It was a fitting farewell to a man who has won the hearts and minds of thousands and millions of Chelsea fans across the globe. The win was conclusive in the fact that Guus Hiddink has managed to rebuild a team from the ashes, and given us a new sense of confidence in our players and their abilities. If only he could stay on...
A standing ovation from the crowd and a guard of honour from the players - and he completely deserved all of it. Admittedly it didn't have the fairytale Rome ending that we all wanted so badly, but Guus has proved himself more-than-worthy for the full-time position of manager at Chelsea football club.
Having taken over from Felipe Scolari, on whom so many hopes were pinned, Hiddink had the difficult task of re-uniting the dressing room, and calming some egos, even before he started to think about where he was going to find the much-needed creative spark on the field! Drogba was brought in from the cold, and has been an inspirational and controvertial figure ever since.
Whilst Scolari had been enticed across to give us some latin flair, and failed, Hiddink was brought in to give us a solid platform for next year, and qualification for the Champions League at a time when it looked like we might be in danger of losing out to Aston Villa for the fouth spot.
Hiddink brought a work-ethic back into the team, provided us with a target-man upfront, and set about getting results. At first it wasn't particularly pretty, but over the last few months Malouda and Drogba have given us a few match-winning moments that will be remembered for some time. Malouda especially has started to show the form that made him a £14m signing a couple of years ago.
With the team safely qualified for the Champions League group stages and Chelsea having the chance to add a trophy, this season has been something of a success. Who knows what might have happened if we had been on teh end of some FAIR refereeing decisions in the matches against Barcelona? Who knows what might have happened if we'd cut Scolari loose earlier in the season, or had Hiddink from the start?
What we do need to know, and fast, is who is going to take over from Guus. There is a foundation to work on now, and hopefully the new boss will be up to the challenegs set by Manchester United.

Guus is, in my opinion, the best manager that has been in Chelsea. I even like him more than Mourinho. Anyway, managerial hope is not lost; I heard that Guus will most likely return if Russia fail to qualify for the World Cup.

Guus has done a beautiful job, but I think Mourinho remains the best.
I wish Guus will stay and make Chelsea a better side, but if he leaves, life goes on. The Blues will remain BLUE for ever.
Chelsea for live....

Father Guss,
You have done very well in the very few months your stayed with CHELSEA.You are the best tactician this season, for you to have held Thiery, Messi, Etoo all of whom have scored over 60 goals this season for 180 minutes without scring a goal, then you are the best.
I wish EUFA had not influnced the OVREBO of this world chelsea would have booked a place in ROME.
Anyway, as you have stood to your world to leave the lord shall be with you anywhere you go to. Thanks a million times.
As for this great team called CHELSEA.
The SPECIAL ONE,SHOULD BE BROUGHT BACK TO COME AND FIGHT SIR ALEX AND THE ENGLISH FA ONCE AGAIN. LONG LIVE JOSE MOURINHO LONG LIVE CHELSEA.

I have nothing against Hiddink, and he did a nice job and all, but I can't help but laugh at the hypocrisy of many fans when thinking back to last year. Grant did an even better job than Hiddink and instead of getting the praise he deserved, he was made out by everyone to be a complete and utter moron.

His job as a Chelsea coach is not a flabbergasting one.Guis has this never die attitude. He invigorated the players and gotthe best out of them. Even the players like Malouda, Ivanowich started scoring goals. But i will say Mourinho still is the best. He will remain non-chalane when his team is winning and you will find different shades suddenly, when his team starts loosing, that's why he is a 'special one'.

There was a point i knew we were out of contention for major championship and we really needed a miracle to turn things around. The miracle came in the name of Guus and he has made us proud and prooved that the blues are the best and shall remain so. Thanks Guus and all the best hoping to see you in south africa soon.

GUUS HIDDINK
This is the the only coach with the maturity and tenancity to handle Chelsea, and stand up to the experience and profile of coaches like Sir Alex Fergusson. He has the revived the fortunes of the club and the careers of its players. He has established Chelsea as one of the strongest teams in Europe. He has proved beyond doubt that the bench has such an important input into winning matches just as the individual capabilities of the team members. He is one of the greastest coaches ever to set foot at Stamford Bridge. He will be remembered by chelsea Fans all over the world for a long time to come.
Finally I believe a genius is in a better position to identify other members of his class. As such Guus is eminently positioned to identify other coaches who could step in to his big shoes. It will be discomforting to let the fortunes of the club to falter because of the wrong change of baton of leadership at the club.
Again the door of the clud should always be open to Guus.

Guus Hiddink has brought Chelseas pride back. Even as a Man U fan, I believe Guus brought the challenge Fergie actually needed. I wish he would have stayed to make the league more competitive since Fergie is proving almost unbeatable.

it is sad for chelsea to see guus leave the club when he has restored the team to higher heights and only to the level and spirit that jose mourinho had inspired. today we could be marching to Rome to revenge that painful penalty shoot out against manchester last year coach like guus can only be stopped by surrogate referres like that suspect norwegian who robbed chelsea out right victory on that night against barcelona.how long will chelsea suffer such injustice in the name of the game. soccer fans worldwide are watching to see what UEAF and FIFA will do to the referee.
To Guus we say hats off and warm and brace yourselve for a posssible return to CHELSEA and good luck to Russia's world cup qualifications.

What a spectacular performance from Guus Hiddink. He has managed to bring Chelsea to the next level. He would have been a real threat to Sir Alex Ferguson team and any other top European club in many years to come shd he stays. He is expert in his areas and know best from his current squad. He is also a master in building a new dynamic team of Chelsea.
It is sad that you have to leave the club.
Lastly just wanna wish u Good Luck in whatever you are doing and wherever you go.

While at Chelsea, Guus has proved himself to be nothing short of a World class manager. The way he transformed our team, their spirit and season has been spectacular to witness and highly motivational as a Chelsea fan.
I sincerely thank you for your unforgettable contribution and wish you the best for the future. Maybe one day you will return and can lead Chelsea on to win the Champions League for the injustice that was done to us this year.

Dear "A.M."
I am sure Avram Grant did not do a better job than Guus.Firstly,he got most of the draws by Chelsea. He lost in the semi-final honestly? straight, unlike Hiddink, who actually mastered a beautiful passing Chelsea. They also lost to Barcelona only because of OVREBO.Thanks,Guus for all your help!

sir, guus hidink i really respect you achievements in bringing back the lost glory and pride of been a chelsea fan which mr scolari thrown away by his inabilities i question his tactics and qualifications as a world winner, ilove Grant despited that he was not favoured by fans and journlist but he did a every good job while in chelsea as manager atleast making history by taken the club to uefa finals in first time he should ve won but anelka and john terry dash our chances of becoming champions.couple with the injustice we suffered from referee OVREBO recently against barca cos he was influenced by top .EF official who does'nt want a repeat of what happened last year finals but life must goes on. However,i pay tribute to the special one, jose Mourinho he is a lad the main man of chelsea who can only stop Alex fergie dormiance in english espn and take the lead back to stamford bridge.blues 4ever up blues.

Guus is unaguably the best coach of the year in my view. After Scolari had dragged our honorable clubs'name to the mud, A super-coach (Guus Hiddink) professionally rebuilt it with all our image so dented recovered. waooooo... waoooo..what a great coach. If he were unmarried, I would have given my sister to him as a token of appreciation. u 2 much... baba.
Up Chelsea!
