Liverpool

That was a great week of football wasn’t it. Liverpool were completely played off the park in Italy and deserved to go down 2-0 defeat . As Rafa said it was one of the worst displays I had seen in a long time from Liverpool and the worst display I had seen in the Champions League under Rafa (and yes that does include the game at home when Leto played for us, believe that was Marsalle)

We just didn’t have a clue on Tuesday night, especially in the first half. Sure we looked a bit better in the second half but that was not hard. We got what we deserved in that match.

On to the bridge and the rent boys. Chelsea narrowly deserved their victory yesterday and as Rafa always says it’s the little things that separate the good teams. Yesterday the little things went Chelsea’s way because their big name players performed.

That was the best we have played in some time in defense. We looked more comfortable with Masch in front of the back 4. Lucas was adequate in the other midfielder role but we were let down by our wing players. Riera didn’t cause any damage down his flank and was guilty of giving the ball away. Kuyt also did not have one his better games for us. Frankly Gerrard was awful yesterday and if you want to look at reasons we got beat yesterday look no farther then our captain. Now I think Gerrard is probably Liverpool’s greatest all round player, at least in the top two, but he is having a very poor season so far and yesterday was no exception. He was second to most balls and was caught flat footed an awful lot.

Drogba was unplayable yesterday, mainly because he spent just as much time lying on the ground. With Atkinson in charge of the match I knew Torres would not get any decisions and the Tom Cruise wannabe Drogba getting every decision. We were afraid to touch him on many occasions with his theatrics surely doing him no favors in the eyes of the neutrals.

Liverpool did not do enough to win the game yesterday as we didn’t test the keeper enough. Our shooting was either non-existent or wild. The only save of note until late was a Riera free-kick.

Liverpool’s premier season looks to be up in smoke at this point as a potential battle for 4th looks to be looming.

I don't think so, I'm Man-utd. supporter and i still believed Liv-pool can turn things around when they put their feet firm on the ground. Premier league this season 2009 is wide open any team can win in any games, its too competitive and i can't waitto see the end of the season 2009.
