Fulham's first was forray into Europe started succesfully on Thursday night with a convincing 3-0 drubbing of Lithuanian outfit FC Vetra in the first leg of their third round qualifying match of the Europa League.

The win gives Fulham a big cushion heading into next week's return leg at Craven Cottage where it is expected that the Cottagers will advance in the competition.

The star of the show was Bobby Zamora who scored once and was involved in the other two goals. The Hull City target opened the scoring late in the first half when he fired in from 18 yards out to give the Whites a 1-0 halftime lead.

Zamora was then taken down in the box and captain Danny Murphy slotted home from the spot in the 59th minute. Seol Ki-Hyeon rounded out the scoring in the 85th minute when latched onto a Zamora pass to give the Cottagers the convincing victory.

This is Fulham's first rendezvous in Europe since the 2002 UEFA Cup. Most Fulham supporters did not know what to expect from FC Vetra, a team which finished third in the Lithuanian top flight.

With Fulham still in the midst of preseason a 3-0 win was a fantastic start regardless of the quality of the opponent.

Bobby Zamora had a roller coaster season last campaign but proved to be a key figure in Thursday's match as mentioned above. If he can play with more consistency throughout the current season it will give Roy Hodgson an added weapon up front.

That being said, what are your thoughts on Bobby Zamora? Were you hoping he would go to Hull for the 5 million pounds that the Tigers reportedly offering Fulham? Can he be a key player for the the Cottagers this season?

I say let him go. Get the money to put away or buy someone with more consistency.

Aside from the fact that he only has one foot I think Zamora's consistency problems have more to do with fatigue than anything .. With fresh legs he's definitely a top talent .. Keep him for the 1st half of the season .. then sell if conditions are right ..

Keep Zamora! He finished strong last season and is obviously playing well to start. Fulham was strong defensively last season but lacked scoring - you can't give up one of your best potential weapons.

I like the idea of holding on to him until January unless we can get someone else in. I'd love to see Altidore in at Fulham. He's a big talent and will one day play for a big club. Roy would help him on his way.
