Next season's Championship campaign kicks off a couple of weeks later than usual on August 18th due to the Olympics taking place. If we still have a football club to support by that time, I am looking forward to going to a few new grounds, particularly standing on the terraces at Peterborough whilst old favourites like Barnsley away in mid January is always a pleasure! Whatever happens regarding the future of the manager, the damage has already been done and sticking a plaster over a gaping wound will do little to solve the underlying problem at the club.
There have been many dark days in this calendar year, but the Winter Solstice morning is particularly bleak. The whole of the watching football world will have witnessed the scenes and heard the sounds coming out of Ewood following defeat to Bolton and those unaware of the year long pantomime will have been shocked. The curtain may well come down on Part 1 with the removal of the manager but this only one aspect of the sorry tale.
If Kean does go, Venkys still remain and the fundamental problems which are disabling the club will continue to spread. If they continue to be unable to fulfil their duty to the club and supporters, it is time to put Rovers back on the market and walk away. Whatever happens and whoever comes in they will be aware that the club will have to adjust to life in the lower leagues for the first time in 10 years and try to rebuild.
This is not being pessimistic, it is being realistic. I would be overjoyed to see Mark Hughes return on a short term basis but the task ahead of him and the conditions he would have to contend with would make it virtually impossible for him to succeed in keeping the club up. Therefore I doubt he will accept the challenge. The first stages of the new era could come in the January transfer window with the sale of assets such as Samba, Hoilett and Robinson with younger and cheaper lower league players moving to Ewood in return.
In all but name, Rovers ceased to be a Premier League team at 9.50PM on Tuesday 20th December. Merry Christmas Venkys.

I ain't a Blackburn a fan; but cant agree more with you. You have put this aptly & I have sympathy about BR being treated like a company & not a football club by Venky's.

I feel your pain and sympathise. FFC fans staged a peaceful demonstration on the pitch back in 87 v Walsall when dark forces attached to our club then sought to evict us and 'amalgamate' with QPR. It's the one time in my life I ever jumped the fence at a footie ground.
We know the calibre of Mr. Kean down here of course, where he and Cookie took Fulham off the rails around 2006.

Come on now. I am an Arsenal fan and so well-acquainted with doomsday fears and unpredictability. So I say this.
You are only halfway through the season. No way is it a sure thing you are going down. Teams hit runs of form, they change, they improve. All you need is a couple of wins in a row to put you back on track.
No way is it the case that you are done. Too much quality in this squad to go down so easily.

Most football fans are very conflicted towards their feelings on a particular subject, but I think almost everyone sympathizes with Blackburn fans' current ordeal.
Here's to Kean's sacking, and hopefully Venky's reading an Idiot's Guide to Running a Professional Top-flight Football Club.

As a life-long Manchester United supporter, you don't need me to tell you of the mutual dislike between our clubs. However, to see what is currently going on at Ewood Park truly is disgusting. Blackburn Rovers is a proud club, with an important place in English football history. It's one thing to have a manager who's not quite up to the task and demands of Premiership football; it's quite another to have seemingly disconnected and unqualified owners. Kean got the job under curious circumstances and his seige-mentality is both alarming and destructive, however, the incompetance of Venky's is even scarier. They seem such amateurs, almost as if they're winging football ownership while on the job. I'm sure I'm in the minority and without knowing your reamining fixtures, I think Rovers can avoid the drop. Kean has to go, that's a given, but hiring the right man sooner rather than later, is key. Good luck and I hope you lot stay up.

summed up perfectly....interesting side note is that there is currently no director of football at the club and hasn't been since august with venky's stating that one wasn;t needed....John Williams a much respected and effective chairman was forced out in february this year and is now potentially joining manchester city...sam allardyce a well respected and experienced manager brilliant at engineering premier league survival and also to counteract what venky's said about him took bolton into europe was sacked and replaced by steve kean who had no first team managerial experience and then went to state that europe or champions league football was achievable in "the near future"
It shows that blackburns problems stem not from kean but from the muppet venky's who have no clue about football and left no support structure in place for an inexperienced manager and would no doubt fail to have one if mark hughes joined or any other experienced manager decided to take over the trainwreck club

Surely there is enough quality in the squad to mount a revival under a better manager? 5 points from safety can certainly be made up. Just need to keep key players in January and add a couple. Under Steve Kean, yes, relegation looks certain, but a couple of good results and they are right back in the fight.

when will you guys stop trying to force out Kean and start trying to force out Venky's? it's evident where the real problem is.

I have nothing but sympathy for BR. I am a Bolton fan and it is quite amazing seeing the difference between your fans towards Venkys and Kean and then BW fans towards Coyle. Similar position table wise but miles apart when it comes to the managers thoughts in the fans. It was only 2 years ago that we had Megson in place and things were very much 180degrees at Bolton to what they are now and the fans let the board know. I feel your pain Rovers and best of luck for the rest of the season, I trust you can turn it around but it needs to happen off the field first.

I really wish it wasn't true but I have to agree 100% Venky is running it like a company not a Premier League team, I also believe they are going to the Championship League! the only way to avoid this is they have to turn all of those ties to wins and turn those 1 goal losses to ties or wins because if you are seeing the same team i am they are not getting their a** kicked every weekend this is a team that has only lost 4 games by more then 1 goal! as appose to Wingan Athletic who has lost 7 game by at least 2 goals (Wingan is currently who we would have to jump)

It's so obvious that the owners venkys don't really care for the club. All they require is publicity. For 23 Million pounds, they have already recoup and reap the rewards with adverts and sales from both their products and players from the club.
They are running the club in a shoe string budget and if they are lucky to avoid the drop , they will earn even more.
Pity the club doesn't have a dedicated owner like Whelan for Wigan.

Am a WH fan and surely I know how all the Blackburn fans feels when we had our own clown A.Grant in charge last season who took us down the same path.
I think things might spell out different for Blackburn though as there are more weaker teams this season than last. Last season, the relegation race for the 20th spot was on till the last 2 weeks of the league. This season though sees plenty of teams who cannot win on a consistent basis - QPR, Wigan, Wolves, Bolton and I have a gut feel that teams like Norwich, Swansea will also flirt around the relegation zone so hang on in there Blackburn supporters!

I am a Blackburn fan from Mauritius and is really disappointed with what is happening to our club this season. There is still a handful of matches to be played and i really think we have the squad to get back in the right direction.
On the other hands, i guess that the business focus of the Owners (which they claim while purchasing the club) is a complete failure and if they atleast have some compassion for us should pass on the club to more competent people and more important to someone who is a real football lover and understands the emotions and history of the club.

I am a 30 year Blackburn fan living in the U.S. I feel helpless watching the team in so much trouble week after week. How long can this circus go on. What happened to all the cash that Venky's promised for top class players. Why would top players want to come to Blackburn anymore. I blame the owners 100%. Steve Kean needs to go gracefully as soon as possible. I guess you cannot blame him for sticking in there but he is out of his class. Let us pray that Mark Hughes would come back before it is too late.

Well see it this way, if you want to see kean and venky's gone maybe its good to go down to the championship. If anything it's a blessing in disguise. 2 or 3 seasons rebuild the team and most likely get back into the premiership stronger than when you left.

Hey, we are still in it! Suree, it's not a walk in the park, but a 1-1 tie against Liverpool helps. Let's go, Rovers! Let's spend some cash! We can do this!
