On Tuesday the May 18 it was made clear to the public, that a known terrorist had planned to make an attack on the Danish national team and their fans during the match against the Netherlands.

Needless to say, this comes to a shock to everyone who was looking forward to enjoying a World Cup in the spirit of friendly rivalry.

Fortunately the terrorist has now been arrested, and the Danish players can again focus on their preparations for the World Cup.

Of course this brings up the question of the level of security under the World Cup, remembering the tragedy concerning the Togo national team during this year’s African Nations Cup.

However, the fact that the terrorist was apprehended a month before the World Cup, is reassuring, and indeed the Danish national team has expressed that they are confident their safety is guaranteed is South Africa.

Something that allows all of us fans to focus on the beautiful game, and enjoy what promises to be a great World Cup.

Enough already, about these perceived terrorists in Africa. When the Euro champioship were held in England in 1996, with the IRA carrying out terrorist bombing campaigns all over the UK,we did not hear any of these during that period. There have also been related incidences in Germany with the skin heads(neo nazi organisation),the world cup in Spain, with the separatist group ETA and other terrorist organisations linked to nationalist movement all over Europe. Please, just give Africa this opportunity to showcase what they can offer to the world, without the constant images of war, famine, corruption and disease which is portrayed in mainstream media.Thank you
