That was is a great game tonight and once again showed Rafa Benetiz is the man to lead us. He somehow managed to get out best 11 players left on the field tonight in a line up that surprised everyone. I know we didn't do it in the end but my gooness we were close.
In the first I thought we marvelous, some of the best passing and movement I have seen out of us all season.

Make no mistake about A. Madrid are a very good side and they did drag themselves back into the match in the second half.

The much maligned Lucas had another fantastic game in the middle of the park and has been an extremely consistent player for us this season. He has grown tremendously this year and credit to the manager for sticking by him. As a side note every time I get an email saying that we need to sell Lucas I immediately hit the delete key!

Once extra time came I thought our best chance lay in the lottery of spot kicks, although I was at a loss after Gerrard and Kuyt as to who would actually take the kicks, which just goes to show you the lack of depth we have at the moment in terms of proving goal scorers in the side. Yossi's goal was fantastic after a great ball by Lucas..As I was jumping up and down my dad sat on the couch saying it's too soon, it's too soon over and over again. He couldn't have been more correct. Glen Johnson's aerial ability was found wanting again as he got nowhere near the ball and allowed Forlan to score again against us. We should have signed him two years ago when we were rumored to be interested in him.

I was very disappointed in defeat as I always am however I feel that the players worked so hard for the supporters tonight and they did themselves proud. Any team would miss Torres and we almost got the final with out our best player.

It's been a terrible season but nights like tonight make me proud to be a Red
