At the time of writing Andre Villas-Boas has just handed in his notice to Porto. Whether the treble-winning coach is coming to Chelsea isn't fully clear, however all the signs indicate that the 33-year-old upstart will be the next man at the helm of the poisoned chalice.

I will be honest, I know little of Villas-Boas, just like little was known of Mourinho before he joined (aside from a touchline celebration at Old Trafford and subsequent Champions' League triumph), but his imminent appointment is a promising sign.

Let's hope Mourinho remains in his shadow ©Empics Sport

The fact that Villas-Boas has also previously been a part of the most successful Chelsea team in our history bodes well.

This selection will also surely come off the back of player recommendations (remember the player power at Chelsea is still strong with the spine of Mourinho's team still having much to say) as well as The Special One advising on the addition himself - he does after all still have a relationship with Abramovich.

At this point I am rather indifferent, there is excitement with his appointment because it is the unknown. He isn't proven - yes he was successful in Portugal - as previous appointments have been, but he is highly regarded.

Cuttings from the press state that he isn't The Special One Mark 2, he is a fan of attacking 4-3-3 football and isn't as tempestuous. Although the tempestuous part with Jose was never really a bad thing, his rantings were always a popular aside to all the success for me.

Away from the management role however more exciting murmurings are going on with Chelsea. The players we are being linked with are all in positions where changes are required. We are not only looking to shed years off the management (!!!), but also the squad as a whole.

The midfield is due a refresh, the bids lodged for Modric show that we are not lacking ambition in the transfer market. Ambition alongside knowledge of shortfalls is exactly what we have needed in the past.

For me the most important part is having these players in as early as possible, if rumours are to be believed Chelsea want to complete their management and personnel additions before training restarts in early July.

The main problem we were faced with is wholesale changes happening at a time when they wouldn’t have had an opportunity to gel. Something we will no doubt still encounter, but something that can be overcome relatively quickly - especially with what is, on paper, a simple start to the season.

I could sit and comment on every signing we have been linked with, I won't. But they are exciting nonetheless.

Neymar - exciting young prospect, the next Pele (version 1456). Modric - zippy midfielder with oodles of creativity and Premier League experience, Falcao - Columbian hotshot, I don't know much about him either, but signs are good. Lukaku - the next Drogba, an absolute beast of a 17 year-old, rated at £20 million and a full international.

That list of players is the sort of thing somebody like myself would compile when thinking of how to bolster their Football Manager 2011 team. I'm all about the hot-shot attackers.

But they are also the positions that Chelsea need to reinforce. Drogba is an immense talent and undoubtedly our best ever striker. However, he is now older than our prospective new boss, and there will be an effect on his ability, as well as Anelka.

The future will be built around Torres, and so it should be. A side built around a player like Torres, where he is more of your generic striker style, allows for the team to change in the future but not in such a dramatic fashion. The team now, as I have said previously, is built around the one-of-a-kind striker Drogba.

It would be gutting to leave behind the era that has featured our best seasons, and our best teams. But this is a sure sign that it is happening. It is a great risk from the management, but the team has been in need of an overhaul for a couple of seasons.

If we can build a young team with some of the greatest world talents, then we can realistically compete again, not just next season, but for the next ten seasons.

Out with the old and in with the young.

And Keep The Blue Flag Flying High!

'Whether he is coming to Chelsea isn't fully clear, however signs are pointing that the 33-year-old upstart will be the next man at the helm of the poisoned chalice.'...

Why poisoned chalice? In terms of career longevity re Scolari and Ancelotti; perhaps I could agree with you.

However, in terms of winning trophies and financial gain,I certainly could not!

I'd take some of that 'poisoned chalice' thank you!!!

I absolutely agree. young manager, young players and there we go....Winners....Winners....Winners....winners next season and on.

chelsea needs a strong midfield the board should make sure they get sneider, modric, aguero then falcao, lukaku, pastore is welcome. wiyh these stars champions league is sure.

I respect what Villa-Boas achieved at Porto last season. He promises to be a good coach in the making.I am however not sure if Chelsea is the right club for him now.He needed at least one more season at Porto, not to prove anything but establish himself. He will be sacked by Abramovich before the season ends.

