Chelsea

It's now become the biggest game of our season - The FA Cup Final. Yes it won't feel like its been the most successful season ever, but at least we keep Wenger and Benitez out of the trophy tables for another year (how many years is that Arsenal fans?!) The biggest game of the season needs our strongest team (even though I reckon our kids could beat Everton to be honest!) - who gets your vote?

I'm looking to play a standard 4-4-2, with the two strikers hopefully being a bit more of a handful than when they play up front on their own in a 4-5-1 or 4-3-3.

Obviously Cech goes in nets. In front of him I would normally have Terry and Carvalho, but it doesn't look like he'll be back in time for the game, leaving it wide open for Alex. On the left (even though I'm not a massive fan of him) is Ashley Cole, whilst Ivanovic gets the nod on the right - not least because he gives us some height at set pieces.

Moving slightly forwards, Essien and Lampard win the ball in the centre of the park - both have played some scintillating football so far this season, and we have really missed them when they've been out.

Without the injured Joe Cole, our attacking wing-play has to come from
Florent Malouda down the left. Down the right, een though we haven't used him much this season, I'm putting in Scotty Sinclair. No-one is happier running at defenders than he is, and he has the pace and ball control necessary to be a real threat to Everton's back-line. If we were playing Barcelona I'd obviously sub in an extra ball-winner, but against Everton we have to take the attack to them, which is why we have two wingers rather than one.

I wish Di Santo had proven himself across the season to compete a bit more for the starting spots, as it looks like we have no option but to play with Drogba and Anelka.

So thats:

Cech

Ivanovic
Alex
Terry
Ashley Cole

Sinclair
Lampard
Essien
Malouda

Anelka
Drogba

with Hilario, Mancienne, Bosingwa, Mikel, Ballack, Kalou and Di Santo on the bench.

What do you think? World beaters?

Firstly I wouldn't underestimate Everton. They had the better chances to score in the match at Stamford Bridge. And if truth be spoken Chelsea escaped with a point.Lack of firepower upfront with injuries to their main strikers is what is hurting them this season.Moyes is a great strategist and one who can get the best out of his players.
However if they continue to show the flair and dominance they are showing in the last few matches in the league Chelsea will be the favourites.More than anything else Chelsea needs to gain the trophy as a fitting farewell tribute to Guus.
For the team I don't see Sinclair achieving much in such an important game when he scarcely featured the whole season.Ballack/Obi Mikel should come in his place. Also Bosingwa will continue to hold his place because of his forays down the right. All in all no surprizes in the Chelsea line-up though I must admit I am tired of seeing the same players over and over again.

Posted by Taminator on 05/20/2009

I agree that Everton is not a team to be underestimated. Even without their regular strikers they have a good match winner in Tim Cahill.

I believe we should go for a 4-3-3 format, here's my pick:

Cech (obviously)
Terry and Alex
Bosingwa and Cole at full back positions as they both provide good attacking width.

Obi Mikel at holding midfield position, allowing Lampard and Essien to attack.

The front 3 I would go with the regular 3 who have proven to be a great combination in the past few months: Malouda, Drogba and Anelka.

This will allow for more flexibility in attacking numbers and has worked well in the past few weeks.

Would be nice to see Anelka score at Sunderland to win the Golden Boot Award instead of Cristiano "Fugly" Ronaldo win it.

i always believed the chelsea line up liable to cause extensive damage should be similar to the 1-3 victory at watford how i think it should be:

----------------------Cech

---Bosingwa-------Alex-----Terry--------A.Cole

----------------------Essien

----Stoch--------------------------------Malouda

----------------------Lampard

-----------------Anelka--------Drogba

in this formation we got anelka a perfect comeback hat-trick in what was it 20 minutes.

i guess the reason the couldnt play like this is they need to satisfy the big names but Guus wont be afraid to put the big-guys on the bench.

the bench would be: Hilario, Ivanovic, Macienne, Kalou, Ballack, Mikel, Di Santo

Posted by thayour on 05/20/2009

mikel obi shoulb be pair with essien, while drogba with di santos, which should give the young lad a chance to prove him self and malouda on the left wing while kaluo on the right wing terry, alex for sure and ivanovic plus cech.ballack is playing shadows for now please put in on bench

Let us know when you get a single champions league trophy. Or five. Money and plastic flags can't build history. See you again next year.

