colpo di mercato" by Galliani. Amazing article as usual Mr Bonetti. Comedy meets soccer expertise. Keep them coming.

Posted by Bram on 08/29/2010

Ahh, finally, a has-been big signing after Ronaldinho. Wait, the case is exactly the same. they have found their peak, declined, and bought from Barcelona. But Dinho found his best again in Milan, so we hope that Ibra will do, too. All in all, a very exiting transfer.

Now Milan will keep Ibra at the club until he's 35!

Posted by sinista on 08/29/2010

very very optimistic about this season now!!! wasn't too convinced after prince and papa, but now with the frontline we have we can challenge on all 3 fronts. group of death?? HA!!! now we're gonna make easy work of madrid, ibra's former ajax and poor auxerre. welcome IBRA!!! GO ROSSONERI!!!!! FORZA MILAN!!!!

Gr8 article Matteo...!
Zlatan is a gr8 acquisition,no doubt...Bt I fear that Milan are just adding to their woes by signing a player who is 28..As U said,he'll b at his peak 4 atleast 3 years..Bt shdnt Milan be signing more players in their early 20s..?
And Ibra-Pato(If she stays fit)-Ronnie is indeed lethal..Im hoping Ronaldinho shows his true potential dis season...The guy used to b a magician at Barca,He's close to getting der at Milan...Jst hope He can sustain it..:-)

Posted by Milan 1963 on 08/29/2010

FANTASTIC, magico Galliani, he went and conquered again. I said it in a previous post that what Milan needed is our President back to look at the interests of the team. Him and "Zio Fester" as called by some frustrated Milan fans have delivered another piece of magic. Now with Ibra on board we will be an attacking powerhouse. And with more space given to Flamini and the addition of Boateng, we will be also stronger in the middle. I understand that there have been a few new young addition in defense so overall it looks pretty good. Despite missing our bandiera Kalac LOL I must say I haven't been as excited in years, let's the games begin and FORZA MILAN

FORZA ADRIANO GALLIANI!

Posted by shamcarz on 08/29/2010

we have to thank our president Berlusconi for this... after all the hatred Milan fans showed upon him, he gave en excellent gift in the form of Ibra.. the reason Ibra makes for a sensible signing is the fact that he has loads of serieA experience or even UCL..wel, he might be a big match flop, but then we have Pato who is a big match player.. also, the tag big match flop doesn't remain for long.. Remember, Cristiano Ronaldo had a similar tag.Boy, who is saying that anymore?!!

ibrahimovic great move for milan, after kaka's departure i felt there was something missing for milan with ronaldhino not beeing fit he could give milan that boost they needed

haha. Life is good. I'm a milan fan again now. Even though I never really liked the player. Better than pickle huntelaar though

Posted by Mjay on 08/29/2010

These is the best Milan team of the last few years. We have a great attacking trio (with super Pipo and Borrielo as backups), a solid midfield and a experienced defence. I dont think we need to sign any more players, so ours youngsters like Verdi, Albeterazzi, Strasser and Merkel can have a shot of playing regularly

Posted by punditguy on 08/29/2010

Great article Matteo. I swear, last night i didnt sleep at all! Praying this transfer came through smooth. And i woke up this morning to this delight! I feel confident again. Myself esteem has risen thanks to this tranfer.

Matteo....you know you lied about Borriello. You have that special love for him. LOL!

So now im off to the beach to PARTY and celebrate. :)

Posted by luv Khattri on 08/29/2010

as italians are very superstitious, so am i even though being from india. i don't need to say the amount of talent zlatan has, i would like to say, is for past 6 years whichever team zlatan played for, have won their domestic league tittles, so something to be happy about.

now talking about formations...i think milan need to change their christmas formation and need to play a 4-2-3-1, leaving ibrahimovic on the top lone, dinho on the left as usual, boriello in centre, pato on the right and ambrosini and pirlo holding the midfield, this will give them the unique dimension of play with pirlo on the holding role giving killer balls to the forwards, dinho making the balls and providing crosses from the left to pato and zlatan, champions league football here we come and will pick the trophy at wembley.

Actually, about buying players in various installments, Zaragoza still owe us money over the Ricardo Oliveira sale.

