Chelsea

Ricardo Kaka has just moved from AC Milan to Real Madrid for a fee of 56 million pounds, shattering the previous record and making him the most expensive footballer in the history of the game.

In the past, when the record has been broken there has been uproar - when Zidane moved across to Real for £47m the press were out in force saying that it was bad for the game, the world had gone crazy, there was no way one player was worth that much, etc, etc. The clubs were practically being told off for turning the beautiful game obscene.

Kaka has just moved for a massive fee, and yet there is no such public outcry. Why? The £56m is obviously obscene, and there is no way that a player can be worth that much - not even a former World Player of the Year!

The truth is that no-one in the press expects it to stop here. They are saving their condemnation for later on in the season, and don't want to waste it on a such a nice chap as Kaka is reported to be.

With Manchester City willing to pay any price for good players (Nigel de Jong £16m in January when he had a £4m get-out clause in the summer, £100m offered for Kaka in January too), Roman Abramovich suddenly interested in financing another charge at greatness, and Florentino Perez splashing money around like water, the record will be broken again.

It will more than likely be Cristiano Ronaldo who will be feeling the brunt of the media scorn, and he'll be chastised for bringing the game into disrepute, and being arrogant enough to think he is actually worth that much cash. The press are lying in wait for now.

Are there any winners out of all this?

when there is so much money, people go mad, do what others cannot do, pull diferent type of stunts, in fact, make people open their mouth and forgeting to close them. with this others feel oppressed. all bodies governing football throughout the world should find solution to this before it get out of hands

Kaka is a very exciting player and we seldom see players of his class very often. His world record signing was well deserved.Kudos to you Kaka we all love you and we`re looking forward to you having an illoustrous career in madrid.

I dont see what you guys are saying, in American Football, rookie players get 75M dollars without even proving themselves. Obviously Kaka has proven himself on a club and international level. What would you say to Abromovich bringing in Pato and a few young midfielders and a new CB to replace Alex or Cavalho

I have been a Chelsea fan all my entire life and i dream of seeing 'The Blues' clinching moore trophies, moreso, Champions league!! The Roman army will dorminate the league but the new coach should come with forward players and build the defence

Posted by Max on 06/10/2009

Wrong. Zidane was 76 million Euros where Kaka is only 65 million.

for me chelsea is the best club in the world but we just need to put some little problems in order.for me i think we should get new fast strikers next season and get some good bench players. by doing this i think the sky is our limit next sason.

The truth is that Perez is destroying the beautiful game. Now it is not the brilliance of a coach or the artistry and dilligience of players that win trophy, but the size of their vault. i hope it will stop at club football and not extend to national teams where rich nations will buy all the big established players to win the world cup

Posted by Angelbert on 06/11/2009

We (the Blues) should be able to have 7 solid reserves who could come in at anytime and do as much as those on the pitch could do or even better, that is the idea of substituting....Look at Man U., Anderson leaves for Scholes, Park for Berbatov...come on, you can't think otherwise...The keep coming with outstanding qualities to contribute.

Posted by mitchel on 06/13/2009

chelsea is d best club,no doubt about that but we need sharp and fast strikers.i have got two people in mind but i dont know if mr roman abrahamovich would see dis, sergio kun aguero or david villa. These would be suitable for our squad and style of play.please we need this changes as soon as possible.thanks and i wish my new coach success

I' m chelsea fan since abromovich take over and become more fanatic when mourinho be the couch and slow down when avram grant be the couch. For me to make game beautiful and interesting, Chelsea should have another midfield player who play groung past and just one or two touch and other midfield player who can deliver nicely plus good striker.Don,t let carvalho left the team and get villa, valencia and the player like mascherano strong quick abd brave for defencive midfield.

Posted by Choppa on 06/15/2009

All I want is that chelsea needs players in striking role which are smart and fast like Pato,Aguero and also smart wingers to solidate the wing attacking role. I wish Chelsea the very best of luck in the coming hi
season and also Carlo a happy season. BLUES 4 life

kaka wasn't worth all the money!but its really good bussiness for two great clubs and an outstanding gentleman...kaka

It is a pity that the world has gone crazy with money, not only in the football section, but in everything else, a pity that young players prefer to ruin their careers in Real Madrid because of money. good luck Ronaldo and Kaka, the going will tell the stand

Posted by kodri on 06/17/2009

I,think kaka should stayed in san siro because that's club had rose his name in the world.in fact, the transfer to bearnabou is one wasted money.it's because the economy recently slammed down.the fee around 60m pound can be used to aid african who starved.

Posted by herald on 06/17/2009

we need Aiden Mcgeady!!must buy player...!!!!!!!!and do please bring back Arjen Robben....carvalho...do not leave your fans...

Posted by fan on 06/17/2009

hi... i think chelsea should definitely get a few young legs... or perhaps call a few from the younger squad.. players who can really run into opponent's defenders and create some problems at the back. last time, players like duff and robben did so well during the mourinho's era... so chelsea should definitely bring a few palyers of this quality for the coming season. hope the new manager will have similar thought and plan for chelsea.

