I try to keep my column about football as much as possible but this weekends events by Tom Hick Junior have forced me to speak about other matters.
His four letter email tirade to a supporter of Liverpool Football Club is a complete disgrace. Tom Hicks Junior learned from his father, which just illustrates the type of man Tom Hicks Senior is.
This email is perfect example of the lack of dignity these two custodians of our club have. They are they type of people who are used to getting everything they want in life and no one stands up to their disgraceful behavior. "Junior" believes he can get away with whatever he wants but in this case he was very wrong. What kind of businessman is sending emails back to his clients in the middle of the night with four letter words in them? I will tell you the kind, a stupid one.
Gillette and Hicks are a continued embarrassment to our club, regardless of the amount of money they spend on players. This is not about football but rather about having respect and class and knowing how to treat people. Hicks and Gillette and their entourage don't have it and never will.
Gillette and Hicks get our club. You are not Welcome at LFC.

I couldn't agree more. This has been a nightmare that continues to get worse. Hicks Sr. coming out and promising "big" summer signings highlights that fact that these men have no idea what the supports of this club truly care about. To think that promising us summer signings would appease us in the immediate aftermath of this disgraceful incident is a monumental miscalculation. Liverpool doesn't need men with cash, especially those devoid of honor and dignity.

This is just the highlight to what the current ownership has done to our club.

Totally agree Kevin, how can a director of a club be sending that type of rubbish out. What happened to these blokes coming in and continuing on the tradition and values that Liverpool FC has worked so hard and long for.
The quicker these Yanks are out the better. Can only hope Purslow and co. can get us back on track and back on top where this great, historic, proud club should be.

Hello there Mr. Kevin Brodie -I salute you for your article on Tom HIcks Jnr and his father.-explicitely correct except for one thing -you are being too kind calling him just a rich lout. They are a positive disgrace to this club we all love so much.I have been a Liverpool fan since 1974 and it's the first time I witness anything like what's been happening at Anfield and still going on. Now I don't have anything against Rick Parry for giving so much in the period he was there but I believe he had a lot to do with convincing everyone to go for the americans instead of the other group who could / would now probably be bankrolling for new players when Rafa needed to do that earlier this season. So without offending Parry's intergrity I'm beginning to feel there's more to do with him getting these people in and he went without a whimper probably because he had a healthy bank balance? One never knows does one? HA! ! !But I guess it won't be long now. LIke father like son.

I am in total agreement with you. The letter sent to the supporter demonstrates the American owners lack class. The supporter may have written something provocative, but as a professional businessman and a director, that is not the way to respond to your client.
Liverpool FC is in a dire situation because of the two American idiots. They think they know how to run a business, but Liverpool FC is not an ordinary business. Unless they know how to treat the supporters and fans with respect, they are not fit to manage Liverpool FC. Those douchebags should pack their bags and return to where they came from.

I couldn't agree more with you. They see this only as a business move - to make money...but what they don't get is that they have to invest money into the club to get any return. We desperately need a change of owners otherwise Liverpool will keep falling down and down. Once we get some finance in, we can buy some quality players to replace the likes of Lucas and Kuyt...people who can create changes or clinically finish them off.
I'm also very scared - if we don't finish in the top four there's a chance Torres might be sold to raise money. That won't go towards our transfer budget, but merely in the owners' pockets.

As an American and fan of Liverpool, I am embarrassed by the current owners. I'm sad to say that "Junior's" email tirade seems to be typical behaviour of "American" owners of sports teams. A behaviour that is rude and inconsiderate and doesn't give a damn about the fans! These guys have gotta go and the sooner the better! They might know hockey but they sure as hell don't know anything about football! As an American fan, I am embarrassed!

complete and utter disgrace. does that idiot really think he could send that reply and not get anything for it? he really isn't thinking that's for sure. this financial problem that is looming over anfield is the direct consequence of the mishandling of the club by these 2 americans. they are selfish, arrogant and to be honest not very smart as well. someone should slap them round the face and tell them never to pick up fag ends.
being a fan, i still watch every single game as i possibly can but without great expectations. God only knows what is going on in the changing room and the minds of our lads during this gloomy period.

At the hands of these Amarican,Liverpool is losing its history and pride and becoming a loughing stock day in day out. I am afraid we are falling down, Something very special need to happen but also i think fans have not done enough to force these amaricans out. a special mechanism, very special must be invented
I dont buy the idea of another ownership, that idea of fans ownership like in bercelona is very special but seem like many fans dont buy it. hey come on LFC fans please lets do something special for our beloved football club Liverpool

As a 2.5 decade staunch fan from Malaysia, I cannot agree more with Kevin. The yanks do not u'stand LFC. Their quarellsome hearts r not in it. They are in it for the USD only. They don't u'stand pounds. We pray hard that they are booted out of LFC fast and get what they deserve. Mr Hicks and Mr Gillet ... if u r reading this, pls exit, the red carpet to the door is inviting. We ve been watching and r ashamed of u big time. The messages are united from all corners of the globe.

