One point ahead in the league, with a game in hand, and facing our old hero on Wednesday night in the form of Inter's Jose Mourinho. These are exciting times.
This is what football is all about, it's in the script as they so often say.
Mourinho has impeccable form at home in all competitions (hasn't lost one in eight years in either the league or the domestic cup) and Inter's form in Italy isn't great, with only one win in nine on Italian soil.

But as I said: this is in the script. Hopefully one of those great scripts that's written in our favour!
The former adversaries meeting once again, Ancelotti vs Mourinho. Jose vs Chelsea.
Typing this is enough to get me in the right mood for the match, what an awesome tie - and one we have all been looking forward to since it was announced in late December.
I am more than sure that if the fans are geed up this much, then the players must be savouring the battle on their hands at the immense arena of the San Siro. It's sure to be tight at the back, after all what Italian team doesn't play that way?
But maybe Inter will be resting on their laurels a little. If Jose is to be listened to he knows us inside out, but we are very much a different beast to the team he was in charge of three years ago.
We are much more unpredictable. No longer are we the machine that takes the lead and sits back, now we are a volatile monster.
One that when unleashed can be devastating, however, one that can be equally devastating to itself in the form of clumsiness at the back and anonymity up front (Everton away, Wigan away, away in general).
Tonight though, I have a feeling that we are there to do a job and one we are more than capable of. However if that job is to take an early lead and (excuse the Jose-ism) "park the bus" I would be more than satisfied.
Come on Chels!

Mourinho is a lot of talk... he can tool around in Serie A all he wants, but in Europe his team is no match for Chelsea.

how about some team news? i'm worried because of all the injuries. any time a team is missing ashley cole, michael essien, jose bosingwa, yuri zhirkov, and possibly alex and carvalho, it's not good. also, ferriera is not available. belletti?

The lineups and timing of this game may be a far cry from the World Football Challenge that started off the preseason but least I forgot that win was Chelsea's on neutral ground. This Chelsea team is destined for the treble and the "Special One" may know this team but that is also his weakness as Chelsea knows HIM! Watch for J.T. to be in superb form and Chelsea's attacking midfield to bruise the defense of Inter...COME ON YOU BLUES!!!

Mouriho is a man he value his home mathes much but i see Mouriho loosing in stamford bridge in the return leg (2nd leg). I think chelsea did well, thanks for that away goal. Kudos to wonderful & promissing Mikel (John Obi) for an incredible work in the midfield. Up Chelsea! Blue for live

Yea we lost in the 1st leg, but its not a bad result, though we should have won that much as we played better, but not a bad result an we should actually win 4-2. My only concern is the back 4, they were messy, Balotelli was killing us. Good game however, Inter will be collapsing in the bridge.

in the spirit of good football and sincerity,i dont see inter loosing with a two goal margin at the bridge.the first mistake was letting inter win that match.i see inter sealing up the defence and putting a couple of italian mafia up front.say eto and balloteli.
inter will not mind taking 4 yellow cards haven come this close to the next round.
well time will tell

frank you said the right thing.mourinho is a master tactician.and you jermain you call that played well cesar had just 5 saves to make all match.since when chelsea started playing like arsenal uselessly knockin the ball around.thats the style we played against arsenal and we won,so the coach should have a cure for the disease he created.making one change in that match is wrong and we got attacking players on the bench and a goal down.i see y he led by 3 goal in champion league final and ends up loosing.in 2004 he had a 4-1 lead at home and loses 4-0 away

I hav2say this and I don care if anyone agrees with me or not.Firstly I think Terry is really distracted with this whole scandal he has gotten himself into and he really needs to be given a break or some time on the bench. He is playing way below average and am tired of his stupid mistakes costing us points. The chelsea fans have been behind him long enough and its time he puts this whole nonsense behind him and do what he is paid to do on the field "DEFEND"!Also I know chelsea hates to admit it but I don't think any other coach has been as successful as the special one.The truth be told,no other coach has had that ability of getting us results when we most need them and being able to change a match around.if there was 1tin the special one was gr8 at it was in being able to mak substitutions that would change the face of the game.he was always able to grind out results 4us even if it was just a goal lead but at the end of the day,I think winning is more and he understood that very well.!

I hate to open old wounds but everytime I watch this disgrace performances by chelsea(which is becoming too often for comfort this days) I cant help but be reminded that it was completely stupid to have fired Jose and I don't think chelsea has recovered from it yet. This year is our best chance of winning a title again and we are just pissing it down the drain. As a chelsea supporter,I am totally hurt and disappointed by today's performance