Posted by jude on 06/21/2011

i do agree with you on the fact that its a start of a building process at Chelsea. I believe enjoy time should be granted to Villas-Boas to allow a transition from our dependence on the old guard to enable a transition to new youngsters. Personally i believe a Drogba-Torres partnership just can't work out, mainly because non can accept the role of second fiddle, a choice has to be made and that choice should be Torres. Lampard has outrun his legs, yes he is a legend but its about time, fresh legs and brains (Modric)are badly needed for this transition. Abramovich should by now know that good managers are not easy to come by, Chelsea should start building an institution i want to see Villas-Boas still at Chelsea 15 years from now.

I wish mr boas best of lucky at chelsea

Posted by Chinmay on 06/21/2011

Good blog... It is really sad to part with our star players like Drogba, Lampard, Terry (may be...); but we have to, if we want to progress.
I hate myself for saying this, but look at Man United, look at Mr. 5th official - Alex Fergi. If we had manager like him for past 5-7 years, our spine - Terry, Lampard, Drogba could have now been squad players - mentors to youngsters, shining when needed, happy to be on the bench to promote younger generation. But the player power at Chelsea has gone beyond control (as there is nobody to control the situation, in fact). So now we are in this poor situation that we need to part with these players if we want to successful say 5 years down the line...
let the team building begin. But this time, let the manager build a stable squad rather than a shining team with super-stars.

Posted by Nyambe on 06/21/2011

Be serious. Drogba is till energetic and has the capacity to do alot more than Torres. This is not say Torres is bad. Drogba can lead the team to high heights. All he need is support and competition

Posted by Boone on 06/21/2011

The one disconcerting thing about our transfer association is the lack of fast paced wings in it. I know it is cliche to talk about the wings but we simply don't have them. Malouda, for all his good, notoriously holds up the countering opportunities that we get and we have no right side. I agree with Modric, but I think only one striker should come in and a good effort on someone capable to spreading the opponents out on the right and to provide some pace to support Sturridge and Torres would be ideal. Arda Turan or Adel Taaradt doesn't seem to be a bad link to us, but not strong enough.

Posted by Jerry on 06/21/2011

what a fantastic comment but I think we need to concentrate more on our midfield than on the striker.

Posted by Bako Shadrach on 06/21/2011

What could we (Chelsea) have been without the wisdom of Mr Abramovic? Yes, agreed, sometimes he makes decisions that seem rash and hasty but that's what modern football is about; living nothing to chance! I, for one, knows nothing about the new coach, but I hope he succeeds at Stamford Bridge. The odds are strongly not in his favour considering his age. But if he can win the treble with Porto at such a tender coaching age. Why can't he at Chelsea, considering the world class players we have ( and does on their way)? THUMPS UP ABRAMOVIC. Chelsea 4 Life.

how is this a good blog post? our correspondent doesnt really know much about Boas? about Falcao? What are you blogging about...the NFL???

This is a joke. Put a little effort in researching the blues and their potential prospects...

D problem i have is the ego of senior players are they going to allow him do his work perfectly?...
then we need to offload some

Posted by BEN on 06/21/2011

i think villia boas is the right man for the job
management need to support him with good players and the champion league is ours. good lurk to him

Posted by Gabriel Nwokeji on 06/21/2011

I am very happt to see Villas Boas as the new coach of chelsea. i will like him to buy neymar, gregoey van der wie, modrich. please Drogba should stay and let malouda, anlka, feriera, mikel, bosingwa, hirero leave the club, we need new players in the club.

Posted by mas on 06/21/2011

i agree that the team needs to be built around torres, but like others believe a change in formation is needed. nothing too drastic, maybe a 4-2-3-1 (like he had a liverpool). this would require a creative attacking midfielder (modric, sneijder, or pastore) and an attacking RWB (if bosingwa stays can he regain this role?) to overlap when the current crop of wide players crowd the middle. i love ivanovic but he really only fits when the wide players stay wide.

and i dont agree with letting go of the senior players. leave lampard, terry, and drogba. imitate man u and play them every couple games like giggs and scholes. if villas-boas is the man, he needs to get them to buy in or get out. let them make the choice.

finally time to cut anelka, kalou, and maybe mikel. bring back sturridge and give him a little more time. play with 2 formation depending on personnel (again like man u).
cech
bosingwa,luiz,terry,cole
essien,mceachren
ramires,new CAM,malouda
torres

