After another highly frustrating nil-nil home draw on Saturday, nothing less than a win was required at West Brom on Tuesday night and, thanks to two goals from Nicklas Bendtner and one from Kolo Toure, a win was what Arsenal got.
It is a victory that heaps pressure onto Aston Villa ahead of their fixture at Manchester City on Wednesday night and was just what the doctor ordered after four successive goalless draws in the Premier League.
Last Saturday, Fulham came to Ashburton Grove and gave the Gunners a really stiff examination. On balance, the visitors were arguably the better team over the ninety minutes. That said, Arsenal had chances to win the match but, such has been the recent lack of belief in front of goal, a decisive strike never really looked like coming.
This performance was even worse than the one the home supporters had to endure against Sunderland the previous Saturday and it was not really much of a surprise to hear a chorus of boos ring around the stadium at the final whistle.
On Saturday evening, any chances the Gunners had of finishing in the top four seemed to be hanging by a thread. The thread wore down to mere fibres on Sunday afternoon as Aston Villa looked to be easing towards a two-nil victory over Stoke with only two minutes remaining at Villa Park. Then, miraculously, the Potters scored twice before the final whistle to draw the match and what had looked like a certain three points for the Villains was suddenly cut to one.
Arsenal had been thrown a very unlikely lifeline. Instead of being eight points behind Villa they were now only six and with the Midlands team facing a tricky run of fixtures over the next few weeks, including away trips to Man Utd and Liverpool, suddenly a glimmer of hope appeared for Arsenal.
Stoke's late-show on Sunday would only have been any use to Arsenal if they could beat bottom club West Brom at the Hawthorns on Tuesday. They got off to a fabulous start when Nicklas Bendtner cut in from the right and hit a bobbling shot through the crowded defence into the far corner of the net. The lead was surrendered only a few moments later when some poor Arsenal defending at a freekick allowed the Baggies an equaliser.
A healthy advantage was restored before the break when, first, a completely unmarked Kolo Toure got on the end of an Andrey Arshavin freekick to head the Gunners back into the lead and, then, Bendtner then made it 3-1 going into the break when he beat a quite hopeless West Brom offside trap and, clean through, fired home a fierce shot from the right-hand side of the penalty area.
The second half was more sedate in pace but Bendtner proved to be Arsenal's man of the match by providing Arshavin with two excellent openings that the Russian was unable to finish. The big Dane also hit the post, depriving him of what would have been a well-earned hat-trick. It was a great evening for him. He has his critics amongst the Arsenal crowd even though there are many more candidates in this current squad far more deserving of a hard time from supporters. Tonight though, he answered many of the naysayers and the travelling Arsenal support sang his name throughout the second half.
Nicklas Bendtner is a young player who is not short of self-belief and it is unlikely that he is remotely bothered by those members of the Ashburton Grove crowd that slate his every error. Though even he must have been pleased to have taken the opportunity, not only to inspire a vital Arsenal win, but also to shut a few of his detractors up.
The fact is that he is a very young player who is still learning the game and he has to learn those lessons in an Arsenal team which has struggled by its own high standards this season. Despite that, Bendtner has shown enough good play and scored enough goals to be deserving of the crowd's patience. He can occasionally look ungainly and, like every other player, he does make mistakes but it is very clear that he is a hugely talented footballer who will develop further over the next few seasons if he continues to get chances in the first-team.
The Gunners take a break from the Premier League and get back to business in the FA Cup this weekend as they take on Burnley in the delayed Fifth Round tie. With a home tie against Hull City awaiting the victor in the next round, both teams know what their reward for winning will be. If that wasn't incentive enough, exacting some revenge for exiting the Carling Cup at the hands of Burnley ought to be sufficient motivation for Arsenal.
This competition represents the Gunners best chance of silverware this season. So it is absolutely vital that they approach the game with the right attitude because one can be sure the visitors will be trying for their lives to achieve an unlikely Cup double.

I have been an Arsenal fan from the Philippines long before I visited England in 2005. I strongly feel that Arsenal can still reach the top 4 slots before the end of the seasonl.
Go go Gunners.

