Liverpool were far from their best on Sunday as an attacking threat but defensively we were the superior side and capitalized on a mistake by Yobo for the second and got a deflected goal for our first (our first deflected goal that I can remember in some time).

It's really too bad that Everton can't play with the same heart, determination when they face Man United. I watched that game and Everton frankly lay down and gave United all the time in the world.

Against us they actually seemed to try and had a long period of applied pressure without really causing us too many problems. Everton had two great chances to score, the first after a cultured long throw came across our box. The second after a free kick was hit into the box, Reina denying Everton with a great double save.

Fellini was a threat throughout the match with his aerial fire power nodding on balls but Liverpool did well with every second ball. We defended as a team, Insua following up one of his worst displays as a red in Hungary with a very good display in the derby. Johnson offered very little going forward, minus a fantastic cross, that Insua somehow had saved by Howard. Johnson actually seemed nervous out of the four defenders.

Our midfield was led by Mascherano who was just fantastic. Reina made that great double save but Masch was the clear man of the match for me. Even is long range passing was good! Gerrard was clearly unfit and really did very little until the second goal and Ngog should flashes of composure, even for someone so young. Kuyt was also poor in Hungary and has a bad few weeks (who hasn't) but this was a much improved display from him. He took his goal well even thought it was easy, is work rate got him to that position to score.

I thought Rafa's subs were perfect. Yossi and Riera opening up an Everton team that was going all out for the equalizer. After the second goal Liverpool could have added more to the final score, which would have flattered us a touch.

Overall anytime you beat Everton it's a good day so putting up the Xmas tree was a lot more fun on this day. Anytime you beat them without a 100% Gerrard and no Torres it's even sweeter.