Posted by Dele Piper on 08/29/2010

The purchase of IBRA is a real masterstroke by the MILAN SUITS,i hope all our key players stay free of serious injuries and with a tiny dose of LADYLUCK which all winning entities need. This may be a season to remember for all our fans. This current team looks formidable as MILAN should be. Last season they looked like if they played with fear, may be it was LEO's aura. This season they have verve and zest judging by what i've seen already, the season would be long and arduous. If they give the young bucks a chance to contribute to the cause unlike previous seasons then ACM can return to its vaunted pinnacle before the spectacular near decline after 2007. We have suffered with our beloved team as INTER swept all before it.We may not win the CL this season, but the blueprint for future hegemony is in the making. I respect INTER'S successes, Great empires conquer and are conquered, i hope MLIAN would be Great again. We must avoid last season's CL blunders,LOOK NOT A GIFT HORSE IN THE MOUTH-

Posted by Mikuz on 08/29/2010

Milan never seem to get thier transfer dealings right. i don't think the acquisition of ibra is necessary. The problem of milan last season was thier defence and midfield. What milan needs is a fullback{rafinha would have been a good one} and a midfielder. IBRA IS NOT NEEDED.

I am not as excited as everyone here seems to be. my first concern is that Ibra has never left a team on good terms, i wonder what kind of a presence he is in the locker room.
secondly it doesn't take a master tactician to notice that ibra only plays well when the team plays for him, remember gilardino after parma?
finally what happened to getting younger and cutting wage expenditure.
im sure ibra will provide many magical moments for us and we are now a better team. at the moment however i am more then happy with our lecce performance. and in a few years when ibra gets sick of milan or milan get sick of ibra he will leave and mino raiola will cash in another fat paycheck. tanti auguri ibracadabra, grazie zio fester e grazie silvio, anche se avrei preferito dzeko o torres

well, well, well...good for you people! well now that ibra is back at the san siro, how's about you give us (Juve) your other striker, Borriello, whom you really don't need now. unless you think otherwise? all we want is to finish in champions league qualifying, we'll leave your little rivalry alone.

Posted by femi on 08/30/2010

The transfer dealings have been negligible up till the last few days and now with the transfer of Ibrahimovic, its come alife!
We need to make the transfer of Robinho happen and then things will start to change!

Posted by Megas on 08/30/2010

Don't get ahead of yourselves Milan fans. Milan has an aging team with not much potential. Ronaldinho will run out of steam, Zlatan will go missing in big games and the old bregade will be carried onto the ground on stretchers. Truth is Inter has it in te bag again.

Matteo;

Extraodinario!!!

I have to admit. This is probably one of the smoothest transfers "Uncle Fester" and "Sweet Daddy" Silvio have pulled. My compliments to them. If we get Robinho, sell Boriello (I told you about him didn't I!!? And you're...never mind), keep Hunter. Don't know if we're getting another DF/MF. We will have one of the most balanced and lethal squads in Europe!! As to the Inter comment, please see yesterday's match with the Serie B champs. As for yesterday's match. Solid all around, just Clearance looked a little off for me. Still, are we getting that kid from Genoa that's all I want to know? And, with an attacking line up of: Ibra, Roni, Pato, Robinho(?), Pippo, Hunter-OH MY. Intermerda, doomsday is here! MF-Abate,Pirlo,Boatneg,Ambro,Seedorf, Merkel, Flamini; DF: Papa,Bonera,Nesta, Silva,Anton,Zambro, De Vito, Albertzi,Yepes, GK Amelia, Abbi, Roma. And Roma did great at the Gomper Cup! FORZA MAGICO MILAN!!!!

Posted by KoolGUY660 on 08/30/2010

Ibra has won the title every year for the past 7 years and now that he is with us @ AC MILAN i hope his title saga continues!...

as far as other transfer rumors

Klass jan is reportedly set to move to Schalke for 14 MIllion
Boriello might move to Juventus
Ac milan is on the hunt for Robinho!

I feel that out of the 3 that were realesed out of madrid last season (SNEIJDER,ROBBEN,KLASS JAN) we ended up picking up the big flop that never really performed, for the exeption of maybe 1 game,i say we cash in before we loose more of his value.

I would like boriello to stay because he impressed last season but if he wants playing time i could understand that because chances are he wont get much unless there is an injury.

BRING ON ROBINHO! The sound of 3 of the best brazilian forwards in the world on 1 team is getting to be a nightmare for any club that faces us..IM HAPPY to say it is a better combination than what dunga choose for the world cup!So Bring on the JOGA BONITO at the SAN SIRO

Posted by Rodger on 08/31/2010

If one of Borielo or Huntelaar goes please let it be the Dutchman. Those who criticize Borriello make me laugh, do you ever even watch any games? Did you watch the Lecce game? Do you have any clue about soccer? Milan needs a back up for when Ibra gets injuried, suspended, needs a rest. And what of Pato? Do you really think he can go all year without getting hurt again? As for Robinho, he is not a striker. He will be a complete waste, Milan has Ronaldinho to play that position. Remember how well Kaka and Ronnie worked out together? I'll remind you, not well, not well at all. Plus what of Merkel's chances in the future. What Milan needs is a replacement for Pirlo, he has no backup, and his game is going down hill fast.

