The Rambling view from the City perspective.

You see the pattern?

Pre transfer window the word is City will be buying numerous world quality players.

Then once the transfer window opens we in order are, interested in a player, have a bid rejected and the mainstream Rag press go all negative again.

Now the latest. A mass frenzy in the press about Kaka, a bid supposedly made, now a bid supposedly rejected and jibes in the press about how City can't attract the players even with all their money.

Which will lead to articles at the end of the transfer window where City's activity will be labeled disappointing.

What everyone forgets is that Kompany, SWP and Robinho and even to a lesser extent Bridge were all bought in special circumstances.

Komapny had a falling out with Hamburg over the participation in the Olympics. SWP was sitting on the bench at Chelsea and deemed surplus to requirements, Robinho was on the outs at Real Madrid and looking for a home and Bridge while obviously valued at Chelsea wanted the playing time to get back into the England squad for 2010.

Now is not the time for major players to move. It is a time for players or clubs with issues. Now such an issue could be a Martin O'Neill offering an over the top sum for Ashley Young to Watford, but you look for a situation that you can take advantage of.

Hence my comments not only prior to this transfer window but also this time last year that you look to teams who finished 4th in the Champions League and are out of Europe. I had hoped Werder Bremen would be one of these, Naldo and Diego being on my radar, but alas they snuck into 3rd place in their group and remain in the UEFA Cup.

And also this was the rational for my shopping list at the start of the month. Each player or situation indicated that movement might occur. Blackburn for money, Keane at Liverpool being played out of position, Gallas on the outs with Wenger etc. Or just today, Drogba being dropped at Chelsea. It is in these moments that you take advantage of when better judgement is over ruled by frustration.

Is there a great player at say Barcelona or Real Madrid frustrated with a lack of playing time. Certainly in Germany Podolski and his situation at Bayern Munch was one I thought we could move into.

Arshavin is another example. Now personally given the struggles of Pavlyuchenko down at Spurs and his reported surprise at the fitness and quickness levels in the Premiership, I would be concerned that Arshavin would have the same issues. And I also believe this is the type of player Hughes was alluding to when he talked about wanting players with Premier League experience to help now. But that being said here is a quality player that can be picked up because the player wants to leave and the club wants to sell.

That's the type of player we will be getting in the transfer window.

The Rags supporting press have painted City into a nice little corner. Come February the negative articles will be brutal. Just watch.
