This is a game that should be soon forgotten. Im not going to do a normal write-up. It doesn't make sense to talk about a game when I have literally nothing good to say. Rather, I'm going to talk about something else: Formations.
Formations
It’s no secret that our best formation is the 4-4-2 Diamond, but throughout the course of the season Mourinho has used a 4-2-3-1. This formation would be perfect for Inter if someone like Zlatan was the "1". Sadly, he's no longer with us (I'm sure he's dead to you just like he's dead to me) and we've been left with Samuel Eto'o, who in his own right, is a terrific striker. But I think all of you can agree that Eto'o is no substitute for Zlatan in the Inter squad and he's left a lot to be desired.
In the 4-2-3-1 Milito is usually employed as the "1". I must say he's a pretty terrible lone striker. He needs a striker partner to help open up space. Only with space can Milito be his deadly self. This formation takes away our best striker's main weapon by restricting his movement and mobility. When playing this system it appears to me that he's being marked by both centre-backs and for a man of Milito's stature, that isn't such a good thing.
The "3" that usually support the "1" are Pandev-Sneijder-Eto'o. Sneijder is in his usual trequartista hole and both Pandev and Eto'o, neither of whom are wingers, take a flank each. Here's my issue with the "3": If you're going to do it Mou' at least play a proper winger like Quaresma! Playing two strikers in those roles really takes away from the teams fluency. We look stiff and rigid when we have those two out there. We also lack creativity and options as they both take space way from Sneijder who, by force, is left rather stationary in the trequartista position.
The "2" consist of the rest of the midfielders. My issue with the "2" is that both are central and neither play a more holding role (i.e. Defensive Midfield). This leaves us VERY open as there is no real protection for the back-four. When using the 4-4-2 Diamond, Cambiasso plays the pivot and marshals the midfield like a true champion while providing cover for the back line.
What i gather from it all is that we don't have the personnel to field the 4-2-3-1 and our best option other than the 4-4-2 Diamond is a 4-3-3.
What do you guys think?

I think you're absolutely right about the 4-2-3-1 -- it might work if we had some committed wingers who were good enough to play consistently. (Mancini obviously wasn't, and as much as I've pulled for him in the past, I don't think Quaresma's ever going to work here.) But since we don't, it's all folly. Pandev and Balo can look dangerous on the wings at times, but that's just not what they're built to do.
Refresh my memory, when have we played a 4-3-3 this season?

If memory serves me right, we've usually play a 4-3-3 if both Sneijder and Stankovic are out at the same time.
Times we've used the 4-3-3 this season? against Livorno(2-0 win), against Florentina (1-0 win), Calgiari (3-0 win). and thats the one's that I could call off the top of my head.
Times when we've used the 4-2-3-1? against Udinese (3-2 struggling win) and last week against Genoa (0-0 draw).
The numbers speak for themselves.

Although not a winger, Eto'o is quite used to playing wider as he did it fairly often at Barca. I think Mourinho has played this formation due to the lack of quality and number of injuries in midifield in an attempt to fit his best players (namely the strikers) into the system whilst still maintaining a semblance of balance. The target man or 1 has a slightly different role to normal target men in that the general attack seems to go via the wings before switching into the middle, rather than straight to the 1 al la Zlatan, once near the box they will try to play it in. Once we have our compliment of midfielders back I am sure they will more back to the more conventional system of the diamond 4-4-2.
I think post season we will look to mix up the midfield a bit and bring in a couple of new players, better suited to the system and Mourinho (if he stays)

1 think 4-3-3 will be okay against team kike chelsea because they always believe on 4-4-2 while you have samuel in the middle both millito and balotelli up wings.is gonna be dangerous.wishing jose good luck.
