I don't know how Liverpool can look like relegation fodder one week and Champions the next. Last week against West Brom we were just brutal to watch and this week against one of the Top Guns in the Premier league we were scintillating.

Almost every single out player would have received a vote from the supporters for the man of the match, they were all that good. The back four look balanced as we were able to feature two proper full backs, with Academy graduate Flanagan making his senior debut at right back and the infuriating Aurelio returning to left back. I use the word infuriating because surely Aurelio is one of the best left backs in the league but because he is always injured you just can't count on him. He was heavily involved in all three goals and just gives us the balance that any back four requires.
Once the ball fell to Andy Carroll at the top of the box I screamed hit it and that he did. The ball was struck with such venom that it sped past Hart and into the net. The goal reminded me a bit of Fowler in his heyday as they both used to see the ball drop and hit it.
Before that moment Liverpool were already dominating possession as Suarez had hit the post after a nice pass by Carroll. Liverpool continued to play all the football with Spearing and Lucas dominating the middle, with Kuyt just buzzing around the ground. After a spell of more possession in the City third the ball fell kindly again to Kuyt who passed the ball into the net to put Liverpool 2-0 up. Of course I was still nervous about a City charge but that was put to bed when Meireles hit a ball to the back post which Carroll attacked with venom. His glancing header put the game past City, who it must be said, didn't even look they were trying at times. I think Mancini will be sacked if they fail to beat United next weekend, even if they take 4th place in the League.
Suarez was rampant and Kuyt continued his energetic display but the second half failed to produce any more goals but Liverpool put in a very professional performance and could have increased their lead a few times. Carroll was close to his hat trick after another clever run by Suarez but his header found the top of the net rather than the back of it.
We have now beaten City, Chelsea and United under Kenny but yet still seem to struggle away from home against teams in the bottom half. Perhaps an overall stronger squad will help us in the struggle next year?

It is very very frustrating, to see how well we can play against the supposed top teams, yet still struggle to get consistency, especially when you see that pile of long ball dross from salford somehow sitting at the top of the league.

Great game from Liverpool,City very poor.Yes we do need to do better against the "lower" teams.glad to see Carrol improving,at this rate he could prove to be an excellent buy.Suarez is there already............

With out a doubt, squad depth and injuries have hindered us. Other teams are taking notice of a rising Liverpool club that will be a force to reckon with next campaign. Just need a few more squad players and 2-3 premier signings (LB and Wingers) and we will be fighting for the league title next year. ManU, ManC, and Chelsea are seeming to get older... LFC is getting younger.

I agree, the reason for liverpools Jekyll and Hyde performance is simple, its because their average players raise their game when playing teams above them and the teams below them do the exact same thing to liverpool

Reminds me of our form under Rafa. At one point we were also struggling against the weaker teams yet were doing brilliantly against the top guns. If only we had beaten West Brom we'd be only 2 points behind Spurs. So close yet so far!! :(
