Blackburn Rovers

So the billionaires rolled down the M66 in their thousands (thanks to our benevolent ticket policy) expecting their newly assembled globe trotters to waltz their way through the 90 minutes. Let's be fair, City deserved the victory, but on this display, can you really see them challenging when the daffodils are blooming in Springtime. Having said that, the wild and hysterical celebrations at the final whistle suggested the silverware was already on it's way to Eastlands.

As expected, Rovers were full of energy and aggression(without hospitalising anyone!) but lack creativity which will mean a lack of goals. There is also no pace in the team. Something which has been missing for a couple of seasons. Does anyone know if Usain Bolt has a sibling who can also kick a football straight?

Nzonzi seems comfortable on the ball without providing much penetration. But comparisons with Patrick Viera can stop with the French connection.

Jacobsen was impressive and with the returning Admiral Nelson, the defence will not cause us too many sleepless nights.

Di Santo will improve with every minute but many of the regulars are already pinning their hopes on mystery man Kalinic to provide the goals if someone can provide the service.

It was good to see all sides of the ground full on Saturday. Rovers and the board have not received the praise they deserve for the revolutionary ticketing policy. Only Huddersfield, Rotherham and Stanley can boast cheaper season tickets. It would have been nice to have received the ticket in time for the game though!

This is a unique season. A throw back to a forgotton age where many small Northern towns prided themselves on watching top flight football at 3PM on a Saturday afternoon. Now its Sunday at 1 or Monday at 8 but those of us from the less fashionable clubs should enjoy this time. How long will it be before the bigger city clubs have licked their gaping wounds and forced their way back to the top table?

As for Rovers, we will be fine.
