Liverpool’s game was a thriller for the neutral supporter but as a Liverpool fan I felt it was taking time off of my life. A team that was so comfortable at the back last year looks ragged at times this year. Both of our centre-backs were guility of poor play in the first half. Carragher almost gifting West Ham the lead inside of the first few minutes.
The game was shaping up nicely after Torres beat his man and toe poked the ball home. I really celebrated that goal as it showed just what this player is capable of when he is feeling good. It was a fantastic individual goal. A few minutes later and West Ham had us pinned back.
It was a push and I would have been probably upset had it not given the other way around I did think it was soft spot kick. The player touched the ball twice but this Ref (Andy mariner) never gives us anything so I was not surprised that the goal stood.
Liverpool then got control of the game again, after a corner that was headed on by Gerrard (we finally seem to have him the middle during corners) the alert Kuyt got a toe on the ball and poked it home. Man marking just doesn’t work!
Skrtel had a chance to clear the ball before the break but instead sat on the ball to long and lost possession. The ball went out for a corner and from this corner Carlton Cole headed in a bullet past Reina. Zonal marking just doesn’t work!
I couldn’t believe it at half-time. Liverpool looked great going forward but very nervy at the back. To our credit both centre-backs (and the rest of the side) defended much better in the second half. Our attacking players looked lively with only Gerrard perhaps not up to his usual high standards.
I was not surprised to see Kuyt subbed on the 60 minute mark, but I was surprised to see that it was Babbel not Rierra who replaced him. Babbel still made some horrible passes when he came on but he actually looked quick in this game for some reason. His cross for Torres' goal was fantastic. Let’s not underestimate that finish however, it was a remarkable header in between two players with pin point accuracy. Torres had a fantastic match and was the best player on the pitch (I thought Carlton Cole was also excellent).
It is always good to go down to London and come away with the 3 points but we need to clean up our mistakes and start defending as a team.

I am a liverpool fan and I totally agree with this report - Liverpool have to regain their confidence as a team so that they can compete against the best in the Premier League and other teams in Europe like we have seen last season.
They should not make the mistake of sacking Benitez as he has achieved so much with so little.