This is certainly a new dimension to the game of football. Whoever is worth any amount should be paid. Afterall, a labourer deservers his wages.
Ride on Kaka.

I've Been A Chelsea Fan Since I Was Born, And I Think That With Chelsea Having A New And Experienced Coach They Could Win The Champions League Cup And The Barclay's Cup Next Year.
Oh, And I Know That: John Terry, Michael Ballack, Petr Cech, And Frank Lampard Can Make That Happen.!!

Posted by marclus on 06/20/2009

doint let bosingwa go.he is by far beta than johnson.he can give passess and fast to retreat.john can pass bt poor to retreat.it would amount to blunder to sell him to bayern.

Posted by Godfrey T.C on 06/21/2009

I think kaka is good and nice young player...he worth whatever that come to him...afterall is all games we are into.

For my club blues...they all well played players but things must be done to tighting the back to help my man John Terry.

Posted by Austine Usifo on 06/21/2009

kaka is an outstanding player and i think he is worth the money spent on him. As a chelsea fan i would say we need players like him to assist the main striker. Anelka should be sold and a better striker be brougth into the team, the new manager sholud also work on the wingers as for now we dont v a dependable winger who can work ball into the 18 box.
Up the BLUES this season will be d campions league forus

such a good talent.

If I have to choose who's the new player(s) for Chelsea's forward will be, it's definitely between Sergio Aguero or Alexandre Pato.

Young and energetic. A good investment as well.

Posted by Ali baba on 06/27/2009

Kaka worth the amount which he is being tagged with. If you have followed the confederation cup closely, you will not only see Kaka as good player but as an experienced team player who do not require to be at his peak to give in his best

Posted by jammy numbere on 07/03/2009

kaka is a great player, so is ronaldo and some other great players who can perform solo, when the chips are down, but i still feel the trasfer price slashes are just outrageous, players can drop their form anytime and what do people say... like shevchenco????? i remain chelsea for life

Posted by rinzo on 07/06/2009

i'm a true blue prayin 4 champion league glory,we can achieve that with Anceloti if we can get the right players to beef up our impressive squad......David Villa and Pato would be perfect but we need to keep players like carvalho.....deco can go.

ofcourse money is everything so far the money is there for who want to spend it lavishly. it is in the interest of those player for them to be smilling to the BANK. All what they want is money. What C. Ronaldo want?what Robinho want before he joined Man City? it's all about money. That's all.Anyway, no matter what they are or what they do, all i know is that Chelsea will put there best to upload all the trophies especially the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE. Up Chelsea, Up Blues.

my dear chelsea, please we need a top striker like ibracadabra or luis fabiano.what are you people doing

Posted by HarryAndTheHendersons on 07/22/2009

Yes, of course the figures are inflated. The figures go up every year, like the price of car. Perez is just doing what Madrid always have done-spend to get the best players. The is true in the '50's when Franco took money out of the public coffers to give Madrid whoever they wanted. It was true in the 60's as well and in the 70's Liverpool (scum) had a number of record transfers which at the time seemed astronomical. All this talk about ruining the beautiful game - the big teams have always splashed the cash. What has changed is now there are about fifteen teams able to make a huge purchase instead of just three or four.

i am a true blue fan in nigeria kaka is a fantastic player i don't think that money is too big for a player like kaka. as for terry you are going No where. blue for life. kindly create blue fan here in nigeria because nigerians are really craze about the chelseafc.

Posted by Justin on 07/22/2009

For goodness sake, Abramovich just splash your darn 100m on Ribery please. Poor Cole's been injured for goodness knows how long and we really need a quality winger! And get a few strikers man! Aguero and Pato are the suggestions, but i suggest NOT leaving Shevchenko out! He's THE MAN! Give him another go for crying out loud! He's not useless!

Posted by anuodo oludare waters(Nigeria) on 07/23/2009

every club is buying players, even arsenal has bought at least one player chelsea hasa not bought any,you are only nailing your own coffin because rather than man- city eliminating us Arsenal fron the top 4 according to cole,it is chelsea that will go down. i pray they wont be relegated!

Posted by Don on 07/27/2009

This is one team which showed money can buy success. If only that can be said about their coaches. Ancelotti is good, but i feel he cant do much with an ageing squad.
I would have loved to see Del Bosque as the manager of Chelsea. He was magnificent for Real Madrid. Ancelotti just got one League medal to his name at Milan remember. Del Bosque would have been the perfect man to lead Chelsea to Champions League triump and the league title again. SO PLEASE ROMAN, IF YOUR READING THIS OR ANY OF YOUR REPRESENTATIVES ARE READING THIS, get DEL BOSQUE in as soon as you sack Ancelotti in a few months.

...kaka is an extraordinary footballer, worth every penny, its quite a shame that chelsea could'nt employ his services & there is'nt anything obscene about spending money on such valuable players- FOOTBALL IS ENTERTAINMENT & MONEY MAKES GREAT ENTERTAINMENT!!!...THE BLUES ROCK.