Posted by Bruce Wayne on 05/20/2009

I think I will (half-heartedly) root for Chelski in this one game (never thought I'd be saying that ever!) purely because of the moaning and whingeing that Moyes did prior to the United game in the semis. I normally like Moyes and Everton and would have supported them, certainly against Chelski. But because of Moyes (who plummeted in my estimation and I dont think he should now EVER be considered for the job at OT when Fergie finally leaves), I will go for Chelsea to win (although I could give a tuppeny-damn either way!)

Posted by Joey on 05/20/2009

I hope Everton stuffs you rent boys. Shit club no history!

Posted by Ben Edewaard on 05/20/2009

id like to see mancienne at right back. he has been great in the games hes played. i doubt that sinclair will start. has he even played at all in a game this year? i would love to see stoch because he has also been great but i think it will be kalou. and if chelsea go with the 4-3-3 expect drogs up top with anelka and malouda on the wings and ballack, essien, and lampard in the middle.

"even though I reckon our kids could beat Everton to be honest!"

Funny you say that when Everton had a number of their first team players rested (and even more injured) during the last match AT the bridge and yet you were lucky to escape with a draw. You didn't beat Everton at Goodison Park this season either. By the way, great prediction for the Barca match as well!!! You're fantastic at predicting results aren't you, you arrogant tosser.

Posted by cory Golden on 05/20/2009

sinclair cant come in to the FA cup final after not playing in any big games or to my memory any games all year..be real...anyone but him...mikel obi.ballack. even beletti.

Posted by Jason Bauer on 05/20/2009

I also think that Everton will bring the house, especially given that hardware has been scarce for them in the recent past ... the hope of something for the mantle after years of rebuilding is a great motivator, and one that we should take caution to consider.

That said, I agree that we need to go at them. Rather than the untested Sinclair, I would insert Kalou. While streaky this year, he has the ball control and the quickness to take it to the back line of Everton. In addition, I would like to see Obi Mikel with Essien in the middle and let Lamps drive the left side. For my money, OM provides a larger target in the middle, more capability to win balls, and a stronger base on the defensive side of things.

As for the defense, I think the strongest line is Terry, Alex, Cole and Bosingwa.

Without discrediting any sort of silverware, but could it be in some way, you are self-comforting on yet another disappointing season?

Posted by Wal on 05/20/2009

I agree everton are only really dangerous with set plays and Ivanovic would be the one to mark Cahill. Goalie, left back and centre backs no brainers as Carvalho is not match fit (and is probably off to italy soon).
I would play Sinclair in the league game but Everton will try to bully the midfield and I do not think Malouda will help out too much so Ballack will come in and Drogba anelka up front.

Yep i am tired of seeing the same players but they are a winning team, and without the incompetant Scolari we would be champions this term.

Next boss, please not Ancelotti, bring in Rijkaard or steal Hodgeson from up the road.

Posted by Bobby on 05/21/2009

You cant buy class Andy and that is something your team will never have. Your team is a major reason of the negative side of football. I dont see how you could possibly be proud to support a team like chelsea. Guess you are not a real fan of football and would prefer to win medals no matter what the consequence. Real un-educated article also, how did you even get them to post an article of yours? Most people dont come out and insult other teams but i guess you have done this article the Chelsea way also. No Class.

Posted by Bryan on 05/21/2009

You must be a gee up hey. Everton came to the bridge only a few weeks ago and drew with you guys, and were probably unfortunate not to win. Underestimate them at your peril it won't be a walk in the park as you think it might.
I do hope Everton win now, just so you have no trouble counting the trophies which Chelsea have won this year. Which would equal none.

Posted by cason on 05/21/2009

Everton won't be an easy side to beat as they are playing 9 men behind the ball when it comes to defense. They are very disciplined in that manner. The only way to beat them is to use pace in counter attack. Although they are not strong in attacking, you must admit they beat Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Man U (even though Man U was kind of giving it away but when it comes to penalty shoot-out, chances are 50-50.) I am sure Guus will send out the strongest squad, and Moyes will send out his depleted but hungry squad out. It should be a good game. Looking forward to it.

World beaters...not quite!

