Liverpool dominated the first 45 minutes against West Ham on Sunday and scored 3 goals, none of which came from the body of Torres and Gerrard! It was our best display of the season by far. In saying that West Ham have been the worst team to come to Anfield in some time and if I'm being greedy we should have scored a lot more. We did create lots of chances however and once the match started I always felt we were going to score.
We had two strikers on the pitch and Ngog was doing a very job of taking runners with him freeing up space for Fernando. Our current manager also figured out, by default, to actually play the player in their proper positions. He moved Kuyt back to his best position of right midfield and our Raul to his favored center of the park role. Both excelled playing in their proper positions and we had a good balance to the team. Even Konchelski had a good game!
For once we made changes properly as I agreed with our current manager in leaving Torres on the park for as long as possible in the hope that he would get a goal. It was nice to Shelvey come on again and a fit again Aurerlio.l Perhaps Pachecho is getting closer to a first team squad return with Spearing coming down with a long term injury.
Liverpool have a very tough away game, and lets face it, any away game is difficult with our current managers record in away matches Spurs played fantastic in the second half against Arsenal last week and White Heart lane has always been a difficult ground for us. It will be interesting to see what our current manager goes up in terms of formation. Personally I don't care what formation we go with as long as the players are played in their normal positions. I would bring Lucas straight back in for Poulsen, who did do well against West ham and I would change anyone else. Cole stays on the bench for me. I would also play Aurelio at left back but that wont' happen due to his lack of match practice.
