For the second time in two matches Arsenal returned home from Manchester with nothing to show for their efforts but a stinging sense of injustice. Whilst the 4-2 scoreline flattered City and the behaviour of Emmanuel Adebayor left a vile taste in the mouth, the Gunners can once again only blame themselves for not taking more from a game in which they were worthy of at least a share of the spoils.
Most of this morning's headlines rightly address the shameful performance of Adebayor. It is understandable that a player might think he has something to prove when coming up against a club that has discarded him but there are ways and means of going about that. The methods that Adebayor deployed to make his point only really served to prove what a classless and crass moron he is.
In the early stages of the match he committed a challenge on Cesc that was easily worthy of a yellow card and, on other days with a less lenient referee in charge, might have even seen a red one produced. Yesterday though, he got away with that and went on to do much worse. In the second half Robin Van Persie flew into a rash challenge on the Togolese who responded by attempting to stamp on the Dutchman’s head. Again, the referee missed it but following a post-match statement by Van Persie expressing his disgust at what Adebayor had done, the FA will be obliged to look into the incident.
Simply scoring against his former employees and enjoying a victory over them might have been enough for most professionals, but Adebayor capped a disgraceful afternoon by celebrating his goal with a sprint the length of the pitch to incite the Arsenal fans at the other end of the ground. Without wishing to excuse the reaction of the travelling fans either, it was inevitable that under such provocation there would be a response and as a consequence a steward was hospitalised following a melee that was caused by this needless incident. It was a wholly irresponsible act by a graceless player, particularly in the wake of the recent match between West Ham and Millwall in which a player’s goal celebrations hardly helped an already incendiary and poisonous atmosphere.
It will be interesting to see what action the FA takes over Adebayor. If Eduardo was worthy of a two-match ban from UEFA for merely deceiving an official, surely attempting to maliciously injure an opponent is a crime worthy of a far heavier punishment. Van Persie was fortunate that he only took a glancing blow from the studs of Adebayor’s boot. Had he been caught full-on, the injury he could have sustained does not bear thinking about. Adebayor’s post-match apologies for the goal celebration and the Van Persie assault rang very hollow and seemed little more than a shallow attempt to show some contrition ahead of the authorities looking at both incidents.
Any ban that Adebayor receives will be scant consolation for Arsenal though as they took nothing from a game that they really ought to have won. Much of the match was played at a frantic pace and in the first half it was end-to-end stuff for virtually the entire forty five minutes. The formation that the Gunners have used to good effect so far this season barely got a chance to structure itself as each team took turns in hitting the other on the break. Cesc Fabregas was caught too far up the pitch on too many occasions and as we saw when he played in an advanced role behind the strikers last season, this really hampered the amount of influence he had on the match. From a deeper role he could have dictated the pace and picked his passes out more shrewdly.
Despite the visitors holding most of the possession in the first period, it was City who went in ahead at the break courtesy of a strike that was adjudged to be a Manuel Almunia own goal when a Micah Richards header rebounded off the woodwork and then cannoned into the net off the back of the Spaniard’s head. It was an unfortunate way to go behind.
Arsenal looked far more purposeful at the start of the second half and, following a deluge of early pressure, drew level when Robin Van Persie hit a slide rule shot past Shay Given into the corner of the net. This was the point in the game where the Gunners should have kicked on to win the match. They had City on the ropes and needed to administer a knockout blow. Instead, they conceded a goal against the run of play by Craig Bellamy that handed the impetus back to the home team. As Arsenal’s defensive play began to lose its discipline and they tried to chase the game, City picked off the Gunners on the break and further goals were added by Adebayor and Wright-Phillips.
Tomas Rosicky marked his return to Premier League football with a consolation effort and the Gunners still might have taken something from the game late on as Abou Diaby had an effort cleared off the line and Van Persie hit the post. As it was, the match ended in disappointment for Arsenal.
The two trips to Manchester were seen as a litmus test as to whether this Arsenal team had raised its standards enough to be considered title contenders. It is fair to say that in both games they did show a good deal of improvement in their attitude, approach and the quality of their play. Question marks still hang over whether they are ruthless enough to kill off teams when they are in the ascendancy during matches. It was telling that, yesterday, both Chelsea and Manchester United were far from their best away from home but they still had the resilience to pull off victories. It is those sorts of habits that the Gunners really need to develop.
At the end of the season, no one is going to remember the hard-luck stories, the near misses and the injustices. All that will matter will be the points on the board. As improved as the team look this season, they have to add ruthlessness to their armoury if they are going to turn potential into trophies.

