I don't know - I go away on holiday and manage to miss all the big stories on Chelsea! God knows how we'll are from the ban on transfers, but just look at how well we've started - almost makes you remember the last time we started the season unbeaten...!

Firstly, praise has to go to Carlo ancelotti, whose favoured diamond formation has transformed a midfield that appeared less than full-of-life last season into a genuine attacking threat. When even Florent Malouda is notching in the goals then we must be doing something right. In truth, the new formation gives us a balance we didn't have for the last few seasons . In fairness to Mourinho, he was always changing the shape of the team - sometimes even mid-game - to suit the opposition, but Scolari and Grant didn't really take this philospohy to heart.

With Essien anchoring the midfield we have someone who is capable of getting the rest of the team out-of-jail should they make a mistake. Mikel is hard-working, and Ancelotti has even got Ballack running around and chasing the ball like a man possessed. Lampard is the figure-head of the diamond, and has excelled (as he always has done) at supporting the strikers and arriving late into the box.

With a perfect start to the season, its all looking rosy for the boys in blue. Admittedly we used some luck to grab a couple of last-minute goals, but that is exactly what champions Manchester United havebeen doing for the last few seasons - their never-say-die attitude finally seems to have infected the Chelsea team, and we are loving it in Championship-winning form.

And so to the transfer embargo.

The scary thing is that whilst United have come out and said they are completely innocent, have always looked at the contracts in detail, etc, we're hearing some funny noises from Chelsea's Peter Kenyon. I personally think that there is an issue here, and Chelsea may have beena bit over-eager to sign up the best young players. Someone should have checked the contractual issues around Kakuta, and stayed well clear.

I think everyone I've spoken to is in agreement that on appeal Fifa / Uefa will knock the ban down to one transfer window (January 2010) which will obviously have less of an impact on us than having a complete ban on transfers next summer would - we probably wouldn't buy anyone anyway.

Whilst its admirable to sign up al the best young players from all over the wrold, am I alone in wishing that they concentrated on home-grown players instead? This means having an English core to the team, someone the fans identify with, who actually knows about Chelsea.

The other problem with getting the best foreign talent is that invariably they harbour dreams of playing abroad - usually for the big Spanish or Italian clubs - which means that a move away from Chelsea is inevitable - just look at the Ronaldo situation! We could sign the best 10 youngsters from France, Italy and Spain, but by teh time they reach theri peak then their contracts are being re-drawn, and they can go to the club of 'their dreams'.

Overall, a positive start to the season - lets keep it going against Porto!

I think chelsea will do more this season, because of the new diamond formation Acelloti is using. But am appealing to the player not to slow their effort in all matches, that is late winning goal. The final word is TEAM CHELSEA YES WE CAN

Its been a few exciting weeks for us, although our main man Andy seemed to desert us. Andy, please plan your holidays for a time when its not too exciting on the football arena. I am so focussed in maintaining our unbeaten run that I think (anxious is the word) its time we brought on the Manchester duo, so we can sit pretty for the second round of the league. We have to avenge the Man U and Liverpool losses of last season, put the City Boys on hold and target the cup on cruise mode next year. The ban? Naaaah, we'll ride that one out, it will motivate us, solidify us, even protect our players from "raiders", we shall be stable, no worries. Mourinho can't have Deco or Carvalho, Hughs can't take TJ, Heaven, even Kakuta may graduate into the first team to give our rivals a run for their monies. We actually have a very good second string and youth team just waiting to bubble and exhale. No, guys, Wenger did it with unknowns, Anceloti has more depth than we know. Talk about that soon Andy!

Actually, Andy, wouldn't it be a great service if we also got more in-depth info about our young players bating their breathe to join the fist team. Who is out there that will rival the Rooneys and Ramseys, players in the Walcott mode? The new rule on 8 homegrown players below the age of 21, is a point to strategise on. I know from Chelsea TV that we have exciting players. Talk about this aspect of Chelsea, Andy, if only to assuage our supporters world-wide that we are indeed, on track.

My take on our performances so far is, great, Ancelotti, great, but we have to tighten up from this strange knack of being a goal down till we snatch victory ultimately. Shut-down the concessions, Petr...bring back the invincibility of the Mourinho era. We must not allow any team to entertain ideas that they can up-set us. Not this time.

Score versus Porto? We win 3-1, Droba 12th minute, Deco 71st, Essien 90th. Again, we concede first, via penalty or corner or free-kick. See, I am special too.

We are on cause. I believe we can fo it today that we are taking on Porto. Infact, I haven't seen the team that is going to stop us now. GO FOR MORE WINS. THE BLUES!!!

i think we are going places this season, plus and without the ban,we have a good team, good reserve and to crown it all a fantastic manager, but we all hope the ban is lifted or reduced because when injuries come then we will definitely need he transfer market.

I was pretty shock to hear the sudden exit of Peter.I personally feel there is more to it than we have been made to believe.Whatever it is, let me use this opportunity to him thank so much for what he brought to the club and I wish him well in post Chelsea.I still demand some explanations from the Chelsea hierarchy with regards to his exit.Thanks.

The blues no doubt are doing wonderfully well for now but my fear is complecense. We are yet to test this diamond formation with a very strong opposition. I just hope the match against liverpool will provide such atmophere for us to show the world how precious our diamond is. I know chelsea will always excel.

About
Andy Thornton Andy Thornton - I've been a Chelsea fan all my life, and I'm now lucky enough to watch the boys play every week at Stamford Bridge. I love nothing more than talking about Chelsea and the Blue Revolution (just ask my mates in the pub) which makes me a perfect ESPN Correspondent. Feel free to disagree with my views (I am often very hard on my own team but only because I know we can do so much better!), and I'll try and get back to any comments. Come on Chelsea!
