Tonight see's us facing a do-or-die match up against The Special One's Inter Milan team, so how on earth do we overturn the 2-1 deficit from our first leg?

It is clear to see from the first leg those three long weeks ago that Jose has his Inter team lined up very similarly to the Chelsea team he took to back-to-back Premier League titles, so it is essential to exploit the very few weaknesses we possessed back in the day

THE SPECIAL ONE RETURNS. ©GETTY IMAGES

Cambiasso is the key to their team. He is their Makelele. If we can bypass the balding Argentinian we can expose their midfield and their defence in one fell swoop. I think that tonight we will see him stay as defensive as possible, in the first leg he had a few forays into the attack - one seeing him score a pretty spectacular goal.

Lucio in the defence is very much like our own John Terry. He was so bullish in the first leg he became very near unplayable. Exploiting his weaknesses would not be too dissimilar to catching John Terry out. So we need Drogba to be on fire, more specifically in the air. If Lucio is anything like JT, which it appears he is, he will struggle against taller opponents who are stronger aerially.

Watch for the counter. Yes, it sounds obvious, but Inter are only going to play one way tonight and that will be to soak up all offensive pressure and mount their own attacks on the counter. Eto'o is perfect for this role - the defence will need to ensure that he doesn't get the time and space to run at us.

Remember we are actually the better team. I felt we were a bit too cautious in the first leg, we had a massive amount of possession for an away team in the Champions' League and didn't capitalise. Too many of our players went missing at important times, it is essential that tonight we need to realise we are better than Inter and need not to allow the occasion overcome us.

I have mentioned on a couple of posts the need for the right Chelsea to turn up to the game, tonight we need the dominant Chelsea of the past to take centre stage. The form of Drogba has a massive part to play and for me there is no doubt that we will be dependent on him in order to progress.

Oh, and if the Florent Malouda of the weekend decides to make an appearance what an even greater bonus that would be. He was unplayable on Saturday and was clearly enjoying his time back on the wing after some very good deputising at left back.

Unfortunately a stomach bug has ruled me out of attending tonight, so I'll have to be cheering on from the comfort of my sofa! Come on Chels, KTBFFH!

I think Chelsea are certainly the better team with Essien, Cole, and Cech fully fit. But with Zhirkov, Mikel, and Turnbull I think the teams are pretty evenly matched. I think the Bridge will be the difference. Chelsea don't have to score early. They'll be content with just keeping Inter off the board for the first 45. I think Chelsea take this one 2-0. I see it playing out similarly to Inter's last 16 match with United at Old Trafford last season. In the end Chelsea grind out the result.

CHELSEA WILL WIN INTER NO MATTER WHAT!! DONT LET CHELSEA DOWN OR FANS!! I KNOW THE RESULT IS A VICTORY LETS DO IT!!

Posted by STEVIE K on 03/16/2010

Well I hope that isn't an omen that as you have the sh*ts that we aren't full of sh*t too tonight but instead have the RUN of the game and don't end up sick as parrots!

BTW - A little birdie tells me it isn't your sofa however comfortable it is.

Note that I agree with one of your previous repliers (?) about the headline, Boring Boring Chelsea - keep it positive, you sound like two guys I have sat next to for 13 + years at the Bridge, they are full of criticism before the line up is even read out.

CHELSEA WILL WIN INTER. NO MATTER WHAT!! DONT LET CHELSEA DOWN OR FANS!! I KNOW THE RESULT IS A VICTORY FOR US. MOURINHO IS A STUBBORN PERSON BUT DROGBA AND MIKEL ARE THE ONLY PERSON THAT COULD WIN THE MATCH WITH THEE SUPPORT OF OTHER TEAM MATES.THANKS BLUES FOR LIFE

i also hope sincerely that the blues are going to be victorious after the last whistle, though is gonna be tough but with god by our side nothing is impossible,go go go chelsea, the blues all way

Chelsea playing home is a big relief for me. it gonna be obvious that Chelsea will win Inter rain or shine. Keep it up Drogba

I think its time we got real and realized how poor our side really is and how stupid our coach is. Anelka is becoming a real problem now, and he keeps playing, if anyone can post against this view, i wud love to hear it. Ballack and Mikel keep playing together and its not working, we need a creative midfielder, which we shouldve bought but some brave old fool decided not to buy and arent we reaping the results of that. Here's a list of players to get rid of, Lampard(time to retire), Ballack, Anelka, Mikel, Carvalho and Fereira. If anyone agrees with me then you really understand what football is about.