with Cesc looking to play such a deep role the team had less optins in attack and the russian out there was nothing out of the middle the passes never seem to go through in fact there was'nt one final pass in that game for the gunners.great to see the chec back he lokks sharp as ever positive things to come for this team.

These results from Manchester are important stock take for Arsenal's improvements. Alas, it is ain't enough for the Premiership and Europe. The last two matches exposed the frailities that both Arsenal and Arsene have failed to repair. It was clear. The team lacks the steel. No amount of fluid football can be successful without the steel required.
The first goal exposed the team's most crucial gap- in not having a world class goalkeeper. In my view Alumnia is unreliable and his sloppiness showed in both games. Where was the midfield cover for the defenders? Song was pathetic at times, in particular how easily he let Bellamy go past him for Ade's goal. Diaby was almost where he left off in Old Trafford. Fabregas was OMO most of the time and easily forgot about his captain's role. What was Bendtner doing in the field, except for his defensive blocking of Ade. We looked miserable, hopeless and pathetic. Tis the same last season. This team is not good enough, and that is so sad

I am sure Adebayor had earned the wrath of all Arsenal fans and even most neutral fans. He showed his immaturity on the field while he pursued his only goal - to humiliate Arsenal and prove a point. Well he did. He proved the correctness of the decision to sell him off. Can anyone imagine how such an immature player will unsettle the team spirit. Along with some of his best skills that showed, his worst came out too. Too bad, Arsenal had decided to let him celebrate at the end of the game, instead of opting to teach him a lesson. The attitude of the Arsenal player was not what is ideal for the team. Although they can be hailed for football friendliness to shake hands and hug, I think Adebayor does not deserve it. He had plotted to humiliate the team and he did. He had also intentionally hurt a team mate. That is not mark of a old friend. I don't think Scholes will hug Nicky Butt if he had done what Ade had done. That is the difference - warriors or diplomats, who do we need?

Arsenal should have had at least 2 and probably 4 points from the two games in Manchester. I believe we really haven't hit our stride yet this season - it's only been 4 games, we are 2 and 2 and certainly no reason to panic. Yes, Tottenham and Man City are providing additional competition so far, but Arsenal will be in the mix at the end and there are the Cups to look forward to as well. They'll be fine - Walcott, Nasri, Arshavin, Vela are all coming back soon. Before fans start blasting away about changes needed, they should have a little faith in the manager and the players. This isn't called the best league in the world for nothing - it's very tough to win, but it's a challenge every club would relish.

Beautiful football don't get you the 3 points, they only provide good entertainment, this kind of game might find success in other part of the world but definately not in PL.
Man City played very well, they deserve to win and they could have won by a bigger margin.
If this continues, Arsenal will find themselve in mid table team or even struggling for survival comes end of the season.
The rest of the PL teams have improve a hell lot, except Arsenal. Soon we have to call overselve Goners instead of Gunners.