Tt was indeed a refreshing win for us last night, but let's not get too overly elated by the win and get our hopes too high.
As supporters, we might have been demanding too much from Arsenal which resulted in boos. The lesser pressure the team gets, the more they might produce.
Goals from Bendther has long been overdue. To score 2 goals, be it against lesser oppposition of top-notch clubs, is definitely a boon as long as we win. However, his previous performances have suggested he is unable to keep up this sort of performance, hence 1 reason why I think we should not get our hopes too high. His self-confidence breaches onto a huge-inflated ego which needs to be addressed. Pink boots, arsenal's No 1 striker, should be playing every minute. Where are the statistics?
Lets not delude ourselves. We are still playing catch-up to Villa. We shld just focus on our matches to come and win. Its a bonus if they fumble. Don't get our hopes too high once again. Beggars can't be choosers now

I am a die hard arsenal supporter and it was a big relief to finally win after so many draws. I stronghly believe that forth place is very achievable after we stopped leaking goals at the back. Also with some previously injured players about to join the team, our chances are great. Let all our supporters keep faith in the team.

I am so happy for the win but even though bentdoy scored twice i still think he shouldnt be starting over rvp as rvp could have scored just the same i think rvp desereves better treatment as he was the only one who carried the side in jnuary so two or three bad games shouldnt cause him to be sitting on the bench watching someone like bentboy with his inflated ego play

I BELIEVE THE TRIO OF BENDTNER, SONG AND DENILSON ARE TOO YOUNG AND AMATEURISH FOR REGULAR FIRST TEAM SHIRTS THAT THEY ARE GETTING FROM ARSENAL.
WITH DIABY AND EBUE ALSO SHAKY, I THINK ARSENAL COULD STILL DO WITH SOME SHOPPING.
BUT MAY I ASK, WHY SELL FLAMINI AND HLEB ONLY TO BUY ASHAVIN AT SUCH A REPORTEDLY HUGE PRICE?
THIS SEASON IS GONE AGAIN - NO TROPHY. BUT THE LESSONS ARE CLEAR, WE MUST RETAIN OUR BEST MEN IF WE ARE TO WIN ANY TROPHY NEXT SEASON. WE MUST ALSO DEEPEN OUR BENCH.
I HAVE IMPLICIT CONFIDENCE IN WENGER BUT HE NEEDS TO REVIEW HIS POLICIES. HE SHOULD REMEMBER THAT THE TEAM WAS NOT MADE UP OF TEENAGERS WHEN WE WON THOSE TROPHIES IN THE PAST.
THERE IS A LIMIT TO WHAT THESE YOUNG GOONS CAN DO - TAKE US TO LEAGUE TOP FOUR EVERY YEAR, GET A CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SLOT AND NEVER REALLY WIN ANYTHING. HOW LONG CAN WE ENDURE THIS?
UP GUNNERS WE MUST RISE TO THE CHALLENGE OF N0T ALLOWING UNITED TO SWEEP ALL THE STAKES WHILE WE RUE THE OUR INABILITY TO SCORE GOALS.

It was a HUGE relief to see them winning again, lets hope we can maintain it, I do have to say I agree with Joe, Bendnter has brought his own criticism by coming out and saying I should be no.1 etc etc, if your good enough Wenger will no doubt play you so no need for insecurities and having to bull yourself up. My own personal belief is Bendtner would be one of these awesome Championship strikers where he gets the time like against West Brom but in the prem where touch is everything he is slightly too heavy and I dont think he can cut it.
But lets hope with the players returning we can gain 4th (that is the best we can hope for) and BUILD for next season although I am fearful that we will do our masterstroke of letting Fab, RVP and the likes go, but and this is a BIG but... if they do go we could get 30mil plus for those 2 alone what about Tevez as replacement??? just a thought!!!!

As a die hard gooner myself, i think that we have been giving up too many points to the weaker team. Our young goon may be good but they are still not up there yet, they lack the composure to fnish the game. I pray for us to at least finish in top 4 this season and when Fab and the rest of the injured players return I hope to see us challenging the rest for the title again. Cheers.

I have been an Arsenal supporter from 1983 when my family lived in Hendon, London. I have watched the team grow into a world class outfit. We have become so used to success in the recent past that for many this seasons setbacks have given us so many anxious moments.
However, despite the many injuries and the relative youth of the team, it is reassuring that we can still talk of being in the top five and looking to finish in the top four. For a young team that has endured so much bad luck with the many injuries I still see that there is a lot to look out for this seasons now that the Gunner are coming back in big numbers from the treatment room.
I am also sure that we will finish as the team with the most momentum at the end of the season. The managing team should build on that for a full title challenge next season.
Go Gunners, we can do it!

