With the visit to the Stadio Friuli posing a real threat of yet another setback to the Del Neri era, Juventus were able to overcome the Zebrette in a comfortable 4-0 victory and will hope that this is just a taste of things to come. Goals from Leonardo Bonucci, Fabio Quagliarella, Claudio Marchisio and Vincenzo Iaquinta sealed the win for the Bianconeri as they kick-started their campaign in emphatic fashion.

Week 2 of the new season saw Sampdoria visit the Stadio Olimpico in Turin. Following a thoroughly entertaining game, the Blucerchiati left for Genoa with a point following a thrilling 3-3 draw. Goals from new boys Fabio Quagliarella and Simone Pepe were not enough for Juve as they looked for their first win of the season, as a brace from Nicola Pozzi and a strike from Italy’s golden boy Antonio Cassano were enough to ensure a share of the spoils.