What I can say from arsenal's defence team is they play to much in front then in defence. What I see at Gallas is, he focus more in front than his original position. All the counterattacks by opponent teams is the failure of our defence, not ready whenever there's an counterattack. Against MU and MC is because of defence is not there to cover vacant area due to counterattacks. No difference from season, most of the games arsenal lost is due to counterattacks. These area, is the weakest area in arsenal team. These area the coach and Mr.Wenger, need to improve these area. Arsenal players need to take long shots then playing skillful game in the box. My final words, I want arsenal to start winning from now and get all cups. Have a wonderful game to all arsenal players and walk tall.

ade deserved red...and there was a penalty for barry handball in the box...that would have turned the match in our favour...it was shocking to see ade so motivated, even in defense...this further proves that we need one dmf...we look so vulnerable on counters

It is sad to loose a game like that, the players were out of sync and were not playing with the whistle. Clinchi thought to have fouled Philips and the defenders too thought the same. when they realized that the ref was allowing play to continue,it was too late and Adebayo was all alone to score although his general character was wanting
These boys should learn to master two tricks, 1. play with the whistle and 2.play with the ball. The speed of the game was also very erratic. Diaby as usual was quite clumsy and should be on the bench. The Ref managed the match well except that our boys still do not know how to handle hard players, their body movement is easily predicted and they sleep on the ball. When your opponent is coming with a speed of a truck that has no breaks on a down hill, you just need to use that energy to your advantage. The crosses from the wings should be drilled not a looping trajectory, they should be bullet type shots which can end up anywhere or cause any trouble.

Ruthlessness is needed in front of goal. From now on it has to be boucebackbility only.We do not have have any other options especially after the two Manchester Trips. We cannot keep on talking about our near misses or how we dominated without winning.I know we can.Come on Gunner, we will get there. These two manchester lessons are enough for the season!!!

Beautiful football is again to be blamed, it might be successful in other part of the world but certainly not the premier league, if continue, Arsenal will find themselve in mid table or even struggling for survival at the end of the season.
Man City played very well, they have players who kills off the opponent, instead we have only entertainers.
We have to change the approach, play with more tenacities, be a club which strikes fear in the oppositions, not a whipping club.
Soon we'll have to change the name from Gunners to Goners.

Adebayor should be banned & fined heavily for his acts, I believe manager Mark Hughe being a gentleman is ashame to have such character in his squad. Full marks to AW for disposing him, a hipocrite & a bad influence to teammates. His unspeakable behaviour towards RVP & the visiting fans ought to be looked at seriously not only by the FA but also by Manchester City FC as well.

I don't have a phd in football but I do strongly think that we cannot play the same brand of football every week, every team is different, therefore the approach must not be the same, we must also be versatile enough to change tatic during play when opponent play is different from what is anticipated, this need not necessary be the manager's job, a captain with good command & control can be equally effective as well.
Arshavin style of play is refreshing, we need more of such players in the team.

It was a shameful goal celebration by Adebayor to his former club, who breed and made him a player to reckon with in the BPL no matter how he was treated by the Gunners towards the end of his stay with the Gunner.

This was a game Arsenal had no business losing. I want to believe that they still need a Viera like player in their midfield as they lost against City on account of their defensive inadequacies. They should not lose hope though as the season is still young. United and Liverpool have both lost games. City will never win this championship. This i know for sure.
Adverting to Adebayor, i can only say that the FA should give him the harshest of punishments for his lunge on Robin Van Persie. It was both vicious and malicious. The latter should thank God that he came out light. It could have been worse if Adebayor's studs had landed on his eyes. Adebayor remains a bad influence. It will not take time before he infects his colleagues in City. His records even in his native Togo are not good either. His attitude contributed in no small measure to the sack of their former Coach, Stephen Keshi, who mid wifed Togo's qualification to the World Cup in 2006. Need i speak more?

Ade's conduct was a big shame for all football lovers. There are so many players who left Arsenal in similar situation he left, but still show respect to the club's former mates and fans.
Ade is a useless character and MC will realize it soon. Who knew him before he joined AFC. He forgets there is a return match at Emirates
Two defeats in a row in manchester are too painful, but it's good to know our weaknesses as early as now.
Our main weakness is still failure to handle too physical games and the fact that our players are too lenient even when they are offended. We need to be a litle more bold especially the captain.
Keep the faith!

