Stuart Holden impressed in his debut for Wanderers on Wednesday night and hopes it will stand him in good stead for the remainder of the campaign.

The midfielder is hoping that a regular role with Wanderers will put him in contention for a World Cup berth with the United States and did well on his first start since crossing the Atlantic in January.

He said after the game: "I thought we had some good chances, but when you play against that type of quality you are going to get punished if you don't take them. I felt good out there I was helped by the lads and the Manager. They have really made me feel part of the set up and so I was pleased to get the chance to show people what I can do.

"The game was quick and I thought we did play some good stuff at times, but unfortunately the result doesn't show that."

Holden started out in the centre of the park before switching over to the right flank as the game transpired.

He added: "I play out wide for the USA and central for my MLS team, and so I have worked hard on my versatility and will always give it my best shot. I will keep on working hard to try and keep myself in the reckoning with the Manager."

Holden was great, so much better than having Gardner in that position...
He must be the first Texan to play in the premier league surely.

YEE HAW!

Holden is a better signing than Weiss and Wilshire, I dont understand the big deal about those 2 youngsters so far.