Especially not with this line up. You say you need to take the game to Everton, so why would you put in Ivanovic? True, he is does well on set pieces, and as a Liverpool fan I can attest to his ability, but those are his ONLY two goals. Bosingwa would bring much more to the table scampering up and down the right flank and attacking the Everton back line. He has really established himself as an Alves or Maicon type player who can reliably put in balls. Ivanovic simply cannot.

As for Sinclair...really? I don't watch every single Chelsea game, but Kalou would surely be the better option. Hiddink surely agrees, as noted by Sinclair's two appearances, both as substitutes.

Everton will put up a great fight in this game. Saha is back, and looking dangerous, and will make up for Jo being cup tied. I like their heart to take them through, and make you eat your, quite frankly, terrible words.

Posted by bones on 05/21/2009

Mate, Everton arent that bad, they might not have the players per position and then might have injuries, but to be fair with them, they keeop winning with their kids out on the field..

To underestimate Moyes and his players will mean another "shock" win in the cup. They will have beaten 4 of the top 6 to win it.... so the chelsea team can win man for man in every position, but as a team, it will be close.

Terry, Chec, Lamps and drogba need to be in and on form...

Evertons best team would be tough with their injuries, but they will still be a good team, it was close both games this season

Posted by iamanangel79 on 05/21/2009

Maybe Bosingwa in the starting eleven instead of Sinclair.
I hope Chelsea might buy a good right winger for next season.
We lost the league because of our wingers dont managed to get the crosses in.(or do we have one?) Malouda only played well lately.. kudos to Hiddink
And yeah.. tiring to see the same players.

Posted by Kenny Yap on 05/21/2009

Yes, I dont think its wise to underestimate Everton. They are a strong team with good players. Indeed Chelsea is better than Everton in terms of theory and logic but that does not apply to football right? My guess is Moyes is going with the defensive strategy with counter attacks everytime they get a chance. I'm sure they'll be hunting for every corner kicks too.

4-4-2 is good, but I'd rather have Bosingwa on the right back as the attacking department would be the decided if we can lift the FA cup.

I'd rather see Kalou in the team than Sinclair, he's one for the future, just too soon for him at the mo.

I would prefer Ivanovic to Alex as well, i think hes better adept at set pieces against the likes of cahill, lescott, fellaini etc in the air, and quicker than Alex.

well i think i like the formatin u put out but i will play stock in place of sinclair and ivanovic is a better choice at right back cos everton play with set pieace . and hope n guss change the team alittle bit this weekend and give the young blues some run in the first team . will not matter much even if we loose the game . but just to give them some experience in the premier league

My team for the FA final goes thus: Cech in goal, Terry, Alex, Arshley Cole and Bosingwa in defence, Essien, Mikel, and Lampard in Midfield, then Malouda, Drogba and Anelka in attack.

Posted by Chuxy Austin Rugbere on 05/21/2009

well i will say this fa cup is very necessary for chelsea expeciall coach Guus and expecially chelsea fans. well the squad is okey but i believer we need mostly finish. this a game we must attack cos is just one winning game which is final. i think we should draft in Kalou to add more presure on the attack, sinclair has not been so consitent on the squad but we can give hime a trail. but we should try to change our players expecially the aspect of top finish cos chealsea fans are geeting week of seeing the same player every year we need change. Abranovic should go for some very attractive some like Adebayor, Ashen young and a perfect ball distributer who can move the ball with fear such is messi

Posted by charles Njoku on 05/21/2009

Its a good line-up.
But the problem is always the subs. Chelsea should not just allow what happened in Barcelona's game to repeat. The guys had that game on their palms to win but the sub that saw Belleti in did the harm.
The marking reduced in the mid-field and attack disarmed as well and nou-camp guys used that little chance to grab their success.

So please subs should most times be considered too.

Posted by mahmoud usman on 05/21/2009

I believe Mikel should get the nod ahead of Ballack. Sinclair is not prepared to to start at such a big stage. also, Chelsea must start to think of doing without Drogba. Kalou should be given the nod. I will play anelka anytime.

I love the fact that Liverpool are trophyless yet again. I would love to see Guus leave Stamford Bridge with silverware to show for the positive change he has made to the Blues squad since his arrival. In fact, it would be a worthy recognition for such a fine manager; however like I said before, it's not about who deserves to win silverware, it's about your earning it on the day. Plus Everton should not be underestimated - no team that makes it to the final should be underestimated, you will be daft to do so.