It's amazing how Adebayor has made Arsenal fans miss the point. the first goal was because of an increasing liability of a goal-keeper, and for the third and fourth goals, arsenal players were easily dispossessed. every mistake that was made, arsenal were made to pay. maximally. as soon as MC went to 4-4-2, the goals began to rain in. let the FA deal with Adebayor. as far as i'm concerned, the Gunners have much bigger things to worry about.

Can you imagine any leading club in Europe needs Almunia, Gallas, Clichy, Sagna to join them as competent defenders? Any second-rate football club would consider unexperienced DM like Song & Diaby? Is Wenger a talent or fool?
 |
Posted by stephen on 09/14/2009
I am extremely nervous. I don't think Diaby, Denilson, and Bendtner are players we can rely on. They don't have the stomach or the talent for the big games. We still have to face Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, and vila!
 |
Posted by Harlem Gooner on 09/14/2009
The loss was disappointing, but there are a few points we can take from it though:
1) Ade was most likely a disruptive player at Arsenal and selling him, while it's a shame we lost his talents, was the correct thing.
2) RvP is not a lone striker. He doesn't have the strength to bully defenses like a Didier Drogba or Thierry Henry can do. Plus, that makes several weeks in a row that he's hit the woodwork. Know what they call a shot that hits the wood? OFF TARGET. His finishing needs work.
3) Plain and simple, we are a creative team that needs its creative players at their best to really control a game. Diaby is not a consistent creative attacker, neither is Bendtner, RvP, Eboue, nor Denilson. And Fabregas can't do it alone. Rosicky, Eduardo, Arshavin, Nasri, and Walcott (to a lesser extent) are maestros of partnering with Cesc to create the Arsenal attack that embarrasses our competition. Don't see those names in the line-up? Be prepared for disappointment and a nervous 90 minutes.

I think mr wenger should stiil work on the defence cos this is the area where arsenal lacks, all the goals arsenal as consided this season are on a fastbreak and i still believe there is room for inprovement. And as for adebayo he is a big fool cos his attitude on saturday does not show a sign of professionalism.

Resilience. Resilience is obviously missing in the team. When things don't turn out like bed of roses, the boys need resilience to remain strong. When the opponents shut the door tight in front of goal, the boys need the resilience to try harder and be sharper. When they are a goal down when they are supposed to dominate, they need resilience to be unruffled in playing the game. When they lose to a team after a fine run, they need resilience not to let it continue for the next match. The manager should do soul searching and built the resilience in the team, correcting the errors that had led to defeat. Chelsea has it, Man U has it and Liverpool has some of it. That is why they win matches they sometimes don't deserve to win. And they always come back stronger. Resilience is the mantra and hope Arsenal can have it soon.

first of all i do not agree with the fans saying that arsenal arent good enough, i have3 been an arsenal fan for many many years (i live in a small island call grenada in the caribbean where sadly most people support either manchester united or chelsea) but personally i think this present team has shown me even in defeat that they are indeed capable of playing with the big boys and when you look at the average age of this team i think we will see them grow before the end of the season and i definetly think they will be there in the top three hopefully ontop when the end of the season arrives.
lets not forget we have 4 starters coming back soon from injury along with a super sub.
and all of this without including the fact that the most exciting young footballer in england right now(wiltshere) cannot even make it out onto the feild as yet for us be patient gunners! be patient!

I can see here that Gallas and Vermalen looks like to hero on font of opponent goal. I hope wenger notice about this. This was happen now and pls dont let this happen in the next games.
One more thing, like another teams, they planned buy a good skill player compare with Arsenal now I dont see a star player here.

have already indivicate him. Ironically ade scored a header in the match not through his "feet of Devil" by which the one apparently maliously stamped on rvp' face hopefully,FA have the final saying he should have been getting a punisnment in the wake of ongoing verdict of which being jutified in avoiding the improper conducts something like provocation.grudge happened once again

however the loose of the two big games we have not yet let the cat out of the basket, its time Wenger polished up the team and set the pace...
also wenger should put in consideration signing a midfielder who is capable of supplying our strikers effitiently... it was very good, skilled play for Rosisky against man city and also they were un able to cope with the tremendous change and speed that was brought in by him. not to forget it rather a good start than the race against time pliz impose a strong starting line up and substitute afterwards for team balancing......