Posted by Heinzpanache on 06/21/2011

Good move by Chelsea FC, but they have to freshen things up in the team. Push Lampard to his limits psychologically and otherwise. Release Mikel Obi or otherwise, give him a free role, because he is under-utilized and besides Drogba, he is the best passer of the ball and is comfortable with the ball at his feet. Bring in a dependable right wing back and release Bosingwa and Ferreira.Bring in pacy and stylish wingers with style and panache like in the days of Arjen Robben and Damien Duff. Release Anelka, Malouda and a few others, if possible, but keep Daniel Sturridge and play him.

Posted by olise christian on 06/22/2011

Up blues...chelsea for life it is quite insteresting of building young players, Anelka and Malouda sholuld be off-loaded but drogba should not cuz he is the key man that will bring up the young attacks

Posted by Karan on 06/22/2011

I agree with you completely here bub, but with one aberration - a player like Radamel Falcao is not needed for the team. He's no more than one like Drogba, but he's a miniature version, not the carbon copy. Lukaku and Falcao as transfer prospects need to be considered in the same category and on dint of sheer age and physical imposition, Romelu Lukaku is the top choice by me.

Posted by manuelingos on 06/22/2011

i have read with keen observation how some people are asking that drogba, malouda et al. be offloaded grom the team. this would be a suicidal step to take. this will take chelsea to the starters again. iam neither against new players but let the old ones be like scaffolding for the new ones to climb on. no team in this world succeeds without some form of continuity.and im yet to see a better striker than drogba.

Posted by nigel.pglim on 06/22/2011

Chelsea hv the resources to bring in the best managers available, but Abramo is impatient. To built a sucessful team like MU, you need time to build a team for next 5-10yrs. Ask Sir Alex Fergi. He was nearly sacked then. Villas Boas is a damn good manager will have to go, if he cannot bring silverware to stamford bridge during his 2 yrs contract. Ask Mr. Ancelotti!

Posted by teebex on 06/22/2011

Appoiting boas as our manager Ȋ̝̊̅§ a wonderful decision.. We need a young manager to manage the club and take chelsea to another heights.. We need to offload players like malouda, anelka, ferreira, turnbull, bosingwa, and all we need Ȋ̝̊̅§ lukaku,neymar,falcao,sanchez,moutinho,sneidjer.. I can see chelsea lifting so many titles in the nearest future.. Thanks

Posted by Charles on 06/22/2011

I leave it to management to see to it that these young stars are able to arrive at chelsea. At the same time, lets give the like of Sturridge a chance since they are capable. Can we also sell some excess baggage?

Before overhauling, why not let us create a challenge for the new and the old such that the best players would have been identified before champions league commences. The old experience is a threshold competitive challenge for the new, agile and intelligent who can replace them. Up Chelsea!

Posted by Oswald on 06/22/2011

Neither Drogba nor Lampard are older than Andre Villas-boas like you stated in your article. He was born in 1977 while the former duo both in 1978, to set the records straight.

This young man is gifted tactically and technically as he has proven over the years. His philosophy of the game and how his team should play, his man-management skills and all are rather refreshing. He favours a variations of the famous "total football" playing style which Barca has continued to use to make seemingly powerful European teams (need I mention names) look so inept and ordinary. I'd love to see him bring all this to bear during his time at Chelsea.

My gut feeling is we might just have another Pep Guardiola on our hands here if he's given enough time to prove himself. In all I think the future is so bright for Chelsea.

The dawn of a new and very successful era beckons at the bridge.

Posted by abdullahi on 06/22/2011

well i think is good to bring this coach to my club, i believe he transform Chelsea around as ABV is part of the staff room during Jose reing in chelsea.
but Abramovich needs to give the ABV the young man chance to deliver his wish trophies UCL. am always a blue fan no matter the situation.

Posted by Isaac Opoku on 06/22/2011

Mr Boas, a tacticianman u are welcome again 2 stamford bridge.let e man with cash get dis players 4 u,neymar, modric, lukaku n pastore so u can be successful 4 us.