To see Ivanovic on the starting XI is an encouraging sign for the youth at Chelsea. I also have a secret little desire to see Di Santo feature in more first team action. With Drogba and Anelka both at or over 30, it would only be sensible to groom successors now, and push out Di Santo and the like to start some first team games next season.

Posted by Paul Roser on 05/21/2009

well done Moyes getting Everton into the final,a much better manager than Benetiz, but little chance against a fired-up Chelski. Last chance to see Drogba, Ballack and Co. before they are thankfully off-loaded.

First and foremost i'd like to hail Guus Hiddink for weathering the storm at my beloved blues. Thanks Guus wish you could stay. The Everton game is ours to win though we shoudnt be complacent. We need to be wary of Marouane Fellaini,Joleon Lescott and Jo when it comes to the aerial balls henceforth Ballack and Ivanovic will do the trick,Sinclairs place is in the reserve side,he has no big match temperament.Good Luck Chelsea

I wouldn't underestimate Everton. They have a decent squad they are lining up for the final. However, I think the squad you named is sound with the exception of Scot Sinclair. I feel he need another year to grow before he can be playing. I would try Malouda on the right and Kalou on the left. Kalou can play out left well and force crosses from his right and left.

first of all, dont rub it in on Arsenal and Liverpool. they're going to come back much much stronger next season. i've a feeling Wenger is finally going to buy that center back and central midfielder this summer. he's shown that he's willing to adapt by signing Arshavin already!
you're writing as if Chelsea are going to win. they havent won anything. they might still end the season empty handed too. theirs is an ageing squad. short shelf life left. good luck.
it'd be a fitting goodbye if Hiddink did end the season with a cup. but will it be healthy for Chelski in the long run? will Abramovic turn to Hiddink once again come end of next season if his manager (presumably Anchelotti) doesnt perform ? that would mean they'd be starting all over again. they havent had stability since Mourinho left. Stability is key in a club. just look at Man Utd.
EVerton are a solid, solid squad which has shown real togetherness and examplary work ethics. i believe they might just outrun some old legs!

Posted by gazzaxuk on 05/21/2009

As much of a true blue as i am, i certainly do not agree with your statement that 'I reckon our kids could beat Everton'. Time and again they have produced results against the odds with a depleted squad, always giving us a hard time of it, both Prem fixtures were 0-0 this season and if i recall they were unlucky at the Bridge.
i would be very surprised if Sinclair featured, one for the future perhaps, but you do not insert a player so inexperienced in a Final over Ballack. Also Bosingwa will retain his place for his attacking wing play, although Ivanovic has been fantastic when called upon. We also have the added incentives of a chance for silverware this season and Hiddinks last game at the helm.
Yes, it may be the same players again, as Peter Parker pointed out, but isn't that consistency, to finally have your best 11 playing together regularly?

Chelsea cannot afford to underestimate everton. On paper it looks like chelsea would take the trophy easily, but who predicted everton will oust Man Utd in the semi-final.

One thing everton is good at doing is playing the so-called big boys. And what do you know, chelsea is one of the so-called big boys. Remember when everton met chelsea at the bridge, chelsea fans were ever grateful to Jo for leaving his shooting boots at home or else chelsea should have lost that match. on the night they were tactically better than chelsea.
I believe the finals won't be any different, everton is going to come out with the same game plan but this time around they will remind Jo to bring his shooting boots.

Chelsea can't take this game lightly, they have to field their strongest team. i reckon the experience players should be given priority in this game. Ashley cole, terry, alex and bosingwa in the defence. Ballack in midfield along side essien and lampard. malouda, anelka and drogba up fron

I think hoping for Sinclair is a bit optimistic (I would much rather see Miro Stoch, myself, but I know it wont happen given the record of playing youngins) but on most other points I agree. Everton have the misfortune of a depleted attack and not having a brilliant player like Arteta and for that we need to expose them. Knowing that, I would probably throw Ballack into the mix, and just have the stronger midfield try and wear down Everton's superb backline by holding onto the ball and releasing Drogba, Malouda and Anelka at the right times. I think if we win the battle in the middle of park, and starve their attackers by having the majority of possession we can play the averages and get our chance or two

We certainly have to dictate the play though, and hope that our backline is aware enough to handle the inevitable counter from Everton. And for god's sake, mark Cahill and Fellaini on set pieces drum tight

Posted by Agidi James on 05/21/2009

Well i agreed with you that the choice fo sinclair in this crucial game is not a good one because this is not a game that chelsea should toil with rather mikel should come in there and later sinclair if the game has been rapped up by chelsea.

its too big of a game to throw inexperienced players into the mix for the FA cup final!