Arsenal seemingly never learns from the previous years efforts, they need to buy a defensive midfielder with some bite. Melo would have made an incredible signing, however he went to juventus. Nonetheless Arsenal fans will be made to suffer another season of what might be as opposed to what should be.

Enough said about Adebayor. Its just makes me angry thinking about all his actions and what he said bout arsenal. Ungrateful #@*!.
Back to the game itself. Looking at our performance against City last Saturday, it shows that our team is lacking the creativity in the first half. Our attacking was poor and we have given out too many bad passes. The injection of creativity only came in when Rosicsky came into play in 2nd half, but then, our defence was again poor and this time it causes us to loose 3 points in this game. I believe if City did not concede the 2nd goal, Arsenal could have gone home with 3 points. We were caught offguard too many time. Diaby was horrible, Song was pathetic so was Clichy. I really think that Wenger should seriously look into improving this area if we are to challenge for Champion League spot. Our deffence are nowhere as good as teams like ManU or Chelsea.

Gunners need to be more agressive, move the ball a bit faster and strike more often outside the box. Look at Arshavan strike at ManU,everybody knows that Arsenal like to take the ball right into the goal, but when they strike from outside the oponent are always caught by surprise which most times results in a goal.Come on GUNNERS lets show them who we are.

I can't stand bias and myopic views. FYI, I am an Arsenal fan but I still watch other teams' games on the TV. I pass judgement on bad tackles too even if they were on a Man Utd/Chelsea/Spurs etc player. What Adebayor did was unprofessional and totally disgraceful. There is no place in football for such malicious acts. People may say RVP had slid in with a bad tackle (I agree) but Adebayor's actions should not be condoned. I can imagine all the anti-Arsenal fans crying foul play if that would have happened to your Rooneys or Terrys etc. As for the celebration, if players in the past have been charged for insinuating the fans, why should he be treated any different? He ran the length of the pitch! Just because the fans abuse you, you don't have to do that (Though I would rather the fans not have reacted the way they did). There are many footballers who have overcome abuse from fans without resorting to such classless acts.
 |
Posted by Muqqy - SG on 09/15/2009
Akinyemi, many Gunners would have already told you we loss the match due to not being able to make full use of our possession. We dominated possession for most of the game but just fired blanks. Wonder why an anti-Arsenal man such as yourself would troll such sites knowing these articles are written by an Arsenal correspondent. Nobody made excuses that we lost because Adebayor was a brat. Basically you're telling everyone that had Arsenal won the game, his acts would go unpunished? Anyways, too much intricate football might be blamed for our loss. Nevertheless, I still put my faith into the team and Arsene Wenger. We need our players to take a page from Eduardo's books and score the easy goals as well as the pretty ones. I totally agree with the author. We need to be ruthless! Bring the game to the opponent! Come on Gunners!

i really hope that wenger will do something about it.. my opinion is to put a few players especially bendtner and Aboe Diaby in the bentch always unless someone died on the field. Vela and Ramsey should play more often..
Thank god rosicky is back and can't wait for walcott back in action.

The team is playing good football, but needs to be ruthless infront of goal. Dont play too many back passes. Always be on the alert for counter attacks. There is lack of hunger for goals and fighting spirit. Whenever we lose the ball, everyone must be behind the ball and mark. The boys need to be told to keep their cool when the going gets tough or when the enemy gets rough

i can remember watching the emirates cup match against atletico madrid after we went ahead it took them less than two minutes 2 get an equalizer i felt sad and disappointed because right there and then i just knew that will struggle just like last season or even worse becos i remember d game at anfield where liverpool came from behind thrice to get a draw even though one can argue that we did not deserve to win u cannot help but say that if the reverse was the case we would hav lost not to talk of the chelsea and manutd leading u with 2mins to go u just knw that the game is over but look the amount of matches where we took the lead last season and either drew or lost spurs, hull city, liverpool home & away, middlesborough, aston villa, chelsea(FA cup) and so on. looking at the present crop of players u can not help but conclude that another trophyless season looms ahead or if not worse arsene has failed to add wot was missin in the squad last season and its very sad