Posted by Chinedu on 06/22/2011

I believe that with this young and new coach, old players lky drogba, anelka, malouda, should be ofloaded and make a new young signing so that ten more season two come wil ours

Posted by mahmud aminu on 06/22/2011

i think mr Boas needs to offload old players by bringing new blood.

Posted by Jon on 06/22/2011

If theree is one area in which there should be a new pllayer it should be the wing. You look at teams such as man u, with nani, Valencia and such- they are still going after Sanchez and Ashley young. You compare that with Chelsea where we have malouda on the left and a second striker on the right... I don't know why Alexis Sanchez has not been made our number one transfer target, that is the kind of creativity we need. And do we really need someone like falcao? We already have torres, drogba, sturridge. Yes there may be a case for lukaku and I believe anelka and kalou should go, but if is going to play 433, no real need

Posted by richiefame on 06/22/2011

i know villas boas will be excellent at chelsea but if he need wants to succeed, he should off load old players and bring in news ones- they likes of falcao, aguero or pastore

Posted by mtarika on 06/22/2011

i believe chelsea can do better in the next premire league season if they build strong offensive mildfieldrs like luka, essien and remires.

Posted by Ajah on 06/22/2011

The new young coach should focus in our midfield. No good midfield no good football and the strikers cannot perform.

Posted by santos on 06/22/2011

parting ways with Ancelotti is a mistake. the man worked miracles the past 2 years with a midfield lacking any kind of creativity.
Ancelotti deserves much more credit. there's no way chelsea will buy it's way to the champions league trophy. but a creative midfielder will help.

Posted by abass on 06/22/2011

Posted by JD on 06/22/2011

Abramovich has more dollars then cents as they say. He is willing to make changes on an unknown coach with little (but some successful) experience. Clearly the players have been the problem and Mr Abramovich himself (he was behind the sacking of the coach, bring in Torres) - If he left Ancelotti (a very proven, very successful manager) to "run" the team then he would have success. The lack of success despite the money falls clearly at the Russian's feet. Deny it all you like. Ancelotti will go to another team next year and come back, beat Chelsea and win the champions league just like Mourinho... Just need to think about it for a minute.

Posted by Archie Quenneh on 06/22/2011

We need to offload Malouda, anelka, lampard, the mean person is Malouda. He is the problem on that team, he is selfish.

Posted by Orobiyi Jubril on 06/22/2011

Neymar Modric Lukaku Boas...i think It Is Done!

Posted by kek Cruz on 06/22/2011

In my opinion, sell off anelka, malouda, zhikov, ferreira, bosingwa, then keep lampard, drogba, terry to make up the spine of the team. Secondly, buy lukaku, van der wei, either modric, sneijder, pastore or moutinho will be good for our midfield but i think we can get a hold of modric if we up our bid. A goalkeeper is also needed to back up cech, allowing us sell of ross turnbull. Giving hilario an extention was actually hillarious, lol.

Once all this modalities are put in place, then chelsea can start piling up silverwares.

A message for roman: Plz allow the is brilliant manager to be chelsea's coach for atleast 5yrs and see how we can take over europe.

Chelsea 4 life !!!

Posted by kachi on 06/22/2011

Hiring a new and young coach like villa is a good thing and a good sign for good things to come. But i think still having players like drogba and anelka is not good for our young talents like sturidge and torres. Blues for life. ALL HAIL THE CHAMPIONS.

Posted by Bankole Joseph on 06/22/2011

I just wanna wish Villas Boas all the best of luck in his career as a chelsea manager. Because I know he's the right candidate for the job.

This is a great day for chelsea and there is alot more to come and we will win many things for many years. i agree with alot of the suggestions for transfer targets, but one position that is being left out is a great right back>> that being said i would like at least 4 signings at chelsea from this group of players.. Alexis sanchez, modric, lukaku, aguero, sergio ramous, maicon, neymar, hulk, pastore, jesus navas, mountino, ganaso, bale, sneijder, van der weil.. also i want sturidge and josh to start getting more opportunity, perhaps kakuta and van anholt also.. never the less, exspect great things to continue..i think chelsea is now a club that will be great long after roman is gone, with a new generation of young footballers loving this club much like players of old have dreamt about man u barca and real ect.. very proud to be a chelsea supporter!!!