Drogba Anelka

I know ballack is not a wide player but anelka plays a lot like a winger anyways and bosingwa prowls up and down the right wing also. add kalou to the bench and its a pretty decent attacking threat who have player well together the last few weeks.

COME ON CHELSEA!!!!!

there is no way scott sinclair wil get a shot in this game. i see more of a chance for ricardo quaresma, who's only played one or two games since he's been on loan, gettin a start more then sinclair.

its too big of a game to throw inexperienced players into the mix for the FA cup final!
my starting lineup is to just stick to whats been working for guus this season.

Cech
Bosingwa Alex Terry A. Cole

Lampard Essien
Ballack Malouda

Drogba Anelka

Andy Thornton, you are an awful correspondent. I'm sick of reading the trash you publish and personnaly I believe you to be an embarassment to Chelsea and our fan base. Where is Dave Esposto? He was possibly the greatest correspondent anyone could ask for and they replaced him with a clown. Stop writing immature pointless articles. I honestly feel like you must be 12. Stop. Please.

Posted by Idris Aloma on 05/21/2009

I believe Everton are a good side and must not be underated. We could not beat them on both legs of our premier league encounter. As for the team list, Bosingwa has to start from the right because of his forays going forward. I believe Chelsea's midfield without John Mikel Obi leaves a vacuum. He has a perfect vision for passes (he is chelsea's highest ball passer this season),and is not always eager to go forward. This ensures that there is always someone to assist in defense when our wing-backs go forward. Essien and lampard should of course complete the midfield. The three pronged attack of Malouda-Drogba-Anelka should complete the squad.

Posted by Patrick on 05/21/2009

Isn't Sinclair on loan? Even if he isn't, there's no way you can leave Obi Mikel out of this squad. With Essien hurt, he was one of the best players Chelsea had all year and learned the trade of holding mid rather quickly. Also, Boswinga has been in great form and shown that he can make some great runs down the right and even score a goal if need be (anybody remember the Hull match)?

Aside from that, I think your team's spot on. Drogs and Anelka will continue to work well up front and a resurgent Malouda should wreak havoc down the left.

I'd say they play something like a 4-1-2-1-2 with Mikel holding, Essien and Lamps in the centre, Malouda on the wing and Drogba and Anelka up front. I think Drogba continues his streak of scoring in big games and Lampard adds another.

2-1 Chelsea
Drogba '23
Lampard '49
Cahill '74

your team is a joke -- a bunch of high-priced bullyboys and divers. some of the most unattractive football around. i don't understand how anyone could support them or enjoy watching them play.

"Biggest game of the season" is a bit of a misnomer, because the only reason it is so is because of losing other bigger games for bigger competitions. It's a great competition, but most sides would prefer success in the Champions League or the Premier League, and so rightly perhaps the semifinal loss was the biggest of the season. Biggest left.

I think they will stick with the 4-2-3-1 but if Guus does go to the 4-4-2, I would sooner put Quaresma or Deco on the right than Sinclair, assuming they are fit to play.

I hope they stick to the 4 2 3 1 with Mikel and Essien holding, and Bosingwa in at fullback. As we say in the States "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Posted by Sunshine on 05/21/2009

Well thank god. Thank god that finally you are happy about something. I don't think I've had to read so much whinging since...well since ever. I have a feeling we'll be hearing much more of the same rubbish even IF Chelski do lift the cup. But I see that you have conveniently forgotten that Everton denied Chelski a full 4 points; at Goodison they should have won, and at the Bridge it could have gone either way. Those 4 points would have given Chelski second place, plus a mathematical chance at the title. But as it is, I think Chelski will do well to win the FA Cup, as Everton are a class side. They are no pushovers.

