Ian Holloway's search for affordable Premier League talent has finally come to an emphatic end today with the Seasiders unveiling five new signings.

The latest to pen a deal is English striker Marlon Harewood who has previous top flight experience with West Ham United and Aston Villa. The 30 year old formerly free agent has committed his future to Blackpool for the next two years and is set to be named as a starter on Saturday away to Wigan.

Earlier today the club confirmed they had also secured the services of Northern Irish central defender Craig Cathcart from Manchester United, along with French midfielders Malaury Martin, Ludovic Sylvestre and Elliot Grandin.

Cathcart has agreed a three year deal whilst Barcelona graduate Sylvestre and fellow midfielder Grandin have penned two year deals with the option of a further year.

The Seasiders captured Grandin's services from Bulgarian club CSKA Sofia and Sylvestre from Czech side Mlada Boleslav.

Martin has signed for one year on a free from French outfit AS Monaco after impressing during his month long trial period at Bloomfield Road.

With the exception of Harewood, Ian Holloway has certainly opted to go for youth, signing 21 year olds Cathcart and Martin, 22 year old Grandin and 26 year old Sylvestre.

The new signings do not have much time to prepare ahead of Saturday's league opener at the DW Stadium, but if anyone can get a bunch of new faces together and help them gel into a team; Ollie can.

Holloway is a canny manager and it's great to see the Seasiders back in the top flight after almost 40 years. If he keeps them up he will be manager of the year.