I hope Tommy Smithy eats humble pie. He was adamant that Chelsea were going to emerge victors over Inter. Next humbling come end of EPL Arsenal will be champions whether Tommy likes it or not.

thats is why chelsea cant win the champions league becoz of so conservative on their football....dun think just keep it n wait until rite time to attack is a good way...yesterday we already see how inter play n kept chelsea away...everytime chelsea got on the ball without any attacking just waiting so long n try to find a good time tats why the time tickling n it gets more n more difficult when the time is so near the end of the match...chelsea should just be brave n attack try to make it a little bit open n when inter counter attacking break down u can counter attacking them again..as u see chelsea play like an italian style football...too slow...tats why when they play like that inter will be very good as it suited their playing stlye...english football so success in recent years in champions league becoz of their fast play...it will make ur opponent of guard sometimes...chelsea should change a bit if not they will not win a champions league at all....

i would be chelsea' friend before the match and for ninety minutes i wouldn't be chelsea's friend and after the final whistle i would be chelsea's friend again- mourinho.
friends, i would only say that mourinho is better abramovich the millionaire can't bet that can he? but frankly it's time we understand that being an english footballer is not a yardstick for being unsubstitutable, Lampard wasn't in the game but ancelloti can't help issues. He lack the ability to read the game and make reasonable substitution, however i was beaten by my coach.up mourinho, please come back as soon as possible.

Well I bet that made you feel a whole lot better .... NOT ! Love him or Love him ( there are no other options .... ) Jose is still the Special One .... and Roman.... we all make mistakes... this is one you can quite comfortably amend ... But what is really important is.... Whose Sofa is it anyway ?

Sofa SoBad

Chelsea Charlie -

1/ 3 questions in one. Did Roman Avich Avich really make a mistake at the time?Did that many Chelsea fans enjoy the type of game we were playing at the end of Joses' rein ? ( It was exciting though under Hiddink wasn't it?)

2/ More importantly, I think Chelsea Charlie has a clue in that the kitchen table he ate off 'comfortably' for a while was once also the property of the unknown sofa owner.

3/ And being a good caring human being that I am has the correspondents bug gone?

Let us all hope the urge to win the prem title is back on track, we prefer that to Champs league anyway.

The main problem in our side is that most of our important players' age is on the wrong side of 30. With experience being the only advantage, there are so many disadvantages to pay with:1.injuries take time to heal,2.the body can't push further in demanding situations, and most importantly 3.the mind fails to think of an alternative mode of attack when the regular plan fails. When will we start to see our younger players? As it is, we don't win the CL or the Premier League, why not give them a try?Lampard,Drogba,Terry and Anelka are now failing more than they are delivering. And Ballack should have retired long ago if he were in any other team. Why doesn't our coach show the guts to chop and change when he sees that it is not working?Does he think keeping the "big guns" happy will ensure his position secure even if the trophies don't come? A massive overhaul of the squad is what we need.I don't care if some of our so-called stars leave in the next transfer window.

Without Essien the midfield have so much weaknesses. Balack, Mikel, Lampard are all great but they dont have the speed and quickness that Essien has, so it's gonna be a bad Chelsea for now till they get to understand each other on the midfield........

I can still not believe with what happen on Tuesday. To me it was a shock something that I thought it will not happen to us just like the way it happened to Real Madrid. All the same the harm has already been caused lets focus on the EPL and FA. We need new players who can help us to get what we want.

Posted by rick on 03/21/2010

well, posting this after our draw v blackburn, i can confidently say that chelsea are the new mediocre. if not for some great wins at the beginning of the season, we'd be a mid table team. yes, i know our defense is depleted, essien is out and again we are using our 3rd string goalie, but this happens every year. while every club has to deal with injuries, it seems chelsea are riddled with this problem every year. i dont know what it is in our water at the bridge that makes our guys so frail, but once again here we are looking at the title from the side lines. this is utterly ridiculous.

Posted by ELFO on 03/22/2010

WE LOSE TO BLACKBURN IS A BIG BLOW!! IF WE NOT GOING TO BOUNCE BACK TO WINNING WAY IF NOT WE HAVE NO HOPE TO WIN THE THE EPL!! NOW MAN U IS ON TOP OF US WITH 1 POINT AND THAT SUPPOSE TO BE OUR POSITION, IS MAN U WHO JUST STEAL OUR POSITON THAT IS JUST THE STUPIDEST THING HAPPEN FOR CHELSEA!! I AM CHELSEA FAN FEELING LIKE TALKING TO ANCELOTTI WHAT HAS HE DONE TO THE TEAM?? PLEASE PUT BACK OUR PLACE TO THE TOP OF THE TABLE!!! ANCELOTTI PLEASE DONT MAKE THING FROM BAD TO WORSE!!! I THINK IS TIME 4 P.CECH 2 GO