Look - stop running the team, the manager and the players down. Its nice to win, ask any Man U fan. But, how much has Fergie got tied up in players. It might have been cheaper to buy the trophies rather than win them. they still owe a pile of money to their shareholders and the bank. Arsenal have been prudent and resposible. Players like Henry, Hleb, Flamini etc. wanted to leave so stop belating "If only." If those guys wanted to stay, they would have.Ask Fabregas. Consider that Arsenal are still in the two competitions that count, and not badly placed in the league. They have most of the top guys due back in the next few weeks and despite what is said about the current squad, they are doing great. Its their bad luck that they have encountered some outstanding goalkeeping. The first poor goalie they encountered - bang . . 3 goals. So, remind me, what is the gripe? If you were a West Brom fan - now they got something to complain about.

I agree completely with Gilbert. I grew up on the North Bank at Highbury and went to my first Arsenal match in 1966 vs West Ham. I've been in the USA now since 1978. This current team has endured a ton of bad luck, both in front of goal and on the treatment table. But, they are still challenging for 4th in the best league division in the world, still in with a good chance of advancing in the CL, and have a great chance of lifting the FA Cup still this season - not too bad! I also predict we will finish with a flourish and there are lots of good signs to build on for next year, as long as we keep everyone. I would play certain players in slightly different positions though (e.g. Eboue as reserve right back, Nasri in the middle with Cesc, etc.).

In basketball terms the past week has resulted in a six point swing. The difference of potentially being down by seven to nine points and now being down three with ten games or so left. Realistically, if Arsenal fail to qualify for CL it's a melt down historic proportions. Not even considering they will be getting the best player on their team back in a couple three weeks. Just in time for an extended champions league run. I think if Arsenal are to progress they need to outscore La Magica away. We had a good run of form in league of clean sheets but thats not exactly CL. Funny how this season has went. Wenger has shown he can keep a team this young in the hunt for CL but that in itself won't satisfy true Gooners. You get greedy when you win league.

blah blah blah biggest arsenal fan ever blah blah blah. anyways... denilson is for real, so whoiever out there decides to call him too young and immature, shut up! Secondly, Bendtner is getting there. While he would not be getting these kind of minutes on a full squad with ade' and vp, he is still a satisfiable substitute for emmanuel. also, now that villa lost and has a less goal differential than us, there is almost no chance of their top 4 survival. we play blackburn and newcastle this month while they have yet to play a hotstreaking hotspurs team and a still impressive pudlian team. the gunners will soon have everything that it takes to gain at least 3pts on villa, and i can't wait for the champions league to begin.

Arsenal are still young.. our players are still growing.. it's amazing we are in 5th place.. and we will make 4th place..
But for those haters that always say.. why sellf flamini and why sell hleb... arsenal didnt sell them.. flamini left because his contract had expired and wanted to play for Milan and Hleb wanted to leave for Barca, becaue he suddenly realsied he was an awesome player.
The reason why we spent so much money on Arshavin was because we needed leadership for the young players and he has got the quality to adapt to Arsenal's play..
Stop hating your own team and Wenger, he knows what he is doing.. you'll see in the seasons to come..........

Arsenal are lucky that the Laursen injury and Villa's thin squad are starting to gradually derail their champions league aspirations. On the basis of the season Villa have been the more deserving team, and for an organization with limited resources they have done very well regardless. I will be rooting for them for the rest of the season to pip Arsenal despite their recent misfortunes.

I agree with many of the authors comments except one. Bendtner will never be a striker of sufficient talent to warrant an Arsenal shirt. He scored a few against woeful opposition, but that does not hide the fact that he has no first touch, no poise under pressure and a very poor finishing record. Let him go practice somewhere else!

In my own opinion, Wenger has done well. I agree with some of the comments above on the fact that Arsenal has experienced lots of injuries and has been unlucky infront of goal and with their relatively young players, they still found themselves in the fifth position and are still challenging for the fourth position. Kudos to them. Lets just hope that Wenger will shop for another C/defender and D/midfielder next season only if the fund is released to him b/c the whole thing depends on the board. When they say they released money to wenger, Wenger will not see the money and will still go ahead to defend them by appearing stuborn as if he is the one who doesn't want to buy players. One fact remains that he is a good manager of people and resources being an economist. I wish him well.