I agree the comments made by all of frustrated loyal liverpool fan.We Liverpool fan from Brunei was so frustrated ever since Gillet and Hick bought the club..this rich guys have no respect for the club history, what the respect is MONEY and Fame.We want our club back....For player likes lucas and Babel..its really dissapointed both doesnt have the creativity and both mosty of the time give away possesion so easy and i cant imagine they can play for the national team!!as for Kyut..you still rock..i have not seen other liverpool player as youself work so hard to get the ball..keep up the spirit. And to Torres the c;lub pays $25M for your quality..and stop being a baby towards the ref...play as what you are worth!!

Where is the disconnect of contending for the title last season, to barely being able to field a decent squad? Hicks and Gillete dont have any reason being part of Liverpool. The US is not a Footy nation...yet. And until that is the case no more American Investors! I'm so freakin pissed at the way the season is going that I just want it to be done with, so I can watch world cup and then hope for the start of the new season! Comon lads!

Well we are F****D aren't we just to use an expression Hicks Jnr understands. The americans have no idea about football. By the way if you look at the American culture and the way it is taught in there schools you will understand why they are the way they are. You need to understand that they own the business LFC. Problem is that they forget they do not own the heart and passion that is LFC. Everytime I hear YNWA sang before a game at anfield it brings tears to my eyes. Have you ever seen these bastards have any emotion. Have you ever seen any passion at a Gridiron game. Not the same as in the movies. To them buying LFC is like buying a toy. They will soon get sick of the toy and discard it. Then what will they leave behind, a total mess.

Looks like it is "Endfield" for Liverpool. They are bleeding badly from the "Liver" in a "pool" of blood. END OF THE ROAD FOR LIVERPOOL !!!
At this rate, you will be walking alone !!
Never look like a contender for the EPL championship not even to mention the Chmapion league or FA Cup.
Rafal, step aside for Kenny Dalglish ! you are not even close to what he has achieved for Liverpool.

Send those yanks back to where they belong...in the zoo!
As the owner of the club, They shouldn't expect great return by spending so little, because they definitely know that if they give peanuts, they'll get monkeys. You don't need a genius to agree with that.
We as fans of this beloved footbal club have gone through enough of this shitty drama...we don't care how much money that you thought you could have generated when you bought this club...we just want results. We want to be up there again...as the one to beat! ACT NOW!

Get the yanks out , I have supported Liverpool since 1972, and have never seen the club , in so much turmoil. where is the leadership , none ,
They take for granted the fans , and everything
that stands for liverpool football club, GO NOW
If they have any sense, or decentency, they would pack there bags. Get the club back to what the traditions stood for

I have to agree with everyones comments, The 2 American jokers that own our great club must go. They were offered double what they payed but refused. how smart are they, not very smart at all. Also their Baseball team looks to be in the same state as Liverpool. Obviously not very good business men.

if these cowboys(hicks and gilette) dont leave our club i fear there is worse to come i.e torres having to leave to another premier league club...with rafa we will have to bite the bullet for this season and give him one more go at winning the title next season.

I am a Kenyan and i have been a Liverpool fan since 1981 and I will always be one.
The American owners are using the club to sort out their own financial mess in the states they dont care about the state, image and history of the club. I think Mr. Hicks Jr's comments are just a testament to that fact.
I wish this guys could be bought out by the fans. The club has been wounded because of the carelessness and impunity of the owners.

I've been a Liverpool fan for years, and as an American I'm disappointed in the behavior that these men have shown not only Liverpool supporters but also the world.
To call them stupid isn't a good assessment. They have to have some intelligence in order to still be making money. But they are ignorant of what's going on with this once great football club. They don't understand the fan base, they don't understand the inner workings of the Premier League itself, and they are ignorant of proper conduct in the public realm.
It's a disgrace to Americans, it's a disgrace to Liverpool F.C., and it's a disgrace to the football community.

Say what you want about Mr. Gillet but he resurrected a story franchise here in Canada, Le Club de Hockey Canadien. He always displayed dignity and respect towards our team and brought them out a period of great peril. For that he is commended.

About
Kevin Brodie has been fortunate enough to see some of Liverpool’s greatest teams and players in action over the last 35 years. Reds fans are spoiled for choice in trying to pick their favourite memory. The best early memory I have of watching Liverpool in person was our 7-0 thrashing of Spurs, with the 7th goal being a thing of beauty. Watching us in 89 lift the FA Cup after the terrible disaster at Hillsborough was also very special. My favourite Liverpool moment on the TV has to be the Champions League final in 2005. It was a day I will never forget.
