Blackburn Rovers

The glorious 'Indian Summer' weather we had this weekend was in complete contrast to the mood that all Rovers fans were feeling leaving Goodison on Sunday. The performance raised more questions than answers and was the latest in long line of away days where the faithful travelled in hope rather than expectation.

I have said many times before that we do not have the quality to play a passing game, equally we do not have the personnel in the right places to do justice to the current system. We are stuck between a rock and a hard place and that should worry us all. I still have faith in Sam to fulfill his remit of keeping us up but by continually playing a 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1 formation, he is testing the patience of the most loyal supporter.

As for poor Jason Roberts, it is nothing personal. He gives 100% and I appreciate the effort he puts into every game. But unfortunately that is not good enough. By asking him to play as the lone man upfront, with the total lack of service he receives, it is akin to kicking a blind man's stick away!

Another odd tactical decision was to play a natural right back in Chimbonda, at left back and bring in Salgado to fill that right hand side birth. In previous articles I have warmly welcomed his signing, not just for what he will bring on the pitch but for what he will give the club off it. Having seen his debut, I hope the club has plenty lined up for him to do behind the scenes!

He clearly was not fit or alert enough to handle the Everton runners. But you do not play a mountain of games for the greatest club side in the world if you are bobbins! After all, Andre Ooijer's first game for the club was hardly impressive and he ended up doing a great job for the club. The jury is out.

The consolation prize for us all after a sorry day is that in this season, more than any in recent memory, there are clubs who will do there best to be dragged into the relegation mix. In no particular order; Portsmouth, Hull, Wigan, Bolton, Birmingham, Wolves, Stoke and yes, the media darlings that are Burnley, will all play a part in the pantomine.

As to who will take the roles of the Ugly Sisters....Only time will tell.

I don't understand Blackburn at all. They have/had one or two players who seem to be true class. To sell Roque, I assumed they had someone lined up to take his birth, but as you mentioned, only the lonely Jason Roberts has been employed as the big man. I apologize if someone disagrees, but he doesn't have the quality to keep blackburn up and score big goals.

As for you're choice for the relegation mix, I think putting wigan into that category is harsh, they have class and some great players.

kudos to you for pointing out the deep-felt fustration that I have been getting while watching Sam's tactics employed on blackburn these days! its so painfully hopeless to see them play... he is transforming another Bolton team in blackburn! no creativity, lack of ideas and totally reliant on set-pieces to get a goal.

and yet you just beat villa 2-1. Sam may not put out an attractive style but he gets the results.