what arsenal should be concerned about is that man city did play well took all that arsenal gave them and still came out on top. Arsenal back four were caught out also proved they lack height at set plays something h rednapp will have notice expect to see crouch when they play spurs. If arsenal are going to stay in top four they will have find away to win against reams like man city unless they do they will finish out off top fourthen will not be able to hold on to theretop players worrying times ahead.

Remember what David wrote previously in Arsenal facing a testing start to the season: "it is absolutely imperative that this group of players now prove themselves to be genuine contenders for the title rather than just making up the numbers behind the main protagonists. Consequently, the first month of this season could turn out to be as crucial as the last for the Gunners." Fast forward one month later. What do you think? I would love to think and to be proven otherwise. But as reality sinks it is indeed the harsh facts that the players have not put enough. It is Sep and lets not waste the airtime talking about buying players. It is now down to players that we have and how tactics and team management can bring success. The Manager needs to make changes. I think that even blooding the reserve players like Ramsey, Wilshere and reserve goalkeeper will bring better returns.

Pls AW, bring in some new experienced players during January transfer windows. don't keep the $40 million in ur pocket. u need to invest it to build the team for the sake of the gunners.
pls buy:
1. world class goalkeeper
2. world class centre back
3. world class defencive midfielder
4. world class striker (finisher)
if u do not do something AW, never dreaming to be the epl champion or playing in europe again!!!!!!!!!!

Bendtner is a joke. Almunia is a liability. Bendtner is a joke. Diaby is at best mediocre. Bendtner is a joke. Sagna is mechanical. Bendtner is a joke. Fabregas seems like he cant wait to leave. Bendtner is a joke. RvP is about to peak. Bendtner is a joke. Denilson is unpredictable. Bendtner is a joke. Song just had a bad game. Bendtner is a joke. Eduardo didnt have enough time. Bendtner is a joke. Roscisky is back. Bendtner will always be a joke.

Adebayor has bitten more than he can chew...

Posted by vt on 09/16/2009
forget about Ade; he's gone and does not worth talking about him any more.
Arsene needs to drop 3 players : Alumunia, Diaby and Eboue. they only help the opponents. Alumunia concedes goals too easily - Van Der Sar or Cech never give goals away as easy.
Diaby, apart from giving balls away, running into opponents, what else can he do ? how many times he can manage a good pass to his fellows ? he pass the balls to opponents more than passing to his teammates.
Eboue, so good at diving that he forgets how to play. he falls down so easily and when the ref waves play on, he put the defense in deep trouble.
when Wenger plays them together, it is poor 8 Arsenal players Vs 14 opponents.

I agree 120% with Bongani, why the hell is Bendtner doing in these games, he showed potential more than 3 years ago and that was it. now even thru his pathetic displays, he is still getting gametime. Have we swooped so low as to paying attention to Bentner when before we talked of such great striker such as Henry, Bergkamp, Anelka, Wright just to name a few. Someone please tell me what Wenger is thinking, could this be a sign of old age and the stubborness that comes with it. Enough of Bendtner. We need a Re - Vamp, this is a champions league club playing with championship players such as Bendtner. We really should stop thinking about Ade and look at ourselves, PERIOD

Arsenal is sending too many long balls from the flanks. Not that it is in "hoping" passes without pinpointing the good Arsenal players who are good headers themselves.
In the past, Arsenal play fast football that deliver passes on the ground from the flanks with players running in front of the defenders inside the box to win the ball. This tactic will always cause fear and panic and in a good striker, he will always have good awareness to strike.
At this moment, the midfield do look need more steel. Diaby needs to provide more cover for the defense without roaming too far out. In a game where both teams look to counter, Diaby should look to strike if he knows that there is good coverage at the back. Recently, he roams too far front.
Fabregas needs more space. I think he can really pass well if given the space he needs. So Arsene needs to decide which position can Fab plays to his potential.
Arsenal really have a good batch of strikers at the moment, including Bendtner.

