The slate of fixtures for the 2009 calendar came to an end on Monday at Stamford Bridge for Fulham as the Cottagers dropped a tough 2-1 decision to leaders Chelsea. Despite taking the lead in the 4th minute through Zoltan Gera, the Chelsea attack was relentless and in the space of three second half minutes, Chelsea snatched victory from the jaws of defeat and left Fulham supporters wondering what happened to their 1-0 lead. Despite the loss and the Boxing Day draw with Spurs, it is an understatement to say that 2009 has been a great year for the Cottagers.

I can't lie to you me fellow Fulham supporters, it has been nearly eight hours since our beloved Cottagers hammered defending champions Manchester United 3-0 and I am still struggling to find the words to adequately describe my feelings of jubiliation and excitement regarding not just today's win, but also the win over Basle in the Europa League and the current state of this wonderful club.

Bobby Zamora has been often criticized for his lack of finishing in front of the net during his time at Fulham. While sometimes warranted, Zamora has persevered and not let the criticism get the best of him. On Wednesday, faced with a win or go home match in Switzerland against FC Basel, Zamora delivered on the goods scoring two first half goals en route to a nerve racking 3-2 win for the Cottagers. The win puts Fulham into Friday's draw with 31 other teams for the first round of the knockout phase of the competition.

We are less than one month away from the opening of the transfer window. With Fulham in 8th place in the Premier League and one win away from qualifying for the knockout stage of the Europa League, nobody will argue that it has been a successful campaign thus far for the Cottagers. But with injuries to Andy Johnson, Diomansy Kamara and Danny Murphy throughout the last few months, it has become clear that Fulham needs to find some reinforcements for the second half of the season.
