A late rookie-style mistake from the usually excellent Inter keeper Julio Cesar allowed the ever advantageous Mario Gomez to score the winning goal in the 90th minute in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 match at the San Siro. Phew! It's a long sentence that neatly sums up what was, for sure, the premiere match Wednesday, evidenced by the snooze-fest that was Marseilles - Manchester United. FSC: Take note. Just because matches are played with English teams doesn't make them automatically better. Or more entertaining.

Am I the only one who was unhappy with the 3-1 victory on Saturday over Mainz? All the reviews I read were headed with titles like "Bayern Thrash Mainz" or "German Title Holders Storm Over Mainz". Hmmmmm...
Not that it wasn't lovely to get the three points, and for a short time move up to second place in the Bundesliga. And, of course, it's wonderful to see Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben back out on the pitch together, working their magic. Bastian Schweinsteiger's goal was a definite plus. And the added bonus of seeing Toni Kroos finally returned from injury? Great.

Last week saw me bemused with the bit of fluff that Luca Toni, and most of the press, considered a news piece. Apparently, LvG dropped trou on the Bayern team bus, back when Toni was still on the squad and Toni chose not to mention it until last week? Huh?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but European locker rooms can't be that much different from American ones- you know, where modesty does not generally apply. I'm sure that's not the first pair that Mr. Toni has seen, nor will it be his last. Bollocks, I say!