Posted by Wibi on 06/22/2011

Offload old players, give more room for youngster. Keep Lampard, Terry, Drogba for another season. Sign creative midfielder and winger, a young playmaker! Modric, Niko Kranjar, VdV... Go Blues!

Posted by Adelubi on 06/22/2011

This is a great news. Our old players like drogba, anelka, lampard & malouda, should be replace by mcharan, modric, lukaku, motinho & falcao.

Boas has arrived, but was Manager our problem? Ancelloti was a good Maneger, but at a time we made him loose confidence, we no longer believed in him. Obviously, some players are no longer needed at chelsea, but I don't support total overhauling of the team. look at the gray areas, make one or two signings, offload some players, blend the old and experience players like Drogba, lampard, etc with the younger ones. Then give the Manager the free hand and confidence to operate and not making him understand that he will be fired without silverwares in the shortest time possible. Yes football is all about trophies, but it also reqiures time to get that steady winning team. My question has always been, did Ancelloti did too badly at chelsea?

I think Villas Boas will succeed in chelsea if given the moral support especially from the older players. I wish him Gudluck.

And ya Terry i feel is still the best defender in the premier league!

Posted by Abhijeet on 06/22/2011

We should play Mikel on the right side as when ivanovic plays as RB we are pretty exposed. And the way he can move the ball and his physical fitness are just too good to be ignored.

Posted by mas on 06/22/2011

i dont get why people are saying we need falcao, lukaku, neymar, and every other available striker. what the hell good is a team with 5 or 6 world class strikers and no one to distrubute to them? if villas-boas really wants to raid his old club, then he should go after moutinho and maybe fernando to replace mikel. falcao and hulk are great but they wouldnt fit in with the current squad.

Posted by laud on 06/22/2011

I agree with you very much my fans. But all wwhat i can say is that we should offload malouda, anlka, feriera, mikel, bosingwa, hirero.drogba and kalou out of the team and bring players like Luka, pastore and a good winger like Lukaku.for the coach to be a good coach at chelsea he will need to sack old players like lampard because he is a old player and from the look of things some of the players i have mention are older than the coach and i dont agree for some of them to stay in the club.period

From what I read about AVB, he's a master tactician and a master psychologist. That's very good news. He should have the perfect solution for whom to keep and whom to offload. His strength was to analyze each opponent and formulate a tactic taylor made to defeat him. That was Ancelottis weakness; he never made wholesale adjustments to take on opponents. If he can control the millionaire players, he should be spectacularly successful. LET'S HOPE!!!

Hello friend, I agree things at Chelsea FC are looking brighter and brighter with this hire. But really the only thing left for the club is Champions League hardware.. Sure, our club want to retain the English crown and contend in the FA cup. But Chelsea have been a powerhouse of a club for most of my young lifetime as a football follower. They are top class, and I feel this hire is insuring that while they are building for the future of the club, they also want to win that prestigious Champions League right now. I'm not sure what you meant by 'generic stiker' referring to Torres. I've always been a fan of his game as well as class. I have defended him over and over this past season. He is still world class and I believe he's getting back to the Torres of old. I wasnt sure what you meant by generic. I love Drogba as well, and I think he is a player who would play on the left or right if it meant a CL run. I think he's of the age to understand this role. But do you think Anelka stays?

I agree, i have been sayING this same thing for last 3 seasons. the thing is we always call for young blood, but by the start of the next season we have not bought anyone young. i hope this season is different. and i hope they give this manager atleast 2yrs to give us a team.

KEEP THE BLUE FLAG FLYING HIGH

great blog and comments... in my humble opinion, i will say Chelsea FC should keep Drogba at least a season also keep lampard and Terry how many English do you see running around with their wealth of experience, very few i guess! lay off anelka, kalou, ferrira, then bring young centre backs, good and natural wingers.Let there be a blend of young, mid and old the team.
Then maybe to a very reasonable level, let the coach and the football director work hand-in-hand. Don't just buy and dump players for coaches to use.
Wish you best of luck.

