Sam's going to be with us until Christmas, anyway, now he's managed to get a couple of likely strikers in. Nikola Kalinic of Hadjuk Split will cost up to £12m, and the Croatian international needs to get some rapid training and familiarisation ready for his first big test - scoring against Man. City. Or Fulham at least. Even the last friendly against Hibs mid-week will be exhilarating and exciting if he's in properly by then. To make sure Sam's smiling when Santa Claus arrives, he's also pulled in Chelsea's Franco di Santo. The baby-faced Argy is in until the January transfer window, possibly beyond, but there's plenty of drama to come before that decision. He'll have to do a lot better than he has at Chelsea, but that's what Sam's good at, eh lads?

Rovers' goalie Mark Bunn is going to sharpen his skills with the Blades, covering for Paddy Kenny, who's waiting to hear what happens when you fail a drugs test, so the loan is just for a month initially. Any good puns about Blades and Bunn, on a postcard please; we've exhausted the burn, black, bun in oven theme, so steel yourself for new ones.

Otherwise, sense from Stan: "I like those moves by Big Sam. It will be interesting to see what di Santo and Kalinic can do. Portsmouth has to be wincing, though, because I've read several reports about Hart really fancying Kalinic."

Hi Stan! I see you're American from your singular use of Portsmouth.. we would say they "have to be wincing.." Did you see that Chelsea finished the World Football Challenge with a 100 per cent record thanks to a 2-0 victory over Club America in Dallas? The Blues followed up successes over Inter Milan and AC Milan with a confident performance against the Mexicans.
They secured the win with two goals in the second half from Franco Di Santo and Florent Maloud..

Any idea how Club America rate?

whatever happen to rovers signing ruud? With ruud, comes a proven goal scoring record. i've never heard of kalinic. 12m pound for an unknown? Risky business,i would say.

Sam needs a creative playmaker as well,if the strikers are ever gonna score. Tugay's gone and dunn is abit too injury prone.

ooooohhhhh... at 6ft7, we'll be seeing alot more of those long ball forward to our centre forward just like last season's makeshift attack aka chris o sambaaaaaaaa

If he finishes like how they show him on youtube, we might well see another top first season showing by a new striker as yet! wonder how much he'll cost on fantasy league.

good to see another sg rovers fan azmi =)

Kalinic will score provided he gets good service and Di Santo can be very creative I think 2 good moves from big Sam, I dont want to upset Portsmouth more but we probably have a good opportunity to put some pace in our defence which it lacks if we bid for Belhadj and we could go for another Croation in Krancjar as our midfied are injury prone, what do you think, am I talking sense?

Just to avoid confusion I understand the deal for Kalinic is as follows:

£3 Million up front
further £3 Million in July
£500,000 when he has scored 15 goals for us

the remainder of the reported 12 Million fee is made up of the players £1.5 Million a year salary, which at just under £30,000 per week isn't too bad in todays crazy market!

yeah, pumping long balls forward but i sure hope we wont be doing that. i prefer rovers playing neat attacking football like we did 2-3 years ago which got us into the uefa cup. ned,u're from sg too?

i hafta agree with Chris.Rovers defence could do with some speed.i can still see torres and stevie.G ripping us apart.

i've watched the videos of kalinic on Youtube, for £6m..i hope he delivers. any truth to the latest news that the Bordeaux striker might come to ewood?
