Looks like a 4-5-1 with Bellamy, de Jong, Zabaleta, Barry and SWP across the middle. Petrov and Ireland on the bench... United with a similar 4-5-1. Howard Webb is the ref!
First time Mancini has gone with what I would deem the "obvious" lineup going into a game.

Couldn't seal the deal. ManCity did what I feared they would: sat back too far and let United dictate.
That leaves the FA Cup for silverware this year, and rejoining the battle next season to write a new chapter of ManCity glory.

The line was what we expected from Mancini, but I disagree with the starting starting of Philips and Zabeleta. I think that the healed Ireland and Petrov would have been the better combination. On the other hand they were winning by one goal in aggregate so the defense in the center with Zabeleta might have been a brilliant move if the game had not turned into a shoot out in the last half. Also Philips is a very good player but he does not look fit. That is why I think a same style player like Petrov might have been the better move.
Wallace Reply I was disappointed in the team selection and was pretty sure the team would lose after I saw it.

the defensive picks made no sense
city left the midfield bare while united packed it with five very talented players
city should have countered by putting in sylvinho, who gave united trouble in the champions league final. Instead of the unproven boyata.
city's negligence of the midfield broke the defense's connection with the strikers, and allowed united to build up pressure and shoot city to hell. city relies too much on its forward to do all the work
City paid for these mistakes and now they must eat their words.

City played very well in a hostile environment. Better results in the future though? The defense started solid needed a stronger attacking midfield to help alleviate the pressure. I believe that if Petrov was in the lineup to hold the ball out on the line as well as force Bellamy further into the attack by playing on the left. Garrido looked completely lost several times, and was careless with the ball too. Still time to buy a left back? I would also like to see City grab a right midfielder who can posses the ball on the opposite side of the field from Petrov/Bellamy/Barry, especially since SWP has been very sporadic of late and has not been able to keep the ball very well even when playing better.

I was so disappointed with last derby match.
Where is Petrov? Sylvinho? Onouha? where have they been? Boyota, he is good young player. At home. But not away, big game like ManU. He had less experience then Onouha. I was so so so disappointed.
But I am still waiting for another game soon.
We must attack and attack, not defend and defend.