It is no doubt the blues have gotten a new coach full of talents, wisdom and achievements, also the blues are making advance to lure inn many young talented prayers to work with villaas, but the fact still remains, will abramovich give villaas the chance to do what he knows how to do best or will he be sacked tomorrow just like other

Mikel is the best midfielder we have in chelsea, but highly underrated by most people who tend 2 forget he was the one who anchored the midfield 2010 when essein was injured. Some who was a 10 but was turned into a 4 and blended in......in all that he all stuck to the coach's instruction and get criticised by fans for that.

Posted by Ijas on 06/24/2011

What Chelsea really need is a number 10(maybe two) and two wingers and also an attacking rwb
no more strikers please(Drogba,Torres,Sturridge and kalou is more than enough)
offload malouda,anelka and ferreira
and obviously bring through josh mceachran
that wil do it for sure

Obviously a fantastic decision...but i believe Andr villas-Boas should be giving the free hand to work. certinly looks like a longterm prospect, i believe his achievement should not be based on this season. for it's a transition and re-building process (...bricks re not layed at once to construct a house, it takes process, first the foundation) we possible will be seeing a lot of changes in the team, which i believe should be welcomed. Kudos to vertrans like Drogba & Lampad, they have paied thier due respectively, but i believe and i think they equally understand its high time for them to paveway for younger players
with more creativity. i believe it would equally be beautiful if we see less of Malouda & Anelka and the offloading of Bosingwa, Ferraira,Zykov with the inclusion of Lukalu, Luka Modric, Neymar,Radamel Falcao, most importantly bale, sneijder. not forgetting the development of our own jose McEcrean, Patrick Vaan Aanolt,

If he cant win atleast something significant next season, we will be seeing another new manager. This has been the case in Roman's Era.

So nothing to be excited about.

Posted by Rohith on 06/25/2011

Please don't release Malouda. He is necessary, and he is our best winger now. I fell we must stay 4 3 3 because that is how we can utilize torres best.

Cech
Ivanovic Luiz Terry Cole

Modric Essien (Essien plays center) Lampard (or Sneider if we are lucky)

Torres (he can wing or play closer to...) Drogba Malouda

Falcao is Torres's sub

Lukaku for Drogba

McEcrean or Sturrige for Malouda.

Ramires for any other midfielder

We should sign Dodo before Man U do, and maybe look for some defenders

anelka, mikel, bosingwa, zhirkov, and so may go... But we need some depth. I think we can win CL because we can beat Barca as long as the refs are okay...

No comments on chelsea and Financial Fair Play rules.. 100M on players last year and 13M on manager this year and plenty more expected in the coming months. I hope RA knows what he is doing.. otherwise one fine morning before 2014 all fans are notified that CFC are no more eligible to play in CL and RA has sold the club to someone really really ambitious like BLACKBURN owners and the very next year we will see CFC in Championship and the most gloriously lavishing period of its history is all but gone!!!

Well, you pple you really thnk d same way as i do. We ave players bt r underrated. The only boost we need mayb only neymar en modric. Wen sturridge comes to replace anelka, tht team is capable of anythng. Let luiz adapt. Essien, ramires, lampard, modric: enough mid. Torres, neymar/drogba, sturridge. Wow lets go! Another barca coming up!!

Posted by ethan on 06/25/2011

well i think the signing of boas will eb a good thing to come ...and how offloading certain player i think we should be reason and think about these before taking any decision here ...ac millian is an example of what am talking about ....inazaghi is 40 yrs old and still palying ambrosini is 35yrs old and they are fit ,,nesta ..and seedof all these men are way off 30 or more ...how old is drogba lampard that will al asking them to be offload ....experince win champions league the combination of young and old won it for braca[xavi puyol are way off 30s also] so why we clamouring for thes e players to be offloaded ..all w e need is blewnd them togther just like the days of mou...let get them together and let them learnt the routine of premiership from the old guard

chelseafc,i wish u well in d upcomin season, but dnt mak mistak by offloadin ur best drogba.that cud b penny wise pound foolish

Posted by GEORGE on 06/26/2011

Blues needed to be re-enforced by two creative midfielders yes, modric or pastore will be nice but Drogba should be there.

Posted by pateh jobe on 06/26/2011

i do agree with our new coach all i need is for him to succed in all the games although is hard but yet still...we can nmake it n keep our flag high the real blues for real we are the best

Posted by ali on 06/27/2011

AVB, hope you can bring many cups in our hand.

