Chelsea

As many as 17 of Chelsea's extraordinary squad will be at the World Cup Finals next year, without counting potential fringe players such as Michael Mancienne and Matic.

It's probably as many as any team will provide, and just goes to show the strength in depth (and I suppose experience) at the Blues at the moment. The fact that we also provide FIVE international captains shows that it takes a certain type of player to be a success at Stamford Bridge.

With England already qualified, John Terry, Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and Joe Cole should have already booked their flights and hotel for next summer, whilst Michael Mancienne could also board the plane with them after some stellar perfomances for the U21s.

Michael Essien's Ghana eased through qualification for the second World Cup running, and will be joined by the rest of our African contingent from the Ivory Coast. Didier Drogba captains the side that also features our youthful Salomon Kalou up front. John Obi Mikel will also be there after a startling comeback by Nigeria, who needed to win at all costs and hope Tunisia lost. A goal at the very death of the match saw the Super Eagles through to South Africa.

Michael Ballack and Branko Ivanovic have made it through for their Germany and Serbia sides, who could also take defender Matic to the Finals.

Thats our ten currently qualified players rounded up, but they should be joined by many more after the conclusion of the playoffs. Both France (Anelka and Malouda) and Portugal (Bosingwa, Deco, Ferreira and Carvalho) hold leads in their matches, to be played out on Wednesday night.

On top of that, Russia hold the upper hand in their match against Slovenia, which means Zhirkov should be joining the party.

Manchester United will be providing just 7 internationals (should France and Portugal qualify), which just goes to show how brilliant our squad is! All we need to work out now is who to support next summer?!

For once I can cheer Torres and Silva going mental up ahead with Fabregas, Alonso, Xavi and Iniesta providing support in the midfield. Puyol, Ramos, Albiol and Pique complete the defence with Casillas in goal. Definitely the strongest line up. Hard to cheer for any of em indivisually, being a die hard chelsea fan.
But, magic show anyone? Comin summer 2010.

Go ESPANYOL!

Posted by Aman on 11/17/2009

A little far fetched but if we could land Ribery, Aguero and Sergio Ramos for a cool 150 million in January, FIFA might as well cancel the world cup and hand it to Chelsea. Torres would be a dream here but crybaby Benitez has already ruled that out.

I hope Robinho realises what he misses at Man City.

Some say they have a red blood, some say they are the gunners and while some in spain claim to be the white angel or popularly call the "Galaticos".But no matter what they all say,the sky will definetly remain BLUE.CHELSEA for life.

Posted by AB on 11/20/2009

IM A TRUE BLUE BUT MY ADVICE IS FOR THE MANAGEMENT TO BE CIRCUMSPECT BRINGING IN PLAYERS SO THAT THE SQUAD WILL NOT BE OVERLOADED WITH STARS.I THINK AGUERO IS A BETTER PROSPECT THAN VILLA AND RIBERY INTERMS OF AGE AND AGRESSION.CARLETO IS A FANTASTIC COACH NO DOUBT ABOUT THAT BUT HE NEED TO SMART IN HIS SIGNINGS.UP BLUES!

Posted by philip ohonba on 11/20/2009

No mater how many internation stars listed that will not be around due to the fact of 2010 W/C. Chelsea does not and will no have any reason to be treting or tenced,i have believe for the other Boys left in team all the Management need to do is to get 2 or 3 qaulity players ie(AGUERO, Pato ), by Jan TRUST me we will not just get premire lg but also Champions Lg.

Ancelotti we love u, we pray for u,the Team,And the Management too.this is ChelseaFc time to get or Collect it all.

these espn soccernet writers are the worst ever. manchester united only sending 7 players??? we will probly send 7 through england alone.... rooney, ferdinand, foster, hargreaves, brown, carrick and maybe owen or neville. not to mention evra, nani, valencia, anderson, hopefully both da silva twins, vidic, ji sung park, and maybe the likes of obertan. united will send a lot more then 7. espn soccer not needs new writers or at least people who know what they are writing about.

Chelsea has a super squad, i hope they get the premier ship this year. Real Madrid for the Champions league and spanish premier. If Dragba does not get leading goal scorer i'll jump off a cliff.

After seeing Chelsea beating Wolves 4-0, make me wonder do we really need big star player at Chelsea. The youngster that Chelsea have could be better than Ribbery,Aguero,Pato etc. Please give them the chance to show that Chelsea youth development program is working for Chelsea FC

right now i dont think chelsea should buy alot of players. havent u guys seen Gael Kakuta play, this kid is a magician. we have alot of players, i think we only should by aguero or a good young player like giovanni dos santos. african cup of nations cant affect us have u guys seen the fixtures?

Posted by klawole toheeb on 11/23/2009

i just hope dis wont be afuck up for we (chelsea) cos many of our players are goin for worldcup and nations cup in which we gona loose 17players. dis aint esay at all, cos no matter wat d player absence will still b felt nd i hpe God see us thru. but Ancelotti knows wat he is doin cos he made a statement that ''we are goin to be using some of our reserve players nd subt so dat they wont loose spirit of futball wen others go for international match''

Chelsea forever!
Carlos is doing a good job... hopes he win something for us this year. But i am a Mourinho fan forever. He is so much more colourful than any other managers i have seen in Chelsea history. haha

The Five international captains are:
John Terry, Michael Ballack, Didier Drogba, Michael Essien, and Petr Cech (even though he isn't going to the WC)

Posted by Hopeson on 11/24/2009

To have many of our players quallified to the world cup is a sign showinging our class as gaint in england but to produce five reigning captains to the world cup displays our character to win all this season

Posted by Hopeson on 11/24/2009

Am really happy with the current pace our players is using now l think that we are unstopable.seing the likes of geal kakuta, matic and the other young chelsea talent impressive outing against wolves, it really gave me the courage that we are not going to miss alot during the africa nations cup

Chelsea can win all or most of all this season. But we need replace the ageing squad. Looking cv kakuta, borini, manciene, santos and others, i think what we need is a playmaker who can link the midfield to the attack. Deco isn't himself neither is joe cole up to it 4 now. Though i will support cole 4 the role. Fire on chelsea and keep us fan happy.

chelsea can send all the international players they want to the world cup, but they still wont win the Epl title. they are too weak when it comes to the big games, Uthey dont know how to finsh off a season strong. they always start the season strong but Drogba pussy's up and gets hurt and the team falls apart..

Hi~Go Chelsea Go...I think what Chelsea need is more young talent that can be expose to the world. I do believe player like Gael Kakuta can make impact within two or three years to come. I do agree Chelsea should consider to buy one midfield playmaker to link the midfield and the striker.Chelsea dont need a expensive player but talented player...