Posted by tHOMPSON on 08/31/2010

I.m over the moon with joy.

Posted by dude on 08/31/2010

Zlatan is made for the serie A's physicall type of tactics not the free flowing tactics that barcelona has. If robinho came to Milan then he will want play as a left winger which is where ronaldinho plays and those to are angry at each other over international selection.

Posted by alfie on 08/31/2010

robinho is on the way

Posted by kato on 08/31/2010

i will say good move ibra u were a liability at barca anyway now u can get game time and us wat u r made of.defenders be aware

Posted by MOSTAFA on 08/31/2010

let me remind you ac milan fans that buying a striker will not make nesta or any of the other defenders younger, you have an aging defence that leaks goals like it's fun( 7 goals against united in the CL last season!!!), so he will do good and score some goals and do a couple of back heals and dribbles but at the end there is one true champion coming from milan...INTER!!!
7 years and counting since yyou guys won the serie 8, this year will be 8!

Posted by Pagliuca on 08/31/2010

Boriello is really holding up this deal. He can fit well in another team that everyone will have to play for him, but in Milan he'll have to hold his own. Robimho will be a good bench and rotation player for Roni and possibly Pato. It's a shame about Hunter. I wish him all the best at Schalke, it's sad that his true potential was never realized. If Leo would have played him correctly and if the MF was a bit faster he would have done so much more. I still hope the Kaladze and Grosso switch happens. Now Roma is trying to sweeten the deal by offering Mexus. I would take Mexus I know it's another CD but considering Papa(good but proven), Yepes(good but age), Bonera (injury prone) etc. I still would take Mexus to partner Nesta or Silva. Mercato still one let's see what happens.

Posted by D .Piper on 08/31/2010

If possible ACM should try and disuade Borriello from leaving, irrespective of how many strikers they have. The season would be long and as we all know, there'll be injuries, fatigue, loss of form and suspensions. It would be suicide to lack adequate cover at crucial stages of the season.Especially if chasing honours on 3 fronts.Thats how you win, replacing quality with quality. If any forward should leave, perhaps Huntelaar should be the one.I'll be loath to see Borriello go.But it's not up to me.He'll be an adequate Plan B for ACM.Injiuries can strike without notice.Milan have been warned, a season is long.Marco should stay and fight for his place like a true champion, that is how to give the coach selection headaches. No one can or should take their place for granted, that way we have battle ready gladiators ready to sweat and contribute their quota for the mighty task and cause of wresting silverware off some uppity upstarts i dare not mention. I hope MARCO stays Robinho or not.

Posted by daniel on 08/31/2010

Robinho is a good pickup counting that he shows up to play, he can play on the wing, the sides of midfield and CF and striker. Hopefully we can pato-dinho-binho-ibra at one time if allegri can find how to use them. A MF with dinho binho flamini and Kevin Prince looks real good to me with our youngster and useful vets(seedorf pirlo ambro) filling in.

Posted by Rodger on 08/31/2010

First the good news, no make that great news. Kaladze is gone!! Genoa took him. Why? Who knows, and I don't care as he will never again wear the Milan shirt. The bad news, Borriello is a Roma player. Much better than him going to the cheats in Torino, but who is now the back up striker? Where is Robinho going to play? This was a stupid move done only because of Silvio's ego. Ibrahimovic for Huntelaar, great move. Robinho for Borriello, insane.

Posted by Mjay on 08/31/2010

Rodger I agree partially
Robinho is definetly a good player and very versatile (can play in the wings as well as a centre forward) but the problem is, will he accept be on the bench???? I really doubt it.As things stand at the moment the we will play with ronaldinho, Ibra, Pato in attack; Flamini, Pirlo, Seedorf in Midfield; Antonini, Nesta, Tiago and Zambrota in defence. However as we all know it is very likely that Pato and Ibra will get injured during the season.
My main cause of http://img.cricinfo.com/blog/matchvox_post.gifconcern is Robinho will cause problems in the dressing room with his childish behaviour if he is benched. I think we have a very strong team this season we good back up players such as Abate, Verdi,Inzagui, Odumani, Merkel, Albeterazi, Gatusso, Strasser, Ambrosini, Boateng, Bonera, skorati and Onkwewu