Posted by kingsley on 05/22/2009

For eventon a 442 formation is fine but a little twist on the left. Instead of playing Drogba and Anelka together, a little twist won`t hurt. How about Drogba and Malouda up front. Malouda running the left flanks helping Drogba up front and he Malouda coming back help centre pack and Ashele cole from the left back. It require him to run a lot and play more fordermental role. While Essien, Lampard, Ballack and Mike be in the middle and Terry, Alex, Ashely cole and Bosingwa stays at the back and ofcourse Cech will be manning the post. Bench sitters will be Anelka, Kalou, Ivanovic, Ballette, Stoch and Hilario. This to me is a perfect start.

Chelsea are yet to beat Everton this season, so to predict their 'kids' could do it is just as juvenile as the aforementioned!

Chelsea are clear favourites and will be fighting their all. Everton, for what they lack in class will definitely make up for (and then some) in passion and pure determination!

Wembley (not a great pitch), FA Cup final...Everton in the the full 90 minutes or a goal in the first half of extra time to take it!

That would be nice (for the neutrals as well as the Toffee's fans)!

Posted by Tristiany Putra on 05/22/2009

There lies the problem with a big rich club crowded with superstars footballers. They thought they could beat anybody. Kids to beat Everton? You can only manage a draw in Stamford Bridge.

Everton has taken the toughest opponents en route to the Final. Aston Villa, Liverpool, Man U. Who says they can't do it again in the Finals?

Go on, let the big fat ego of you Chelsea fans bloated your big fat heads. As like Arsenal and Liverpool, the chances of Chelsea not winning a trophy is still 50-50. Do not count the chickens when the eggs aren't hatched. World beaters? You can't even beat Liverpool for the second spot!

I'd like to see kalou in there somewhere - a woefully under used player. Real shame there's no Deco, they're a little less predictable with such a player(same goes for J.Cole).
But whatever the starting line up Chelsea will need to be on their game, they've really battled against Everton the last few years and outside of the usual suspects they are the last team I'd want to play in the final. Experience in these big games is a real plus for Chelsea though, Everton might be a bit overawed (hopefully).

Anyone who complains about Chelsea's bankroll is simply jealous. You cant honestly expect anyone to believe that you wouldnt want all that money to buy whoever you wanted. Yes Chelsea buys superstars and i'd like to see more youngins that is for sure, but just because you buy wonderkids at 17 or 18 (Arsenal) Doesnt mean you have developed a youth player, so get off your high horses. And cite all the history you want cause in the last five years i havnt seen an Arsenal team that can compete for anythng, espcially London supremacy. 4-1?

Lets salvage whats left and lift a trophy for once in a while.

Other supporters, go ahead and hate on chelsea because (man u and barca aside) your teams arnt winning either. History? Man, that FA cup in 72 is still giving me chills! History has to start somewhere. Go support your team instead of bashing ours.

Posted by Terence on 05/24/2009

Since Mourinho's era, there has been 1 common glaring similarity between all the managers. They never dare to use the youngsters. Scott Sinclair, Stoch, Mancienne, Di Santo and even Ben Sahar are quite good talent, but they are used very very sparingly because all the managers believe in the array of talent they had.

What makes Man U successful is that they dared to give chances to the young players and room to grow. Chelsea for the past 2-3 seasons especially has been very predicatable in terms of the line-up. They got to start playing the young lads in the starting 11 while all the stars like Ballack, Drogba, Lampard, Terry etc are still there and in their prime.

Well, firstly, the author is obviously just trying to stir up some interest in his article by being "outrageous." However, even though I feel it is just a tactic, it still lacks class. I'm a a Man. Utd. fan of nearly 40 years. Liverpool and Arsenal are our "sworn enemies." However, that's football. Those of us with class respect those great clubs and would not denigrate them as you have. United, Liverpool and Arsenal have nothing to prove to anyone. And Chelsea is not in their league in terms or silverware or setting an example to youngsters. I'm hoping the battlers from Everton win this one.

Bosingwa Alex Terry A.Cole

Essien Lampard

Kalou Malouda

Anelka Drogba

Bench: Hillario, Ivanovic, Mancienne, Ballack, Mikel, Quaresma, Santo.

This is my line up for chelsea...
But if Chelsea lead, i will replace Bosingwa with Ivanovic. Coz Iva is more good on defensive role. On the midfield center Essien will more to Defensive and Lampard more to attacking side..

