Liverpool were bloody awful against Wolves. Rafa and Gerrard can spin it any way they but the honest truth is that if you'd swapped kits before the match you could not have been able tell which team was Wolves and which team was Liverpool.

The Reds had one shot on target and that was a fluke more than anything. Who knew that Liverpool's best chance would happen in the opening minute when Alberto Riera flashed a header wide.

Lot's off huff and puff and the big Greek at the back, Sotirios Kyrgiakos, has been a pleasant surprise but when your central defender is the best man on the field against Wolves you know it's been a bad day at the office.

Our captain had two good chances to put a shot in but failed to control the ball properly on both occasion. Gerrard, like the majority of his Liverpool team-mates were well below par. It's easy to second guess the manager after this starting 11 failed to perform but they should have been able to defeat Wolves.

Personally I don't think Gerrard should have played and I said so before the start of the match. He should be eased back into action and Alberto had a good game for us last week but I understand the desire to have our heartbeat back in the team. It's just that when he is off the boil, typically Liverpool are as well and that was the case against Wolves.

Four more days before the transfer window shuts. I'm still hoping we can sign a striker but it doesn't look that way.

Totally agree with that considering chelsea smashed wolves 4-0 easily. i also think aquilani should hav started in the gerrard role like he did against tottenham because he plays well there. i think liverpool should sack rafa beneitez and bring in someone like hiddunk or mourihno. in 2003 we sacked houllier when we were in a similar position no matter how many trophys we won in 2001, we still sacked him. we need to bring in a manager who is consistent like mourihno who has been winning trophys eft right and centre with porto, chelsea and inter milan

Can you please ask RAFA these questions?

1)Why did Rafa take out Aquilani ?

2) Why can't he play Gerrard in the center, next to Mascherano ?

3) Why does Rafa PERSIST in playing Lucas?

The game was very disapoiment game i have never see Liverpool playing like that.asif they are second strength team. The manager should be should be change wright now not until the end off the session, Sammy Lee can handle the team better than Rafa until the end of the session. bye-bye Rafa

i personally think the position of liverpool where they are now is not gd coz the players has no morale to play and change that not until rafa wil get out of liverpool.i believe with new coach things wil turn around.strong liverpool supporter from uganda.

I'm likewise all for getting Gerrard back into the team - he's been at the heart of almost everything good that's happened in the past five years at the club. However, I didn't like what Rafa said about Aquilani - that it was either Gerrard or Aquilani on the night. Is this another case of Rafa changing his mind about a player's position after he's bought him? I thought Aquilani was bought to replace Alonso in central midfield, not as back up to Gerrard in the attacking midfield role? Rafa said it was too rough n ready a game for Aquilani (he preferred, in central midfield, Lucas and Mascherano). But let's be honest here, Wolves are a poor team, and reminiscent of loads of poor teams in the Premier League. If Aquilani can't cut it against the likes of Wolves, as Rafa has often hinted but I find hard to believe, we might as well get rid of him (Aquilani, that is).

I'm solidly behind Benitez, but I'm amazed he can't see how limited the side is when Lucas and Mascherano play together.

Its pretty sad how Liverpool can raise their game when against "big" teams, but faded when it comes to "lesser" teams like Wolves. Rafa for the past few seasons have attributed his team's failures on the pitch due to many other factors, but surely, he should take a long hard look at himself now.

we need a striker to help torres. playing as a lone striker has really goten him prone to these never ending injuries! Even during the macthes, one actually notices that the lone striker role gets him so tired by the start of second half.
rafa please do something and this the reason why we have no done well this season as expected.

Yah.. Liverpool more dependable to Gerrad as well Torres because these 2 players contributed more to club success for past few years. But when they are in injured list RB should play very important role in terms of stragegy and also putting right players at right place. RB should play with 2 strikers instead one so that they can create more opportunities rather than getting tired running around to get balls and end no goals been scored. Secondly, the midfielders should stop opponent team at center rather than let the defenders do their jobs. As a results most of the loses came at ending time.. 2 times with Lyon and some in BPL matches. Stop this immediately.

honestly, speaking Gerrard was n"t in the match Wolves, very on like him to have missed clear two chances but all dsame,it was gud.

jst tink dat we do need a reliable n very strong striker to put our scoring chance up any tym Torres is off d pitch.

"Alberto had a good game for us last week..."

I know he knocked down a ball for Kuyt to bang home but I must assume this was an attempt at a joke, right?

Posted by liv4eva on 01/31/2010

liv needs a creative midfielder.what about riquelme?where s he now?he is world class player.why benitez not think about him?he definitely can replace alonso place.benitez..please get riquelme quickly!!!!he should settle in anfield because there are a lot of argentine players there.......

liverpool, rafa and gerald are all ,so fucked up

Posted by adrian on 02/01/2010

well, kevin b, looks like not too many people really care as to what you have to say.lol

Posted by SLYX on 02/01/2010

Liverpool should be able to moke it into the champions league, with or without a striker, but we really need backup for Fernando Torres. He is played by Benitez as a lone striker and hence, opposition defenders always rough him up. David Ngog is just not a suitable replacement. When Torres is absent, I feel that Dirk Kuyt should play as a striker. Maxi Rodriguez or Yossi Benayoun can play on the right instead.

Am a liverpool fan/great fan since child hood, so i think that Rafael must be given a chance and yes we still need a stricker, for Steven G i think and know that he is still the best.

I could not agree more that Liverpool were pathtic against Wolves. Although Stoke equalised in the final minutes of the game I thought they were awful. If my memeory serves me they had two shots at goal only and one ended in the back of the net thanks to some unfortunate goalkeeping. Remember this is a team that RAFA built. He has spent leave alone wasted more money than any other maneger in the history of Liverpool yet he complains about not having enough money to buy players. If one look at the pre saeson friendlies one could have forseen that Liverpool were not going to have a good season. what a shame. If you beat UNITED and Chelsea and draw with Arsenal twice and dont win the league you will never win the league. He should go to Juventus now and not at the end of the season. I think that Rafa is waiting for an offer from REAL MAdrid at the end of this season.

Posted by vilay 78 on 02/02/2010

I also think playing Lucas is a big problem! Its clear that its not working trying him there.

Of course, Torres's absence is the biggest blow.

Posted by neo 25 on 02/02/2010

The only reason Rafa wont leave is because liverpool cant afford to fire him and he knows it

Posted by Nura on 02/02/2010

criticisms can not work. people should stop blaming Rafa for what is happening to the Team now, if you are a real Fan why don't you look for a suggestion? I pray and hope that our Liverpool will return back to the game with a complete form.

Iam a Man U fan but i luv Gerard and i call him "GENERAL".Its a pity.hes such a world class.he will be a gud combination with d on fire and rampaging Wayne Rooney.
