Well another meeting with our pesky neighbours is approaching and Everton are on a pretty good run of form at the moment. Everton's first half display against Man City was the best 45 minutes I had seen all year, until this Sunday, when United destroyed Arsenal. Everton were simply brilliant in that match so this will be a tough derby, as they always are.
Liverpool's recent performances have been better, but without Torres we just lack that fire power up front that can be so important in these games. I'm not sure what kind of team Liverpool will line up with but I don't see Alberto getting a start in this match. I think Rafa will go with Lucas and Mascherano in the middle of the park, but one of the brilliant things about our manager is that he is unpredictable.
I also think the big Greek will be at the back again as he gives us a good presence in the air that we have been lacking all season. The key man in this game will be Gerrard. We need him to start firing on all cylinders soon and he seemed to really improve in the Bolton game last Saturday.
The Goodison derby was an interesting one this season. Liverpool didn't play well at all but battled very well and scored two decent goals. It is going to take another battling performance on Saturday if we are going to be able to collect all three points.
Finally, I do hope that both sets of supporters respect each other before, during and after the match, regardless of the score-line. Just 21 years ago this May shouts of “Merseyside, Merseyside” could be heard from both sets of supporters on the way to Wembley. Let's show the world this can be the friendly derby again.

A crucial game for both teams but particularly for Liverpool and their quest for a top 4 finish. With next weeks game away at Arsenal and Man City having 2 games in hand, nothing less than a win is acceptable.
While Liverpool have been below par and in some cases damn awful, the mark of a top team is to grind out results when you aren't playing well and when you are suffering numerous injuries to key players at various times (Torres, Gerrard, Benayoun, Aquilani, Agger, Riera, etc.) it hasn't been easy. Add to that a beach ball, inadequate tranfer funds to strengthen and those pesky Americans who are driving this great club into the ground, it has been nothing less than a season of immense termoil.
If we had the money that Man City / Chelsea has we would have David Villa & Silva in our squad and a Stanley Park stadium to look forward to. Instead we open the paper to daily reports about Benitez future, the LFC (Liverpool Financial Crisis) and speculation of missing out on the top 4

I think Everton's wing play will be a problem with Donovan and Pienaar giving Carra and Insua fits. I look for Kuyt to get the start up front and if Aurelio is fit to work on the left flank to help Insua cover Donovan.
Do you think Rafa should try to get something out of Babel up front rather than the wing with Maxi in the squad now. He'd be third choice(Kuyt and Ngog ahead) but he himself says that he is more comfortable as a Striker.
Keep up the good work and Come on you, Reds!

Steven Gerrard will make the difference for Liverpool along with Kuyt and Babel and Reina

Well, calling your neighbours pesky and then ended by saying that hopefully there will be a 'friendly' derby.
You have drawn the first blood.
Rafa, either brilliant or upright stubborn.
You take the call

who the hell wants a friendly derby? if you want one then go have a stroll in stanley park and organize a match with everton fans there...am so sick of people forcing issues that are clearly out of context...we are not in the 80s mr! we want a full-bloodied match and if you can't watch...go home and feed the chickens!

The Reds need a win in order to keep the pressure on Spurs, City, Villa and co. I just hope Rafa does not line up with a flat back 8 again!

Hello to all LFC fans.
Rafa is doing a very good job and have lots of respect to him but would love to see Gerrard back in midfield with Mashcerano and let either Babel or Ngog along with Kuyrt in front for now.Of course we miss Torres. We need to give the chance to the youngsters especially Babel. He is a very fast and talented player. I can assure you if he plays 5 games in a row for 90 minutes , you'll see the difference.
As for Liverpool against Everton if the players believe in themselves along with the Captain Gerrard with more motivation, the desire to kill and win the game till the last minute ( as we played to win the Champions League )then I can assure all LFC fans that we are back to the top level.
I am always with you team no matter what.
REMEMBER! YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE. Thanking in advance to all the fans who's gonna be in Merseyside supporting LFC and being the 12th players on the ground. "Go Liverpool" Regards from HEMAN of Mauritius living in Australia.

well, if I was a Liverpool supporter I would be calling for a lenient Everton crowd too. They keep getting better and better as the season goes on (how much did that squad cost?), while Rafa comes up with new formations to get nine defenders on the pitch. Interesting choices for a supposed top four team and one, I am sure, Everton will be glad to run at all day. Not sure that Rangers offcast Kyrgiakos will stop Cahill (he can jump like a flea that boy!) and N'gog's a No'go