Posted by Marco on 08/31/2010

whats wrong with this formation?
amelia/abbiati
zambrotta thiago nesta antonini
pirlo/boateng flamini/ambro
ronny
pato ibra robinho

i think it could work very well

Posted by Rodger on 09/01/2010

Yes Marco a 4-3-1-3 would work great, especially since you would start the game a man up. You made my point, there is no spot for Robinho. he will have to be a bench player, as Boriello would have been, but blocks the youth players developement. How are Merkel or Odu going to get time now, and who can sub for Ibra?

PS, to Mjay, Onweyu is dreadful. It will take an epidemic of injuries for him to even see a call up.

Posted by punditguy on 09/01/2010

I really dont see the big deal and why people are making such a fuss about Robinho's arrival. I think its a great. BUT i dont agree with Borriello leaving! Robinho can play as a LF, CF, RF, LWF, RWF and probably CAM! He can play behind all three strikers! So no had to get bench. I think he can replace Seedorf role with ease! And he already has a good understanding with Ronnie and Pato! Apparently not much people look at Brazil games of present and past! Some one previously mentioned how Kaka and Ronnie played together in the past and didnt worked out....well thats because BOTH players have two completely different styles! Ronnie, Pato, Robinho all have similar style of play so its a better chemistry between them rather than Ronnie and Kaka.

Just Imagine Ronnie Ibra Pato and Robinho behind them. And Flamini and Prince behind him! It gives us a MONSTROUS foward line, a creative CAM and muscles in the midfield!!!

Selling Borriello was just sad! He would have been a great Sub!

Posted by D on 09/01/2010

@Rodger - you didn't see the space dude. Marco was suggesting 4-2-1-3.

See he was typing:
Pirlo/Boateng [space] flamini/ambro
give the guy a break - you just misinterpreted what he wrote. Honest mistake. When I first read it I thought he was suggesting 4 in the midfield (lol).

The concern I would have with Marco's suggested lineup is we're not offering much help to the D. As talented as Pirlo is, his strength isn't playing defense all game - too much to ask of him and we'd be wasting a resource.
When we're not playing the recently promoted clubs are we going to score more goals than we give up?
Let's hope Nesta holds up all season.

Credit to the club for going out and grabbing top players. Have to wonder if they play the positions the team really has a need for. Who knows maybe they'll convert Robinho into the next Maicon...right after they sign Adebayor.

Posted by Barney on 09/01/2010

Matteo, good write- up but i have some issues. so Huntelar is now a pickle, i remember just few months back you were hailing him as the Cobra- i never knew Cobras metamorphose into Pickles. My second issue is that since we have fortified the attack with the 2nd coming Ibra to San siro and Robinho, i fear for our back, i mean the Goalie. How good is Marco Amelie? find out for us pls.

Posted by Matteo Bonetti on 09/01/2010

I'll be writing a new column this weekend..

But for now. Even Andrea Pirlo believes Allegri should put the 4-2-3-1 formation.

Some of you might have a short term memory but it was only last year that Leonardo placed the same EXACT formation with Pato, Ronaldinho, and Seedorf behind Borriello. That month of the season where we saw all of them together was the most SUCCESSFUL of the year. So basically, nothing has changed. Do Pato, Ronnie, and Robinho need to sacrifice a bit and help out the fullbacks? Without a doubt. But that's been Allegri's mentality all along.

p\s:anyone know what list B stand for?as in acmilan.com...strasser n pato in B list?

Posted by punditguy on 09/02/2010

@MATTEO

Please explain what is the "B-LIST" about. Saw it on the Milan site and i saw Pato and Strasser was listed in the B-List.

Posted by Rodger on 09/02/2010

Don't worry Pato is going to play in the Champions League. The B List is for young players who have been on the team for a while (forget the exact number of years) so Pato and Strasser are on that and still eligible.

Posted by Paglicua on 09/03/2010

Yes. B list is for anybody that is under 21 regardless. So all the Primavera hopefulls will be able to play if needed. If we get a good results against Auxerre and Ajax on those first legs. I would play Albertazzi, De-vito, and Merkel just to give them the experience. But considering it's CL, I don't know if Allegri would take a risk like this unless we are garanteed despite any result that we're going to the knockouts.

selling borriello was the dumbest move. we dont need tricks and flicks (robinho) we need people who deliver. borrielo should have stayed with milan. robinho..... useless.