If the defense doesnt get any better then it will be a repeat of last season. Already 8 goals have have gone in. You cant win titles leaking at the back. Arsenal need a strong defensive midfielder and a central defender. until then they will struggle and lose those close games that gives you silverware.

We have a great wealth of players in the first team and that is undisputed. What we need is depth, importantly with an innovative touch, a more pragamatic dimension and above all substantial experience.

WE MUST GIVE ADEBAYOR LESSON WHEN HE CAME PLAY AT THE EMIRATES....
GIVE HIM A "NICE" WELCOME....
LETS ARRANGE IT FROM NOW SO WE CAN GIVE HIM "GOOD SUPPORT"

Stop blaming Adebayor;he has a point and he has proved it.Arsenals fans have been so unfair to him.they have done worst things to oppress, humilate, provoke and demoralise him.i know if arsenal had won the game the story will be different from wat all you player haters are writting.Though am not a City, critising Adebayor will not make Arsenal a better team this season, wenger should go and sit up cos i know arsenal had scored all the goals they needed this season in there first two matches played.if i were you.gunners are gone this season......

You could not have nailed it more with this piece. I'm astounded how we could have played so well and yet lost!! We need to be ruthless and convert more of our chances..

i find the notion that it is adebayor's fault that a stewart got injured appalling.
a very similar thing happened when henry scored ,then went and slid in front of spurs fans to celebrate. everyone flipped him off and told him to do one, but nobody through banana peels (disgusting) or stormed the front of the stands in a mock attempt at acting tough.
The stamp was dirty, but it makes no sense to me that a player should be judged based on the crowd's reaction. the arsenal supporters acted like complete idiot lunatics. half of the fun of going to a live game, and singing songs that the players can hear, is to entice a reaction. its up to us as fans not to act violently.

While I will not remotely defend Adebayor over his retaliation on RVP's two footed tackle but the Arsenal fans who were present at COMS need to take responsibility for their behavior as well. Adebayor's actions, while indeed irresponsible and perhaps classless were no more so than Arsenal's away support. Its one thing to provoke and taunt a player, quite another to literally and racially abuse him for 90 minutes as Harry Rednapp and Gareth Southgate have correctly pointed out. Arsenal fans lost all right to be offended when they went on the offensive (and thats being charitable: calling a player's mom "a whore", his father "washes elephants"). And let's look at his oh so "provocative" response. He ran the length of the pitch, slid on his knees and raised his hands in triumph. Unprofessional? absolutely. But for Mr. Young to imply that Arsenal's fans were provoked is equally irresponsible. Adebayor should be, and will be punished. But Arseanal's fans should be as well.

Once Walcott, Nasri, Arshavin, and Vela return.. i have faith we will challenge for the tittle...
Bendtner cant handle big games, Diaby loses the ball too easily, and Song is erratic at times, plays a good game, then a bad game .etc etc.

I think Adebayor is not the reason of us not wining the game, we need to buy matured players, experienced players,we need guys who're strong, Arsenal needs Cups now we need to win all our games, we need to win win win win win win win, and please my dear manager Mr. Arsen Wenger stop salling our players, look at Anelka,Cole,Toure and others all those guys are still strong, they are still doing aperfect job in their Clubs now. Please i like my club we need wins at any cost, clean football does not win.thank you.

Modupe, we're Gunners supporter, we will always be.The conclusion is Adebayor is an IDIOT regardless of the outcome of the match.
Even if Ade is a very talented footballer, I'm sure AW will also get rid of him, simply because there is no place for an IDIOT in Arsenal FC.
Man City will find him a problem soon.

i feel ashamed if we can give out a village class footballer adebayor.God bless wenger and his platoon with the boldness to takle rabels and win matches.keep up cech we ve got talent and feet to play and win.lets look for total points in the coming matches quik recoveries to the injured triggers.Arsenal lets go.