I have come to realize that they is no better term in the world than Arsenal, people forget to understand that this so big terms owe more than they can bargain for. Arsenal is living within its resources, what’s hard there to understand. Wenger is been hunted everywhere in the world, we should be grateful for having him as our own. I love that my with passion, he is the most spoken managers I have ever seen, giving positive assurance to both club and supporters.
Please lets give them a chance, go gunners, lv u

Bendtner has scored his fair share of goals this year and has picked up the slack since getting a consistent run of games with Ade out. However I think the main problem is that out of all the forward Bendtner has the least pace and at times the least willing to win the ball. His last 5 games have seen him harassing defences to provide opportunities for himself or others and finally finding a quick tempo in the final third but before that he was losing the ball too easily, trying to stampede defences and most importantly failing to chase the lost cause. Thats where the frustration came from as he obviously knows how to talk the talk but when we were losing to the likes of Stoke he wasnt putting the work in. Eboue however is dead wood after the spurs game and needs to go, thank god for Theo!

It's a good and timely win againt WBA. But the job is still not done yet. Remember Arsenal, like Villa, also has to play away against MU and Liverpool. But this win is a huge confidence booster.

I'm not a gooner, in fact, I loath the Arse, which will make my following point somewhat less reputable (but I still think it's valid). I think it is remarkably...what's the right word...funny...sad...pathetic...that you're all so excited and relieved to have won a game against West Brom. How can you seriously entertain thoughts of the Champions League with expectations like that? I'd say you're more likely to fall to 6th than to climb to 4th...and if you're honest with yourself, you feel the same way. The game has passed Wenger by, and you're young players are good but not great. You'll never win another trophy with the current crop of players...but you keep trying.

Posted by flashmeterred on 03/06/2009
i think bendtner could be a world class striker. hes got the footskills, and the height and heading ability (maybe slightly low on pace), but hes not goal hungry enough. hes got to be willing to get whatever he can behind a ball and put it over the line. i keep seeing crosses get just past his foot, or a weak shot at the keeper when 1 on 1. ultimately critics look at stats - and a striker with 20+ league goals (no matter how ugly they might look) doesn't get criticised for it.
that said - a lot of arsenal boys could benefit from it. atleast asharvin looks like he has about the right amount of goal hog in him.

Arsenal might just make the top four at the end of the season, the best chance of silver ware is the FA cup. If they get past q/final in CL anything could happen. Hopefully with Eduardo, Walcot and Fab coming back, I hope there game should step up so that they get back to winning ways.

Lets loook at the big picture we are getting excited about finishing 4th . Wenger needs to make an statement at seasons end as to whether he intends to win the league again or just continue falling short spend some money three key players midfielder, center back and striker i'm talking top class . I'm tired of seeing less talented coaches winning trophies because they realise the depth needed to win trophies .

i have always told guys that arsenal is not a bad team, for the record iam a utd supporter but i do talk football when the situation permits it.
like a lot of guys, i can accept the talk of young players, lack of experience and all crap. but to me,i think arsenal have been simply unlucky. i mean have u guys watched the matches?
i mean don't think im a snob but how many easy chances have arsenal missed in the drawn games and don't tell me its about composure, character or anything.i mean these have been clear cut chances and they some how hit the post or accidentally intercepted by the keeper.have those into goals which was most likely to happen depending on how they controlled all those games, and u would have them contending for the league.
what fans don't understand is that there are times when things don't work out,I've seen bad runs for united with nothing to explain it.
i think they miss fabregas, the team rotated on him.i also feel they are too big a team to finish below A villa
 |
Posted by faris on 03/06/2009
i was wondering how Aston villa were winning their matches, then i began watching them. i realized that though they where pathetic in their play, i mean they barely play the ball on the ground but i saw that they had a well coordinated back line, a street talented goal hungry attack line who didn't care how they scored as long as they did.
although they were winning matches, i couldn't bring myself to bet ma money on them and so were a lot of people. lets face it,Aston villa was having a spree of good luck as arsenal was having a bad share of it at the other end.
i don't think or believe villa have what it takes in the last games to finish above arsenal.
i do accept villa has good qualities in that team but it too has limits and personally i think they've been lucky. i somehow believe they will go on to loose a string of matches towards the finishing line. big teams believe it or not always finish strongly. mark my words,
for the record,im a utd supporter . reply me for criticism.