Posted by Lunz on 09/05/2010

Doesnt matter how great Milan's attack is...to win Champions League, they have to be able to beat teams like Man U, Barcelona, Madrid.

Milan is going to beat those small teams easily, but whether they win any titles, depend on whether their defence and defensive midfielders do their job.

My bet is Milan will trash those small teams, and when they face big teams, the coach has to be brave enough to leave out robinho or ibra and put in gattuso/ambrosini/flamini to protect the def.

Forza Milan!!

I will miss Clarence Seedorf. Last game he played well. Winning game is not always about big names it is about playing well together and that did not happen Saturday.

@ USA4Milan,
I have not seen the game, but I can tell you that Allegri is partly responsible for what happened. First of all he wants to preserve Nesta for the CL game and leaves him out which as we know weakens tremendously our defence. I read that Papa was guilty on both goals. Second WTF is Gattuso still doing on a pitch. We took Boateng for toughening our midfield, so use him. Pirlo Ambro and Gattuso are half cooked, so bring on new blood (I am really getting pissed off with this shit), thirdly if you have quality you still need to run and a part from Pato it did not happen with Dinho and Ibra. Ibra and Binho just arrived and didn't have time to blend with the rest of the team. But I am confident they will improve with time. Better losing now, so our guys will come down to hearth, stop proclaming that they will win everything and eat some humble pie and start running on the pitch.

Milan lost because the MF was way to slow and non-existant. 4 or 5 years ago that MF could easily rival Barca or Inter. Now it can't. With Ibra there you can't use to much of a 4-3-3. Either you do a 4-4-2 or 4-3-1-2 with Roni playing the fantista. We need a MF that will make connections with the attack and come back to defend. This was missing on Saturday. Flamini, Boatneg, or Abate have to start. Once we have pace in the MF, everything else will come into place. Also, Ibra needs to start running and stop standing. He's in Milan now so he better now his place. We had the pop for him now it's over and the work begins. How I still wish we would have bought Pastore and Krasic. We would have dumped Cesena by 5 goals easily. Also, we need to start Albertazzi at CB and get Abate the RB spot. Bonera was OK but the Greek dissapointed. Let's hope this is just a blip.

Are Milan fans still salivating or have they come down to earth already?

Saturday was really sad! Despite the penalty missed i think Ibra played good.

When the game started and i saw our attacking line up i got really excited, BUT, when i saw our midfield...it immediately wiped that smiled off my face! C'mon Allegri, were you serious??? Ambro, Prilo, Gattuso??!?!?! Thats suicide!!!!

Two players i think he should played are Prince and Zambrotta! With the absence of Nesta Zambro would have provided that experience and Prince would have add that youth and muscle to run an entire 90 mins!

Thank god Seedorf and Nesta are back for CL clash!

New to this board. Comments:
1. It was 1 game. It's done. Thank god it was game 2. Let's hope Allegri and the guys learn from that, to be humble and play the game...RUN.

2. Everyone had an awful game. And Allegri made mistakes in player selection. Gattuso has been a warrior for Milan but he's done. He cannot be a starter anymore. Him and Ambro on the pitch together is death.

3. I'm not saying the fab 4 can play together but why not try it. Would we not own more possession (less in our end)? Perhaps if we had the 4 upfront the midfield could hang back more and worry about defense. Ambro and Gattuso certainly aren't going to score, so STAY BACK!

4. We lost this game in midfield. They got caught upfront and burned on counters. Also the service to Ronnie was poor. R80 is the key to this team. He's the playmaker and these guys have to give him the ball. Each player needs to accept their role. And why replace Dinho down 2nil?

Anyways, Auxerre tomorrow!

@Milan 1963 - nice to see the emotion. Usually u're pretty reserved in your posts.

Did watch the game. Thought Ibra played well. Aside from the penalty shot I'd say he had a decent game. Dinho (oustide of his 6' shot) was a no show and should be embarrased. Agree with everyone that Gattoso has no business being on the pitch. Ambro - good effort, great heading, not someone I'd start.

Thought Pato was a bit selfish and Nagatomo handled him pretty good. Good pace, but needs to play smarter.

Sakrotis looks good with some of his stand up tackles but his awareness isn't very good. Bonera isn't starting qlty for a club aiming for trophies.
Silva showed again that without Nesta he's above avg at best, but not the world class CB the club needs.

If the club let Ronnie go in Jan and snagged someone like Ranocchia and an all star MF I wouldn't complain.