Lampard and essien of course and i like the idea of mikel so they can move forward but i think more attack would be better so i like kalou on one side and malouda down the other no mikel he can be on the bench along with ballack
Drogba and Anelka up forward and they'll definately be able to put up some gols against everton who has a good defense but weak offense.

The original post is a sad statement of fan sentiment. So you are happy that the FA cup final keeps Arsenal and Liverpool out of trophies....

For objective observers, Chelsea finished third in the Premier League, not first. It did not make it to the CL final. It's players bully and dive more than most. The club runs as a rich man's playtoy, on financial deficits financed by the club's sugardaddy. It is hardly the best team or the most admired club.

No. the club in the FA Cup final with class is Everton. Well run. A manager that gets the best out of the team. A team that plays as a team, not a bunch of spolied brats.

I think one side will enjoy more support from the "neutrals" in this final. And it is not Chelsea. Now, may be Chelsea will win on the day. But win the respect of others, no.

I agree that we should not underestimate everton..After the 180 minutes at goodison park and stamford bridge without a goal it sure will be tough..though chelsea can out muscle them with their midfield..
this is my starting line up as i feel the best team should play in a match like this:

I think everton should not be underestimated, they have done very well under moyes.this is the last chance for a silverware this season and i hope chelsea players do it not only for their fans but also for hiddink.

with the defeat to Barca, i pray that chelsea will crush Everton and have a cup home.Ambromovic have spent alot to be cupless this season. Mike, essian and lampard should control the midfield while drogba, kaluo and quaresmo should lead the attack. our defence should remain focused not to slip at the last minute. Blue for live

What happened to Quaresoma? He was on loan right? he just played one game under scolari and then vanished !!! I liked the way he played though in the only game.

SO, WE PRAY THAT FA CUP WE BE OUR'S IN JESUS NAME. WE ARE THE BEST TEAM IN THE WORLD, UP BLUES

So bitter. Typical Chelsea fan, insecure and more worried about other clubs than your own.
Arrogant too, so much disrespect.
You're nothing club, Everton have a more legitimate history than you do and I hope they beat you.
Classless, whinging, moaning, diving wankers.

Read till i got tired of reading. Honestly(without doubt), chelsea has a bunch of very outstanding players. I just wonder y they are hated and intimidated by UEFA. If some decisions against chelsea by some officials were not intentional, may God and Chelsea forgive them, but if they were intentional, corruption wil continue running in their blood and in the blood of their childern and childern's children and so on, AMEN. I believe 1 man (Ovrebo) has hurt many blue fans. Watching matches these days has even gotten many so tired bcos from my view, its now a game of politics. Please let the officiating be very fair this time. The trophy should be given to anybody who merits it. I feel chelsea is the favourite for the cup if there is no intimidation on the pitch this time. I expect to see the exact team that was rubbed barely two weeks ago to do the dirty job for the blues and GUSS. Chelsea, what a club so dear to my heart. KUDOS TO A GREAT CLUB. KUDOS TO CHELSEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guss should try and feature obi mikel instead of old Ballack.

Much has been said but all we need is to beat everton so as to be equal with Man U coz Barca is beating them tonight

I'll never forget everton because they are the one's who dumped us out in competing barclays premium league trophy the draw we had with them totally perished our dreams of securing the first runner's chance leave aside the painful defeat by tottenham but the win over everton could have paved a smooth way to win a premium league trophy.
since they were the ones who perished our dreams now its the time to prove that the blues are gingastic i suggest the following first eleven squad. CECH,BOSINGWA,COLE,ALEX,TERRY,MIKEL,ESSIEN,LAMPARD,MOLOUDA,DROGBA AND ANELKA

i think it would be better this way
................cech.................
bosiwga....alex...........terry .....cole
..............ballack................
......essien....lampard.............malouda
.....................................anelka
drodga .....

I'm not sure if this is a joke or something but i would expect ESPN to get writers that actually know something about football...honestly this guy underestimates everton considering what happened when they last played each other?? Sinclair gets to start??? C'mon ESPN I honestly expected a lot better than this guy

Just want to comend on coach Hindicks, yes you have prove to everybody that you knows what you're doing, more greez to your eble. Sir iwant to advice you to also attached the spiritual to your God giving tallent, which i believe has the power to expose your victory in his grace, this means despite all the polities under the sun your grace will always shine. Remember is the spiritual that controls the physical. Thanks from pastor Vincent. Nigeria.
