Celtic FC

It is just like waiting for a Glasgow bus watching Celtic, you have a disappointment and then two wins come along to bring the smiles back to the Hoops fans faces, one meaning you go back to the top of the league, the other although it was welcome, could not help the Hoops crashing out of the Europa League leaving only the SPL and the Scottish Cup to go for.

Everyone knows that Celtic have not had their troubles to seek this season,Tony Mowbray has been pulling his hair out watching defensive errors week in,week out and the match against Dundee United was no different.

Leading 1-0 through a Barry Robson penalty, the team again failed to see the match out and eventually lost the game 2-1 but rather than give the Celtic defence the bird on this occassion,I feel I should credit the Dundee United side for hanging in there and believing that they could actually win the match.

The Celtic defence has come in for some stick this season,Ravi has had a field day slagging off Caldwell and McManus on a regular basis for both club an country but although our defence is poor,I feel that Tony Mowbray will be taking steps soon to sort this particular problem.

One man who the Celtic fans will not see playing for the club again is young defender John Kennedy. At the age of only 26 has had to give up the game after sustaining serious knee damage making his debut for Scotland in 2004. A match which was an International friendly game v Romania in which Ionel Ganea put the boot into John's leg after the whistle had already gone! I was there with my best mate Jeff and remember thinking at the time how horrible and nasty a tackle in was.

I can only wish John and his family all the very best for the future and I would like to think that either Celtic or Scotland would be able to offer John something to keep him in the game which he loved so much.

Celtic have had to deal with the news that neither Scott Brown or Shaun Maloney will be available for selection for the next couple of months due to injury, lets hope that they come back stronger than ever.

After Setanta went down the tubes both the Old Firm clubs lost their Celtic and Rangers TV channels and these were really enjoyable and a big miss until now....BBC ALBA have stepped in to bring a brand new programme to our screens called CLUB TV which features both Old Firm teams in an hour long programme.

Tom Boyd,Arthur Numan and big Calum MacAulay will present the shows on a monthly basis.
I watched the first one and found it really interesting, anyone else see it?
Now I know big Calum well and he is a great big lad and it is great to see someone get a chance to do something they love doing, give it a watch and let us know what you think but also remember to watch your team on ESPN!

The Active Nation Scottish Cup draw took place this week and Celtic have been drawn away to either Dumbarton/Morton in what will be a big pay day for either of those two clubs.

Celtic were back in Europa League action on Wednesday but the headlines have not been about the action on the pitch, the game had been overshadowed by the news that the STUC-Scottish Trades Union Congress want the Celtic fans to wave Palestinian flags at the Hapoel Tel Aviv fans and the club had reacted to this by saying back the team forget about any outside influences.

The headlines should have been that Celtic won the match 2-0 with goals from Samaras and Robson and a better performance but all the talk before the match was of this protest but thankfully it never happened.

I also noticed that on the day of the big match, yet again our daily rags sorry newspapers were having a go at the manager even before the game had even started!

These sports writers and the gutter headlines that they write about Celtic are even more reason why we should back the team and the manager.

He is still trying to build a team, his team at Celtic Park and he should be given time.

Celtic have a massive match at the weekend when Aberdeen and Lee Miller come to town along with former Celt, manager Mark McGhee.

Mark is another manager who should be given time to get things right at Pittodrie,he was part of the Gothenburg legends of 83 and he was the man who not only crossed the ball for John Hewitt to score the winner in the Cup Winners Cup v Real Madrid but scored himself along with Neil Simpson to take the Super Cup to Pittodrie.

Back in the eighties the Dons used to come to Celtic Park and Ibrox and go back up the road with the points such was the quality of the Pittidrie men in those days, they had no fear of the Old Firm and I just wonder, especially with Mark in charge and after the result against Rangers last week,I think the Dandy Dons will come down to Glasgow full of confidence and why should they not?

I think Saturday's match has all the making's of a really good game!

I find it pathetic and unfathomable that the STUC had the nerve to call for Celtic fans to wave Palestinian flags at our match vs Tel Aviv. When a large section of a clubs fan base goes out of their way to try to leave politics out of football the last thing in the world we want is to be dragged into someone else's battle. Maybe the supporter's can call for the STUC to wave Irish flags at their next meeting. That would make sense, now wouldn't it?
Also, why is it that enough Rangers and Chelsea fans to fill an entire section of a stadium can travel to Germany to wave Union Jacks and political slogans at a Celtic match and it hardly gets any mention in any media outlet?
