Latest speculation is that Richard Dunne is off to Sunderland... or maybe Spurs... or maybe he's staying. Me? I remember at the start of the transfer discussions that City were very clear that they were going to bring in players first before making decisions on who could leave.

Now maybe things have changed but the team as it is today would be a lot worse without Richard Dunne. If the club brings in a couple of players then such a move can be contemplated but until then it seems to me to be more speculation than anything that is substantiated.

The club continues to be linked with an imminent arrival of Roque Santa Cruz. Here's the problem I have with this, call it the Jo factor. No one else has come in for the Blackburn striker. Gareth Barry was good business and it was done quickly and in secret because you knew there would be multiple bids for the England international if it was known he was available. Contrast this with the transfer of Jo last summer which dragged on for months and yet no one else was ever in the frame for the CSKA Moscow striker. This to me said volumes. If the top italian or Spanish teams were not sniffing round him then that was a red flag. Similarly with Santa Cruz. There's been no indication from any source that I can recall that any other club has a serious interest in the Paraguayan. Doesn't that worry you? Here's a top goal scorer, at least when healthy, and the silence is deafening. I'd love to be proved wrong, just have this sinking feeling that I will not.

I agree with you. Santa Cruz has the potential to be a great player on City espcially with the creativity existing in our midfield, unfortunately I think odds are on his fitness giving way. I think this is even more of a concern given the fact that Bellamy is frequently unfit as well. I would look to move Bellamy, Elano, Benjani and Vassel immediately, loan out Jo and complete the acquisition of Tevez. That would leave us with Tevez/Santa Cruz/Bojinov as options up top, Robi & SWP on the wings, Ireland, Barry, De Jong, & Johnson as option in the middle. I think the next acquisition after Tevez should absolutely be a center back of the highest quality. Kolo Toure would be perfect and aquiring him would probably entice Yaya to join City as larger counterpart to De Jong. Lastly, go for additional not-so uber-hyped youth, like a Fazio and Acosta (Sevilla), Zapata (Udinese), Traore (Portsmith), De Selvestri (Lazio), Mata (Valencia), Aissati(Ajax)

Bojinov has had his share of injuries, too, as has Santa Cruz. Elano wants to go to Italy, and really, other than the thrill of his first few weeks with the club, has he been that effective? Let him go.
What about Petrov, who should be fit in time for next season? Where does he fit in?