Please find the backup GK, and offload anelka, malouda, bosingwa, ferreira, turnbull.

For me aguero much better than neymar.

All glory be to God almighty and also to our brother abraham 4 giving us andrei villas boas. It's now time 4 our coach to start bringing in the players he need and selling those ones he can't work with. Wish coach blissful staying in my club. We are chelsea..... Don't let us down.

Posted by Yemmy on 06/30/2011

Chelsea needs to be courageous enough to be as ruthless with the senior players as they have been with coaches in the past. Terry, Lampard, Drogba, Anelka and Malouda have all slowed down due to age. It is time they side-stepped for younger more vibrant players.

Posted by Alum chukwuemeka newton on 07/01/2011

My people we need to offload the aged players especially Anelka and Alex and bring in youger bloods that can continue frm where they stopped.I really appreciate what everybody have done so far in thi club.Moreso Boas should be supported by all for him to succeed.Yes I agree with him CL is not won by the best but the luckiest team.Up Chelseaally appreciate what everybody have done so far in thi club.Moreso Boas should be supported by all for him to succeed.Yes I agree with him CL is not won by the best but the luckiest team.Up Chelsea

Posted by francis ikechukwu egolum on 07/04/2011

pls first Anelka should go to mls or to wigan and another good keeper to check cech on crosses .he disappionts us in crosses. Then right full back is a problem due ivanovic is good but performs better in the centre. Thanks

Posted by mwanika sam on 07/05/2011

i think Andre boas villas is doing the right thing to keep the likes of drogba, malouda and lampard on the team. at the same time, am very happy with the decision of releasing anelka. i wish my new coach the best of luck!!!

please chelsea manegement buy me good creative midfilder two of them and striker and oneshap winger so that all chelsea fans will be very very happy this time. you guys shul know that man u is geting sronger this time so we need to buy players vry fast

Posted by Gme on 07/08/2011

then who'll be replace ivanovic/bosingwa?modric?aguero?sneijder?falcao...so funny when you ask to get rid of all fullback n replace with all attack minded player..fuhh, then my chelsea will collapse just like that...IMO bring in modric/pastore, and 2 genuine winger on both flanks..Lampard malouda, anelka still got something to give, as a rotation player sharing their experience to young players..young and old combination then u can compete in all competition well..

Posted by luis ramirez on 07/12/2011

i think chelsea only needs 3 or 4 new players.i think they should get modric/snider,lukaku/aguero, and pastore.and then get rid of malouda, anelka, turnbul, and bosingwa.after all of that is said and done go out and get a young and talented right back. come on chelsea!

Okay, since it appears Drogba will be a Blue for 1 more year at least, why not pair him and Torres together and see what happens. They've had months now to get familiar. But V-B has yet to pair them together. Listen, they are both world class at what they do. Sure, Torres is lacking confidence, and Drogba is aging. But come on. The problem Chelsea is going to have is not these 2 strikers. The problem they will have is finding midfielders who can keep pos of the ball. The MFs at Chelsea worry too much with scoring and shooting on goal. Torres has thrived off precision passes and making wonder runs behind the back 4. Pair these 2 lads together(11+9), and either tell Lampard if he doesnt start playing like a true CM then he will sit every match or buy a playmaker that can and is willing to make those precision passes needed for these world class strikers. The back 4 is solid. The front is too. But your front is only as good as your Middle. And Chelsea's Middle will not win the CL this way

Posted by Brad on 08/08/2011

Okay, so I've been reading and hearing from football experts I know that Sneijder is for sale and willing to leave for the right price. I say AVB transition progress would be A+ if he made a move on the Dutchman. He could change the whole style of play with an attacking midfielder like Sneijder. Pay him whatever it takes and get him in there with Drogba and Torres. Right now, I dont see how Chelsea will win a CL trophy this year. THey've signed excellent talent for the future, but Sneijder makes you better now. Torres and Drogba would thrive on his playmaking ability. Esp Torres in being the quality of striker that is capable of making world class runs on time. He needs someone to give him these opportunities and open it up. Not too mention sneidjer allows Chelsea to play a proper 4-3-3 since they are so keen on that formation. I think Lampard and Sneijder could work. I've been critical of Frank this past season, but I think with WS he could play the same style and not hurt the team.