Arsenal are still going strong in 3 competitions. While we will not take the premiership this year, a 4th or 3rd spot is there for the taking. We have a good chance in the FA Cup; get by Burnley and Hull and then two more wins gets a trophy. The CL is attainable also; get by Roma in mid-week and look for a good draw a week Friday (20/03/09). Maybe we get the Villarreal - Panathinaikos winner or the Atlético - Porto winner in the QFs, and then it would be not too far to glory in Rome!

Arsenal will be in the top 4.
These current crops of arsenal players are definitely the best they ever had. AND i genuinely believe in THEM. VELA, WILSHERE, RAMSEY, plus the likes of WALCOTT, CESC, RVP, ARSHAVIN, NASRI, CLICHY, SAGNA are still in their 'tender' age. IF they stick together plus one or two new signings, I would like to see them EMULATE the INVINCIBLES.
Many are 'cursing' Arsenal of letting players like flamini, hleb, etc go, but hey, who would want to have unhappy players in their squad. BUT look back, who have played better than they did at Arsenal, since they move on? ANYONE? not even TH14. AND oh FLAMINI & HLEB are not playing regularly, ARE they? poor chaps.
Have faith in WENGER, he 'manufactured' Arsenal's move from HIGHBURY to ASHBURTON by how he buy in the cheap and make millions back. YET they consistently stay in the TOP FOUR playing some breathtaking football.
Just one thing: they should pull the trigger more often.
GO GUNNERS!!! peace.

One word has summed up this Arsenal season: injury. If you look at Man U, their form at the beginning of the season was not very good (Ronaldo was not in the lineup). Chelsea's fortunes has also been affected by the health of Ricardo Carvalho. Liverpool's season with Gerrard and Torres. There's always an infuential player(s) in everyside that the team is not the same without. Arsenal have been without Cesc for a prolonged period now. They do not have the game changer that showed a lot of promise at the beginning of the season (Walcott) and hence the dip in form of the team.
I do think, however, that Arsenal is lacking a "match-winner". Something that Lampard, Gerrard/Torres, Ronaldo are for their respective clubs. Perhaps with the return of Eduardo, a signing is not necessary, but alas, I think that some funds should be spent this offseason looking for that "match-winner".

As a gooner i believe that with the likes of fabregas, rosicky and eduardo coming back we have the players to mount a challenge to win something this season. Arsenal is over-achieving in 2009.
Look at the changes in midfield between 2008 & 09. Gone Flamini and Hleb, Rosicky had not played at all, and Fabregas is out.
What have we got in 09 ?
Diaby and Eboue are the two destructive powers (unfortunately, destructive to Gunners only), Nasri is new, Denilson cannot pass balls, Song & Ramsey are still young.
Yet with this wholesome changes in the midfild, which is the most important area of today's soccer, they are still now 5th in the table, this is excellent result.

Villa is lucky that Arsenal has got injuries everywhere throughout the season. If not, Villa won't even get near to the gunners.
Arsenal will definitely be one of the top 4. 2nd or 3rd placing is still possible.

With Walcott and Eduardo recovering from their injuries, and with Fabregas coming back sooner rather than later, I'm optimistic that Arsenal can now turn on the style and win matches, overtaking Villa eventually.
Aston Villa has been good all season, but the difference between them and Arsenal is that Arsenal knows what has to be done to get that champions league spot. And that's the big difference between the big 4 clubs and the rest of the EPL.

I am a die hard Arsenal fan,i have been supporting Arsenal since the days of Kanu. Wenger knows what he is doing and in Arsene we (i) trust,we are finishing in the first 4 this season anyway and we are also winning the FA this season too,as for the Champions league,if the boys are determined i feel that might come our way too. I forsee we meeting Barca again in the Champions league and we will definately beat them.
Eduardo,Walcott is back,Ade and Cesc will be back soon and Arshavin is getting used to our style of play and in a few days time above the sky will be our limit.
God bless the Queen,God bless Arsenal and God bless Arsene and Olomzay. Arsenal4Ever

I am an arsenal fun through and through but we must accept that the arsenal cause has been derailed by many things this season some of which you would do nothing about like injuries to key players and some were surely manageable.
Wengers disire to prove a point by insisting on a poor wage structure of the 80's in todays changed times was to blame coz it has copst us experience and talent.
After its sall said and done he also conspired to cause a highway in mid field by failing to buy a muscle defensive mid fielder and as we all know in the top flight you will ship goals as we can testify with a pathetic mid field of song and denilson.
Even yesterday against a hapless burnley team the midfield was totally devoid of our players and the transition is very fast to our disadvantage from us attacking to the ball being at our 18 yard box which all points to the use of that D/F MIDFIELDER.
I honestly hope we can qualify for the champs league coz if we fail it will undo all that wenger did.

