Liverpool

Hello Readers, sorry that it has been such a quiet summer for me. It has also been a quiet summer for Liverpool on the transfer front. Only one name of note has come into the fray with Glen Johnson to start the season at right back. At the time of writing Liverpool have sold our right-back of two years to Madrid but no one of note has moved on. The stories are that Alonso will be gone in a few days and that Dossena looks to be on his way out as well.

Liverpool's off season should have been easy for Rafa. He should've had a squad of happy players. He should have been looking making to look to make a couple of minor tweaks/improvements. The summer has turned to be anything but easy for Rafa and Liverpool. Both Alonso and to some extent Mascherano have been ruining the summer for Liverpool.

From the get go the rumours that Alonso wanted to leave were circulating. His silence on the story has confirmed this all along. Once he put in a formal transfer request he backed us into a corner but to Rafa's credit he is not letting Real run over us and his sticking to his guns of £30m. Let’s just hope we do get near that amount.

On one level I can understand Alonso wanting to go back to Spain. He has given us 5 years at the club and was not treated very well last summer. On the other hand, the fans adore him and the manager has got his confidence back in the player. He has been part of a project and is now going to leave before it's completed. This makes us a worse team and limits our options to control games.

Other major concerns for Liverpool are at the back. Deggen/Spearing is our second choice right back. Dossena is our second choice left back. With Agger having back problems and Skrtel out we look to be very short at the back.

Finally, I leave to back to Liverpool on Thursday. I'm taking my wife, 5 and 2 year old to their first game on Saturday against A. Madrid. The following week I travel down to London to see us take on Spurs, tickets pending. I just got my dad and I two tickets for the Kop for our home opener against Stoke.

All the best. YNWA

i think rafa did not well in determine who's in and out for this season. it's been a waste when hjm sold alonso to madrid. alonso is the best central player. nowadays, they used javier and lucas and i found there is no 'alive' in central comprared last season. now rafa is hoping from aquilani but it's not yet proven by him. hope rafa realise his wrong and take some paradigm to take the pride of reds. you'll neva walk alone.arios
