Its just under two days until kick off, and whilst we may have had a taste of football through the Engladn team's travails and the Confederations Cup, nothing quite beats watching Chelsea! (Even if it is Hull!) What are you most looking forward too?
I personally can't wait for that 12:45 kick off to come - finally we'll be able to see how Ancelotti has managed to transform a team that were largely written off at the start of last season into Championship winners.
With Ronaldo, Tevez, Alonso, Adebayor and Toure all moving on and not being replaced, its time for us to step up a gear and really put the pressure on. Whilst we might not have had the marquee signing we were all hoping for (though there is still time... :) ) we have been strengthened in attack by the return of Pizarro and Shevchenko, who Ancelotti at least knows how to deploy, having had the best years from the Ukranian at AC.
How long will it be before John Terry gets to show the love he professes for the club and kiss his badge after scoring? How long will it take for Essien and Lampard to become the best midfield partnership in the Prem? How many goals will the rejuvenated Anelka-Drogba strike-force smash home? Only time will tell, but I can't wait to find out!

Basically, my aim for next season is to watch Sheva play more games if he stays at Chelsea. Shevchenko needs to prove that he is capable of playing in the premier league. This is his second chance-but if it still doesn't work out, then I'm afraid I will have to say farewell to my favourite player of all time. In Ancelotti, we trust! Amyway any idea if Kalou is moving on? He is a great lad.

You're right Andy...I cant wait to see what role Sheva will have for the Blues. Wonder if he can approach the 10 goal mark or even if he'll have an impact on the Premier League campaign...And I cant wait to see how Sturridge preforms over an entire season (even if it's not quite during the League) surrounded by the class of players at Chelsea

In fact,we thank God that new season is here at last.i stongly believe this will be the best season for chelsea, because the two greatest rivals has been wounded by the departure of some of there great player, imean TEVEZ and RONALDO from MAN U.and ZABI ALONSO from LIVERPOOL.I still believe we can still handle MAN. CITY both home and away.what can bring joy to the heart of we(The CHELSEA FANS)IS FOR ANCILOTTI and his players to give us CHAMPIONS CUP. I LOVE CHELSEA.UP BLUES.

Very dissappointed in ESPN for not airing this match on TV. One of the biggest clubs on opening day and no one in the US can even watch it. That is BS !!! Hope the Blues have a complete rout of the tigers--7-1 to the Chels! KTBFFH

I think the diamond style of the new manager is not a bad idea. Anelka and Drogba are finally clicking together even though i need more power and effort from Anelka. Balack might be the one to miss out, come as a sub becuase Essien and Mikel Obi, Lampard and the new russian guy or malouda will be in the midfield. Malouda has to step up in his game. Our back four is always good no matter who plays ivonick, Terry, Bonsigwa,Ashley, cavahou or Alex are all good to play at our back four. We need GOD OF SOCCER THIS TIME AROUND TO SEE US THROUGH IN ALL COMPETITION AND WIN ALL, CHAMPION LEAGUE, PREMIERSHIP, FA AND CARLING CUP. WE DESERVE IT. IF not referee it is always some else. WE NEED GOOD LUCK THIS TIME AROUND.

Essien missing almost the entire season cost us the league last year (as well as Big Phil's job). Without him, this team becomes fairly ordinary. If #5 is healthy (and Drogba actually gives a @#$!, which, if preseason is any indication, he does) then this team will be tough for anyone to beat. Ancelotti, like Hiddink before him, realizes what he's gotten himself into. 3 years on, this is still Mourinho's team. If he tries to stray too far from that tactical model, then he ends up like Scolari. But I think Ancelotti is smarter than that, and has the track record, with similarly aged Milan teams, to prove it. It won't be the beautiful, attacking football Abramovich wants, but we'll win more often than not. It won't be pretty, but the siverware we hoist at the end of the season should be enough to warm even the coldest Russian hearts. GO BLUES!

Sadly we are going back to the dark ages so long as ESPN cover the Premier League. Their whole approach shows that they are cashing in on the richest sport in the World by showing games from the richest league in the World without having any clue how real fans like to watch games. It looks like they are trying to appeal to Baseball fans coming out of a coma with their 'approach' The one thing that Rupert Murdoch does understand and that is his audience. The only way ESPN have any chance of getting credibility first then a fanbase second is to give Soccer it's own identity and stop trying to hide it in between Golf and MLB, it will never work that way. Even FSC looks third rate next to Setanta who captured the culture of the game. Unfortunately ESPN will make the EPL like the MLS so as not to lose their core audience from the NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL whose viewers tend to 'hate' soccer.
There is some 'suit' out there sitting on a hefty bank balance because of this deal

I think Ballack will be in top form this season and will smash in the goals that made him one of the best goal scoring midfeilders in his earlier clubs. Chelsea need to play him as long he is fit and i am sure they will win everything.

Really guys? Shevchenko? The old man is washed up! If Drogba has 5 gears well then Shevo is stuck in 2nd and perhapse needs his gearbox/transmition looked at. The man is slow and at times looks like he wants nothing to do with the ball. I am greatful for what he did for the Blues but his career he IS DONE! 10 goals? How can you be true blues if you dont even realize he will not get more than 20 minutes every two weeks. Shevo is past, Drogba and Sturridge are the present. Dont even get me started on lazy, "i cant finish a play" Anelka!
Anyway, go Blues! This is our year for EPL. No one can beat us on an average day. Champions League may not be so simple though.
09/10 EPL campaign should be the one to watch!

A nice start to a new season with the DROG showing why chelsea fans are hit with trepidation anytime there is talk of his transfer. Will we win the premiership this season I think this our best chance what with the depletion to the ranks of our rivals but we have to keep a close eye on Manchester City I think to underate them would be to our detriment. To all chelsea fans like they say in my neck of the woods nothing do us in this fellowship of the premiership this season DALIP2BLUE signing out I BLEED BLUE

About
Andy Thornton - I've been a Chelsea fan all my life, and I'm now lucky enough to watch the boys play every week at Stamford Bridge. I love nothing more than talking about Chelsea and the Blue Revolution (just ask my mates in the pub) which makes me a perfect ESPN Correspondent. Feel free to disagree with my views (I am often very hard on my own team but only because I know we can do so much better!), and I'll try and get back to any comments. Come on Chelsea!