I think we spent too much money on a stadium. Its like having a swiss savings account without any money. Whats the use? At that time we knew Henry was due for a move, we persisted with more youth (not saying its bad), sold abe and toure and got no one to fill the gap. Fabregas is next to go, our keepers are not EPL worthy, our defense wobble when opposition attacks, fabregas has no supporting player, persie plays a good match and quiet for the next 3 games, and we seem to not have a striker, seriously who is/are our striker? We desperately need atleast 4 new players.

Posted by Abdul Nyuda on 09/17/2009
To be honest, Wenger need to buy more defencive players. this is because there are only two (Gallas and Thomas) players who are competitive. so what if one of these two get injured? its will be a big blow to Arsenal. Another thing Wenger needs to improve his players to avoid silly mistake. E.g. Bendtner is good player but he used to lost ball in silly way-he give the blind pass without looking to whom to give ball to.

4-2. Yet Arsenal should have won the game? It seems as though everytime Arsenal is defeated, they "should have won the game." If that's the case, they should have scored 3 more goals and won the game! Accept that the last 2 times you've come to COMS, you've been trounced. The fact renmains, City is tighter at the back than you lot. Playing prettier does not always mean playing better.

RVP was no saint, he went in two-footed on Adebayor with malicious intention and if he had connected he could have broken Adebayor's leg and Arsenal fans would have been happy. That is not to excuse Ade's reaction.
As for the celebration, that was the best pay back for the fans behavior and taunts. They derided him all week. However it was a great match and Arsenal got punished for their usual profligacy.

Sour losers, so what if he is a professional and earns soo much money!!! It was all well and dandy when your fans were hauling insults and your players were coming hard at him. Now you feel slighted when he scores and sticks it to you. I will never approve of what he did to RVP, but the goal celebration, you lot deserve that one. If you can dish it; then you should be able to eat it...

If arsenal are to win trophies, they have to search for a sharp sriker. This is the only means which they can achieve success. Because if Arsene Wenger should depend on players like Bentner and Diaby who attack at a snail speed, honestly they will never make headway this season
 |
Posted by Soji on 09/18/2009
Arsene Wenger should vary his tactics; he has become too predictable. There's no room for excuse this year; Afterall, his boys should be of age by now. The fans are thirsty for honours, otherwise he'll be termed an expired coach and should be ready to return home.

Hi,it's unnecessary to discuss about adebayor. We should not talk about it over and over and wasting energies. It's there that he's banned for some matches, and that's it, he deserved it.It's more important to see how arsenal didn't win anything in the last few years.and how they way they lose against MU and MC.There's something wrong in the club.I don't agree to say that Arsene Wenger has done something good. Lose is a lose. And he's just making excuse for every failure he made.

Ade as a matter of fact was wrong with what he did. As a professional player with much integrity, he could have used the best way forward to ashame Arsenal fans. The stamp against former team-mate RVP was uncredential and the ban justifies the mean! Ade, use your second thought as we the gunners are people of respect and a forward driven motive.

we have complained too much about the selection of the team.DO THE MANAGER REALLY HAVE TIME TO READ THIS.pls someone answer me.bendtner always starting and making mistakes .i think he should play reserve team and carling cup.the keeper over rates him self and always cought flat foot.the goal aganist man city surely where was he standing .rosiscky is back eduardo.use them .THIS boys think they are magicians they are experimenting in the field doing hard work and getting nothing .DIABY has been there for a long time i do not know what he wants to do with ball keeping it to loose he is a liability.gallas is more a stricker than a defender.he thinks there are no strikers goes forward the what happens we are scored.WENGER pls remind him his no.OR SHOULD WE CHAGE THE MANAGER.WINNING WITH THAT TEAM IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE.WE FANS ARE THERE FOR ANOTHER BAD SEASON IF NOTHING IS DONE
