A second draw in the southern city of Malmo concludes Fulham's 10 day trip to Sweden, but it could have been better. Danny Murphy sidefoots an early penalty wide.

So it's three pre-season draws on the spin for the Whites after another entertaining affair with Malmo, currently riding high in 2nd place in their domestic season. Ray Lewington is saying all the right things to persuade the board a continuation of his team stewardship might not be such a bad idea in the current climate.

“To be honest we have taken so much from the last 10 days - it’s been a fantastic trip for all involved both for the players and the staff," he said as the side now return to the UK and prepare for a Saturday showdown with Portsmouth. Meanwhile the board continue to remain tight-lipped about any new managerial moves.

Again picking a very strong side, Murphy missed from the spot after just 5 minutes when Bobby Z was blocked off in the box. Brede Hangeland was back in defence to partner Aaron Hughes and David Stockdale again kept goal in Schwarzer's absence. Zamora headed a fine Riise cross just over, had one in the net disallowed for offside and looked both fit and hungry following ankle surgery in the close season. He and Gera were sparking off each other as the Hungarian was denied by the keeper when clean through.

Either side of half-time Etuhu failed to be more clinical when a cut-back reached him in space in front of goal and Dahlin dived acrobatically to deny another Zamora effort. Late substitutes Eddie Johnson and David Elm almost fashioned a winner as Fulham ended the final 20 minutes on top.

"They're a smashing bunch of lads and a real pleasure to work with," said a satisfied Ray after the game. He will also return to HQ cheered by news that Andy Johnson has been doing ball work with returning WC stars John Paintsil and Clint Dempsey.