No matter how we evaluate it, Arsenal still remains the best club in the world, players wanting to go is out of greed, you cannot tell me somebody like Flamini or Helb could leave Arsenal after all Wenger did for them. Though money counts here but sometimes in life, we have to prioties and know what we want. Ever since Helb migrated to Barcelona, I think he has only played for 3 or four matches while Flamini remains a backoff player for someone else.
Dudus, believe it or not, they are regretting their moves, they wont have any opportunities like they did in Arsenal, Wenger believed in them and gave them chances but no other manger will do that for them, unfortunately, you can revise the hand of clock.
Gunners for life.

After the Burnley, any serious doubter now? Eduardo is back. So too is Walcott. Fabregas is already training. So too Rosicky. I have more confidence than before that we will be Top 4 at the end of the season. FA Cup & Champions League too hopefully with a little luck. One thing for sure though, opponents beware. The real Gunner is coming back. And the complain from Villa fans about their misfortunes, Arsenal had theirs. It is now your turn to get them. Fair and square. We were laughed at and belittled. So enjoy the same feeling now. - In Arsene I Trust

I've supported Arsenal all my life and I can tell you this that Wenger has done a fantasitc job with what he has, I can't imagine SAF,or Rafa B doing this with the little that Wenger has at his disposal, saying this I think the club is in great shape for the future and while it has been a rough year for us I can see the improvement in the players and keeping them together will only allow them to reward the fans with trophies in the near future.

Im a die hard Gunners supporter but honestly Wenger is letting us down.¨He is experimenting with the team for a long time.Full of frustrations all the time guys we do not tolerate that.Gunners is not Wenger and Wenger is not Gunners...Lets consider this guys...........Food for thought..

If Arsenal beat Roma we will win the champions league. all of our players are on the come back and will be fresh. Aston villa are gone, so they will be on the down over the next few weeks, therefore we will over take them in the next few games. I still believe we have quite a few holes in the team that will need to fixed in the summer, a player such as David Wheater would do wonders. Gooooo Gunners!!!

da gooners will always do what is required and expected of them. a double is still very much achievable 'cos i have the unshakable trust in both the players and the brilliant and highly intelligent coach (daddy arsene wenger).
Roma may seemingly pose some real threats to us, but with the determination and will coupled with talent, we will surely prevail at the end of the 90mins.
the fans should always have strong faith in their own products (the players and coach)to avoid unnecessary psychological distractions. everybody in arsenal is important, and i'm sure together we can achieve the unexpected - YES WE CAN!
good luck

I am an absolute diehard gunnerz fan from perth western australia i always stick up for the team no matter what we barely escaped todays clash with roma we have had a really bumpy ride this season lacking consistency on the pitch. Clearly our team needs to toughen up mentally and physically.
Young players and the coaching staff must surely understand the need to meet the physical demands of english football .
Our groung play is not as sharp as last season and we are moving the ball far too lateral and not direct enough attacking midfield players like asharvin van persie and nasri and fabregas need to contribute to building forward pressure by taking more quality shots on goal from range.
Central defence is also another weakness, we need more solid taller and commanding centrebacks to bolster the defense and stop conceding in set pieces.
Arsene has failed on many occassions to put the right mix of players on the park.
Cant wait to have a full strength squad in the coming month

I'm a gunner for life and in Arsene Wenger I trust.
Wenger has shown several times that he knows what he is doing. Villa will never be a match for the second team of Arsenal. Thy have played themselves out of the UEFA cup and now they can't get a win in the league, I think they just had a good spell while we were having our bad one.We are still alive in 3 competition and they are playing in just one and the pressure is on them now so lets see how they deal wit it.

About
Sam Limbert: My retirement as a football player came at the age of 14 due to being rubbish, it's fair to say I was more Kaba Diawara than Thierry Henry, so I turned my focus to writing about the game. I'm a lifelong Arsenal fan and have been lucky enough to watch the team across England and Europe. My favourite Gunner of all time is Dennis Bergkamp, and the 2004 Invincibles is the greatest side I've ever seen in English football. I try to be positive about the Arsenal as it's the hope that keeps us going! Follow me on twitter @SamsMatchReport.
