Ian Holloway has called for the Premier League to take into consideration bringing in a winter break.

Around Christmas and New Year football is played on Boxing Day and New Years Day, leaving players little time to train and prepare in the correct way for the fixtures, and little time to celebrate with their own families.

Blackpool host Liverpool on Boxing Day then travel to Eastlands to face Manchester City on New Years Day, two of six Premier League fixtures for the Seasiders over the festive period.

Successive Premier League defeats to Manchester City and Birmingham leaves Blackpool 14th in the table, just one point better off than 18th placed Liverpool.

Since returning from the International break, Ian Holloway's side have suffered defeats to the men in blue.

A gallant effort at Bloomfield Road against big spenders Manchester City ended in a 3-2 defeat after super sub Marlon Harewood netted late goals.

The following week, individual errors cost the Seasiders any chance of picking up points at St. Andrews against a Birmingham side only to have been beaten once at home in the past two seasons.

Following a perfect start to the season on the pitch, there has been lots of activity off the pitch in the week leading up to Blackpool's tough test at the Emirates this Saturday.

The Seasiders snapped up another key player this week, signing Israeli international defender Dekel Keinan. The former Maccabi Haifa player has signed a one year deal with the option of a second year. The 25 year old is Holloway's seventh signing of the season and goes into contention for selection against Arsenal.
