The starting 11 for tonight's game with Sporting has been released and once again James Milner is not in the staring lineup.
City will open with Hart, Richards, Kolo Toure, Savic, Kolarov, Pizarro, Yaya Toure, Johnson, Silva, Balotelli and Aguero. That implies either a 4-2-3-1 or more likely a 4-4-2 with Pizarro and Yaya Toure patrolling the middle with Silva and Johnson out on the wings and Balotelli and Aguero up front.
As much as I like Johnson, I'd really prefer Milner to play as combining with Richards and Silva has opened up a number of defenses this year. Nasri at least sees the bench. I'm really not sold on the former Arsenal player and will be disappointed if he comes off the bench before Milner.
Given the need to attack I'd actually prefer more of an inter style diamond with Yaya Toure at the base, Milner and Silva playing the left and right side of the diamond and Aguero at the tip behind Dzeko and Balotelli.
Regardless it's a strong lineup as City look to win silverware for the second straight year.

Will you NOW admit what a massive oversight it was of you not to have Michel Vorm anywhere on your list of top summer signings? I said it at the beginning of the season and I say it again now, he should be at the top of the list. As important to Swansea as Joe Hart was to Birmingham before they were relegated.
