Liverpool

The Liverpool players seemed to play with a real belief from the first whistle to the last, although the last 15 minutes of normal time and the 5 minutes of injury time(not sure where the ref got 5 minutes from,) was very nerve racking. Every time a United player went to ground the decision seemed to go for them. They had quite free kicks in dangerous positions and I was happy that certain number #7 was playing in Spain.

Liverpool seemed to have a balance in the team that was missing in recent weeks and our Brazilian left sided midfielder really helped the side. His dead balls and work rate were very good all day long. Yossi was popping up everywhere and really running at the United defense. Of course, Kuyt worked so hard but the battle was won the middle of the park. Our pair of Lucas and Masch dominated their central midfielders. Glen Johnson was a solid right back with Agger and Carragher doing a job on Rooney and Berbatov

The first half was very tight with Liverpool having three of four excellent opportunities to take the lead. United had a very good chance after a header from Rooney, their play leading up to that header was brilliant. Of course, watching these games I always feel that somehow they would get a jammy goal but that never happened, even with all those free kicks being awarded. United's best chance of the 2nd half fell to their new "Ronaldo" who hit the cross bar. Valencia had a good game for United and was a danger man for them giving Insua a tough time. The game changed for the good when Yossi's slide rule pass played in Torres. Once he held off Rio I felt the ball was only ending up in one place, That boy is some player.

Once again Ferguson has complained about the ref's, this time criticizing his experience. I thought Liverpool did get the rub of the green in the first half but with the United players surrounding the ref at half-time that all changed in the second half. Owen pushed Carragher and then Carragher fouled him..and Carragher got booked..Ferguson says he should have seen red. Then Ferguson complains that Vidic got sent off.surely if he thinks that Carraghers was a red card then he must think that Vidic's Rugby style tackle on Kuyt was a straight red. He also complained that Carragher's tackle on Carrick was wild and should have been a spot kick in the first half. . It was wild..and at Old Trafford it was probably a spot kick even though Carragher touched the ball, but he neglects to mention Berbatov's pull down of Kuyt in the box,

At least he did say we were worthy winners, which on the day we were. This does not make us a great team over night, just like the recent loss of games does not make us an awful team. We need to keep working hard and to get players fit.

The game was capped off by a nice move from Kuyt to Lucas to Ngog who took his goal well. The celebrations started in earnest but it only 3 points. I heard John Aldridge ask after match if we could play them every week. While we might want to I'm not sure my heart can take it.

Mr. Rafael Benitez,

For the next 6 games, please field the same team.

Also please rest Jamie Carrangher, As he is making a lot a mistakes, The Red card today proved it. He was luck against Man. United.

Ryan Babel should be in the first 11. Also Martin Skrtel.

This is my suggestion. It all upto you, on your selection. Every year we keep loosing good players.

All The Best Liverpool FC in the future.

"Owen pushed Carragher and then Carragher fouled him..and Carragher got booked".

I may not be a United fan nor Liverpool's. But there's something I need to point out.

The author needs to get an eye check. Michael Owen was racing towards to collecting the through pass from Rooney and how in the hell was that a push on Carragher when Owen was clearly being pushed.

Now, I'm convinced that author like these writing for Liverpool are something else now...

About
Kevin Brodie Kevin Brodie has been fortunate enough to see some of Liverpool’s greatest teams and players in action over the last 35 years. Reds fans are spoiled for choice in trying to pick their favourite memory. The best early memory I have of watching Liverpool in person was our 7-0 thrashing of Spurs, with the 7th goal being a thing of beauty. Watching us in 89 lift the FA Cup after the terrible disaster at Hillsborough was also very special. My favourite Liverpool moment on the TV has to be the Champions League final in 2005. It was a day I will never forget.
