Javi Martinez is probably, more-likely-than-not, coming to Munich early next week. With all the reports and counter-reports, I'll try to sort you out.
SSV Jahn Regensburg and FC Bayern Muenchen are the last two teams to match up in this first round of DFB-Pokal matches. There have been a surprising amount of upsets thus far: Newly promoted Bundesliga squad (and Bayern's opening opponents next weekend) SpVgg Greuther Fuerth were taken down 2-0 by third-division Kickers Offenbach. Thomas Rathgeber (28th min., penalty) and Lars Bender (90+ min, and no, not that one) completed the scoring for OFC.

If this DFB Super-Pokal (or DFL-Supercup) were comprised of the opponents it's supposed to have, Dortmund would be playing themselves. Alas, Bayern Munich were the Bundesliga (and everything else) runners-up last season, so it's time, once again, to trot out this new / old rivalry. Last time Bayern featured in this match, in 2010, they beat Schalke 2-0. And the last time the Bavarians met up with Borussia Dortmund here in 2008, they lost 2-1.

Sadly, this is the last year that this cup will be called the "LIGA total!". Sky Deutschland AG outbid Deutsche Telekom in June for the broadcast rights. Stock up on those white / infrared away kits while you can, as we won't see the pretty T-com pink again!

With two friendlies in two days, the upcoming LIGA total! cup this weekend and an injury to another defender, I figured it was high time for my summer break to be over. So, I've dusted off the trusty laptop, unlocked my footie lexicon and gave my fingers a little stretch. I'm back for another season of Bayern Munich!
