Liverpool were lucky to draw at St. Andrews on Sunday afternoon. Our goalkeeper was fantastic and was clearly the man of the match. When you goal keeper is man of the match you know it has been a bad day at the office.
We lacked creativity all over the park and our defending was very poor at times, in particular Glen Johnson. I know he is England's first choice right back but I'm not sure why he is our first choice right back. With Kuyt out for a month surely this is not a bad time to give Johnson a game on the right side of the midfield. I thought Carragher was the other player out of the 11 who performed well, although he was let off with one mistake that could of cost us dearly. Liverpool did not have a shot of note until the restart when Gerrard harmlessly shot at the keeper. Overall I thought we were awful but this was a result that I firmly expected so I was not disappointed, This is the team we have become because we have made money in the last 4 transfer windows.
Liverpool did improve in the last 15 minutes of the match when our new signing joined the game for the poor Lucas. Lucas and Poulsen simply are a pairing that I don't want to watch. They can't beat anyone and neither of them have an eye for a killer ball. Torres and Gerrard were fed crumbs all afternoon and only Hodgson can help me understand how both Maxi and Milan lasted the entire 90 minutes. Surely Babel or Ngog or Pacheo should have been given 15 minutes.
Our new boy from Fulham did just ok. He looked comfortable which i expected and he did get down the wings on occasion which was nice to see.
A finally a word about Torres. Anyone who slags this man off is an idiot. Sure he a bad game, everyone does but he needs our support not our criticism. Jamie Rednapps comments about Torres were diabolical. I never like Rednapp, even when he was club captain and I was thought he was truly over rated and he rarely put a foot in (when he did he got injured). He needs to keep his mouth shut, which I know won't happen as he works for Sky!
Hopefully Hodgson will give some other players a go on Thursday and those that perform well can come into the team on Sunday.
