I think most of you know that I was totally against the sacking of Rafael Benetiz. Rafa was our best manager since Daglishsh and the media seem to forget that Liverpool were not regular participants into the Champions league before he came along. He built us back up to be one of the most feared teams in Europe again. He signed players cast offs like Mascherano who is know the captain of Argentina (and if he sold will be sold for double what we paid). Little known keepers like Reina who is now one of the best in the world. Players like Kuyt who are finally getting their just due at the World Cup, never mind players like Agger, Torres. Sure, like every manager he has made mistakes but his positives far outweigh his negatives. LFC had the most players of any team at the World Cup.
One bad season does not define a club nor should it define a manager. If the players didn't want to play for him anymore they should have been sold so we could have bought players that did. The problem is that Rafa probably wanted to do this but he couldn't guarantee that the money from player sales would be given to our club because of the leeches that sit on our board. 4/5 of the current board members at LFC are out right liars. The lies that Hicks and Gillette have told are well documented the but the lies that Purslow and Broughton have told are only just starting to come out. Broughton, on his first day, said he was involved in the selling of LFC. Then he comes out and says very smugly I might add that of course a chairman would be involved in the hiring and firing process of a manager. If that is the case why didn't he say that at the start. Also I don't have a problem with supporters of others teams being on our books (most of our greatest players were boyhood Evertonian's) but what I do have a problem with is them not being able to give up on their loyalties once they are cashing a check from us. How is that Broughton couldn't attend the LFC V Chelsea match last year but he is comfortable enough to release Rafa andsign Hodgson. He also just approved the stamp the sale of Yossi "don't let the door hit you on the way out" Benyou. Liars! All of them. With Purslow and I don't even know where to start with him. Again, brought in to oversee the sale of the club, failed miserable in that challenge...he is a banker but yet he is qualified to fire Rafa and hire Hodgson?
Hicks, Gillette Purslow and Broughton-get out of our club, your not welcome anywhere
Well what can you do about i?t. I recently joined the www.spiritofshankly.com supporters union. They are doing great work and by all account held a fantastic protest in Liverpool on July 4th. It's estimated that 2000 supporters showed up which is a fantastic turn out. They are doing great work but they need members to keep the work going.
Finally, a little bit on the hiring of Hodgson. He seems like a good bloke, well spoken and all that. The biggest advantage he will bring is that the english media don't hate him so we will be well liked for a least a little while. I back the new manager 100% simply because he is the manager of my club, regardless of who appointed him. I wish him the best of success and I hope he brings home a trophy this year. Matters on the pitch still matter to me.

Rafa was sacked because he had no Plan B, playing Ngog hoping he could fill the boots of Torres? playing a lot of players out of position and not speaking to half of them? he spent an obscene amount of money on very average players with the exception of a few. Im forever grateful for the memories of Istanbul, but after 07 he has proved to be an average manager with only one style of football. The reason we have had a nightmare of a season is because other league managers cottoned onto his way of playing and applied the tactics to beat us, simple!! As for Martin Broughton, he explained to us all his reasons for not attending the chelsea game, he's a chelsea season ticket holder!! any chairman SHOULD have an interest of appointing a new manager, he's trying to sell the club and wants the best man for the job. SOME of the SOS group have conducted themselves in an inappropriate way since it was formed and have members who believe you shouldnt get a ticket if you dont live in L4?! well done

Thanks for honest account of all what has been going on at this great club of ours for the last 3 years which I totally agree with. Benetiz will go down as one of our "greats" managers and if the players didn't want to play for him they should be sold before they rot the club anymore. we need to support Hodgson even more then ever before the press start again on our case, the the fat guy from the Mail(forgoten his name)is main person for stating all this anti LFC campain! keep up the good work. All - as you're well aware this is a protest shirt on behalf of all supporters who believe that the club is being mismanaged by our current owners.
I've been clear throughout that it's a protest shirt with a two fold purpose:
1. It spreads the message visually and should encourage more questions to be asked by those among us who have yet to realise the truth about the state OUR club is in
2. It allows those who DO understand the predicament we face to buy and wear a shirt without the conflict of interest that would come from buying the official shirt and providing further revenue to the owners
It is NOT supposed to mimic or replicate the exisitng official kit.
It is NOT intended to be a redesign of the official kit - there are many differences the

Well said spike hughes!!
LFC correspondant responds with:
Your right. Average Manager...good enough for the champions of europe apparently.
I don't give a Blank if Broughton has 10 season ticket to Chelsea. If he is the Chairman of LFC I expect him to attend our games and support Liverpool.
How do you know Rafa didnt speak to half the palyers. You say after 07 he proved to be an average manager, i guess that leaves out the 09-10 season when we scored the most goals in the league, largest point tally in like 20 years in the league, beat madrid and united home away, etc etc. your right... Played some of the best football I have seen from an LFC side since the late 80's.
I'm sure, just like any union, that some of the members want things that I don't want but at least they are standing up to get rid of these leeches.
